Treetop Cottage-3 bed, 2 bath newly updated !


Relax in a fully updated 3 bedroom , 2 bath cottage in Highlands, NC. This beautiful cottage has a wonderful screen porch and expansive deck with a peek-a-boo view of Shortoff Mountain, and adding ridges. You will feel like you are in the treetops! Enjoying the breeze rustling through the leaves, watching the hummingbirds and white squirrels all make for a peaceful setting. Renovated bathrooms, beautiful beamed cathedral ceiling in the great room, stacked stone fireplace, and large screen smart TV, all make for an enjoyable stay. We are stocked with games, books and puzzles for great fun. A perfect relaxing getaway cottage. No step entry, one level cottage.


Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

Please note: This property has winter mountain and ridgeline views and no long range views as noted in some reviews. Reviews from 2022 to 2024 are for a prior property (a condo), as per Vrbo policy, reviews can’t be removed. This free standing cottage is new as of early 2025.

Such a beautiful property and very convenient to downtown Highlands and hiking trails. Owner was very good to communicate on details for checking in and the home had everything we needed for our stay. Will definitely stay there again when visiting the area!!

Great property for a restful get away. As always the Highlands never disappoints and this house was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy family. We especially loved the screen porch and well appointments kitchen. Beds and bathrooms were nicely appointed as well.

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to Treetop Cottage. We apologize for any disappointment in the inability to use the fireplace. We did not realize that guests would want to use the fireplace during the warm summer months. The fireplace is operational during the spring, fall and winter months.

Perfect!

Absolutely loved this home! It was clean, spacious, beautifully-decorated and comfortable. With no permanent residents in the home, it feels more like a huge hotel suite than and a vacation rental. The location is wonderful in a quiet neighborhood, very close to downtown Highlands. The back patio is very spacious and has both a covered and uncovered area. Plenty of room to enjoy. Would love to stay here again!

This condo was perfect! Very well appointed and perfect location. We had everything we could possibly need (and then some)! The fireplace was cozy on long, rainy days and the space was perfect for a family. I cannot say enough positive things about this place; we would definitely stay here again!

This was one of the best VRBO that I have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect! The VIEW was amazing!! Oh my!! The decor was elegant and the kitchen was fully stocked with any appliances, dishes or utensils that you could possibly want. Layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms were great! We loved the privacy as well - being on top of the mountain. Laura was so easy to communicate with as well. We had SUCH a great time and look forward to coming next year.

Beautiful place!

This was an absolutely beautiful place to stay! The view is exactly as it is pictured, and the condo is spacious , clean and quiet. It included all your basic amenities. Felt very secluded and private, yet located within mins of grocery store, restaurants and the scaly mountain screamer. Which was like a private roller coaster that you can control speed as you ride. My kids loved it! The only issue is you do have to go down 3 small flights of stairs, consisting of approximately 8 steps each to get in and out of the condo. And there were a few games, but nothing that really interested my kids. Ages 10 & 11. All things considered I would definitely go back here, I would just pack a lighter suitcase! …and a few of the kid’s favorite board games.

A wonderful week

Everything exceeded our expectations. Communication with Hal was easy and prompt. We loved the views from the deck as well as the beauty of the surrounding neighborhood. It is so convenient to hiking trails and downtown restaurants and shopping. We hope to return soon!

Highlands Best Sunsets

The stay at VZ Top was great, the condo was modern and had everything we could need for our weeklong stay. Hal was very responsive to any communications we had with him. The outside deck is just a great place to look at the mountains and especially the sunsets. (An extra bonus was the flying squirrels.) This will be our new Highlands property to stay at whenever we are in town.
