We had a great time!

The home had everything we needed to feel right at home. Panhandle Getaways was amazing! Always attentive to our needs, no matter the time of day! Great location as well! We plan to make this spot a regular vacation getaway.

Beautiful, chic and amazing place

Love this place, near to beautiful beaches, house has everything you need, golf cart was amazing experience for my family and very convenient to go to the beaches, quick to park and carrying over. In front of community are a lot of restaurants like a food court and entertainment at night. We really enjoyed our stay and we will come back next summer. Thank you

Beautiful home and great stay!

The house is truly beautiful and has such nice decor and touches! The beds were comfortable, and there was great areas for spending time together, watching movies, cooking, etc. The golf cart was also a wonderful addition! The house lacked just a few things - no wash clothes in the bathrooms, no beach towels (this was mentioned in the listing, but I think would be a nice touch being so close to the beach and having a pool in the subdivision). Would definitely stay again!

Very Nice property

Loved the location, the use of a golf cart and the extra sofa sleep space. Wish the property was a little more stocked. No trash bags, salt and pepper, detergent etc. but otherwise great stay!

Good oberall

Positives: Unit was clean, nicely furnished, convenient to The Hub. The free round of golf was great. Recommend Windswept Dunes. Appliances were nice. Enjoyed the pool. Just a couple negatives. Garage door opener didn’t work, golf cart was a bit raggedy, garage smelled of cat urine. But overall we enjoyed it.

Not the best experience

Check in was very difficult. There was not an email from VRBO or Panhandle…I had to contact them. The house was not as clean as photos make it look. The furniture was dirty and broken.

Bait and switch

Listing was not accurate and was a total bait and switch. Management company is extremely unethical. Way overpriced for being in a terrible location. Listed as “on the beach” and location was pinned in a different neighborhood that was beach side. It was actually 2 miles away from where they said it was. We picked this for two major reasons. To be close to our family and be beach side, and to have a gym on property. They show a neighborhood gym that doesn’t exist. I paid extra for things I didn’t need for a terrible location that doesn’t have beach access. It has one parking spot so you have to juggle using the broke down golf cart. That can barely hold a charge to get you home. And gamble if there is parking at the busy public beach. I paid more than I had to based on other options because of bait and switch tactics they use.

Nice property, tough beach access

We also had some confusion regarding the location and thought it was across the street at Watersound with access to the private beach. Access to the public beaches was anything but easy with limited or no parking available. The nightly rate was more than reasonable, but with all of the fees it ended up being double the published rate. The golf cart, "Greased Lightening", was anything but fast. We topped out at 13 miles an hour which didn't allow us to drive it on the roads and the charge barely got us to the closest beach access and back. The cart rules are also unrealistic with "no driving after dark"? Daylight savings time precluded us from taking the cart to dinner or the Big Chill. The cart is tired and needs a serious refresh. Listing that chairs are also provided would have been helpful. We called and were told there was no guarantee, so we brought out own and they took up a lot of roon in the car. And finally, providing a few beach towels and coat hangers in the closet would be nice. Overall, the home was comfortable. We made it work and had a nice time.

When it comes to beach access, the WaterSound private beach access is for guests and residents staying in the main WaterSound community. There are several public access points nearby, and we recommend taking advantage of the Deer Lake State Park beach access point, which is just over half a mile away.
