Nice location, kayaks were a bonus, great view out back. Somewhat small house, but good size for a single family. Walking on the gravel barefoot outside everywhere is painful.
The bathroom under-mount sink cracked while we were there, we let the host know right away. What followed was an unacceptable customer experience. The property manager made false claims like we drank the host's wine, stained the carpet, used house supplies without replacing them, and didn't leave the house clean. We don't even drink wine, didn't open a single bottle. We did use a spare toothbrush because we forgot one, but we immediately replaced it with a new one. The host kept the damage deposit and also claimed $300 from the property damage insurance. Upon asking for an itemized list of the amounts deducted and justification, the host has yet to respond after over a week. I don't understand how the sink could have cracked, but as we told the host, I can understand requesting us to pay for a ~$50 sink and even ~$100 install cost since it occurred while we were there. However, the amount of damages, that the host is claiming, is inflated significantly.
The property listing states professional cleaning between guests, but that does not appear to be the case. For example, when we arrived, the refrigerator had a fair amount of food left in it, showers had used soap, etc. Upon leaving, the property manager emailed us saying we "left the house very dirty". However, we swept, did the dishes, wiped down all surfaces, made the beds, even arranged the pillows, etc. Our dog is well trained and had zero accidents while we were there. We took care of the house like it was our own, we did not leave it dirty, and a professional cleaner would have had an easy job after us. Since the property manager still complained about cleanliness, I suspect a full professional cleaning is not actually done between guests.
The host's communication, or lack thereof, and the damages reported do not accurately portray how we treated the house.
If you stay here, I recommend planning to not get the damage deposit returned and clean significantly before checking out.
