Peaceful rustic 1930s cottage on beautiful Lake Willoughby in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Incredible sunset views over the lake from any of the 3 porches, open, screened and sleeping. Vintage wainscot walls hung with old and new artwork, and large front yard with a fire ring. Lovely cedar hedged alley leading to private beach across the road with deck, Adirondack chairs and a dock for sitting and swimming. Shallow swimming perfect for young children.
Second guest cottage on property included with queen bed, single day bed, mini kitchen (fridge, sink and coffee machine only) living room and porch.
Just 3 properties north of the Willoughby Lake Store where you can find just about anything you might have forgotten from fishing gear to ice cream (and creemees!), to local gifts and a liquor store.
Close to beautiful hikes, museums, great antiquing, farmers markets and the Bread and Puppet Theater.

Charming vintage cottage with two porches and an ample lawn, so you can enjoy it rain or shine. If only I could beam myself back there for a few more days. :0)

A group of 5 “bookclub women” all stayed at the main house. It was so cozy and well-appointed. Plenty of room to all have meals together inside and out, and lots of places to gather to chat. The private dock and beach area was just right across the road. We kayaked, swam, walked, and hiked in this gorgeous lake/mountain gem of an area. Everything was perfect!!

The cottage was exactly as described. The private beach was so great and right across the street from the cottages. Our group of 7 had plenty of space and the teenagers lived having their own little cottage next to the main house. We’re so grateful dogs are allowed here too! We would love to come back during a warmer time of the year to enjoy swimming more, I forget how far north this is and by September it is quite chilly already. The beach is sandy, clean and shallow for quite a while.

We had a wonderful stay in Vermont at your charming and rustic home.It was peaceful with ample space for sleeping. I absolutely loved the porch swing and had many morning coffees there.My kids spent a lot of time at the dock fishing The sunsets were gorgeous from the dock Definitely stop at the country store for chicken tenders and ice cream!!!And for a great hike and astonishing views go the south beach/state park I felt like I was in Hawaii Thank you for the unforgettable memories *The Briggs*

It was a lovely property could use some updated porch and lawn chairs but overall it had everything you could need and then some we loved it! Such a nice place thank you for letting us stay. We loved the porch swing also and the sunsets were unbelievable from the porch! It was nice having the space to hang out.

We all had a fantastic time and I tend to be very particular but with everything included - the private beach with dock, the large front lawn and porches for our two grandsons to play will instill a memory for them to always remember. The inside had just been painted this past Spring and looked so professional. It was so clean and was so easy to ask questions and get answers, etc, etc. I even watched the beautiful sunset each night. Can’t say enough!!

Mary was an excellent host, who responded quickly with helpful information on both our arrival and departure. Pull in the driveway and you are able to park 3 cars easily behind the house, with a separate exit that continues on around the other side of the house. The private beach is across the road, through two hedges. The dock is sturdy, the beach is sandy, the water is shallow and there are good chairs for relaxing by the water. There is a general store about 100 yards up the road where you can purchase most things, including breakfast/sandwiches to go. The large cottage is quirky, yet comfortable, as might be expected in an older house. We happened to be there during some very hot days and while there were fans in the larger cottage, they did little to reduce the heat at night, especially on the second floor. We did not locate a fan in the small cottage, but it did have ceiling fans and we brought a fan over from the large cottage to help. The small cottage was actually cooler than the large cottage as it only had one floor.We enjoyed our time at Isabell Cottage and Isbellita Guest Cottages on Lake Willoughby. Thank you, Mary!

So glad you had a great time. It does get hot these days in the Kingdom but its still fairly rare. Closing the door to the sleeping porch During the day can help keep the upstairs cool.

We had a great time. There was plenty to do, including hiking, kayaking, antiquing, and even a local corn maze. The house is very comfortable, well equipped, and we love all the antiques in the vibe. The casita next-door was great for our new parents and their baby to have a little privacy. Hope to be back next year!

Great location. Older lake house with a lot of character. The separate cabin is a nice amenity. Only issue we experienced was the limited wifi data.

I'm sorry you were unaware of the wifi situation. I was speaking with a neighbor about this challenges of wifi in the North East Kingdom (few carriers, very expensive) and she let me know that Xfinity just came in so after this season, we can get that up and running and should have unlimited data.

Perfect spot in a very special place!

Lake Willoughby is a special place for me and my family and this was a perfect spot to gather together for a lake vacation. Great for families and awesome beach access! We hope to return next year.

We loved the unique structure and decor of the house, and felt very at home. The property was spacious, clean, quiet. The private dock and water access was perfect for morning coffee and swimming. We knew there was no tv on site, so we brought a small one with us for movie night! Communication with the owner was quick and responsive. We'd happily book there again!

Perfect family house!

Fantastic location. Hose had everything we needed for our family visiting for a family wedding. We enjoyed hanging out on the porch, swimming and relaxing at the dock and gathering together for dinner. Thanks for a lovely stay. Stunning fall foliage too!

I first went to Lake Willoughby as a young child and it got stuck in my heart. When I began the search to find a retreat, Willoughby naturally bubbled to the surface.

I am so happy to share this very magical cottage with you. I hope you will enjoy the peace and fun that Isbell has to offer.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

This cottage sings of vacations of old: porch swing, hammocks, and fire pits, the clearest water in all of Vermont, loons at night, eagles during the day, hiking or lazy walks, virtually every driver that passes waves, fireworks on the fourth, cool nights for sleeping and hot days for swimming, creemees just a walk away, incredible autumn color, a place to slow down and enjoy your family and friends.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

This is not an IKEA vacation home. The furniture and decorations match the atmosphere of a 1930s cottage. It's a bit of a Time Machine to what we now believe were simpler days (not sure those in the 30s would agree but sure feels that way now).
