HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE
Built in 1918 by Will Shelton, the Carriage House originally served as the housekeeperâs quarters and garage. Today, it hosts the Shelton Carriage House Gift Shop, featuring over 25 local artists and crafters.
The main house, constructed in 1875 by Stephen Shelton, is now home to the Museum of NC Handicrafts, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and featuring one of the finest folk art collections in the Southeast.
