Me, my friends, and girlfriend all stayed here together for the weekend. We attended collect-a-con over in Rosemont and then also did a little day trip to downtown Chicago for mine and my friends birthday! It was really nice staying here, super cozy and cute. Very nice neighborhood and neighbors were friendly :)
The area is very safe and quiet. Parking was super easy. We parked right in front of the house every time. The host was very attentive to our needs. We are a family of 5 and a dog. We felt like we had enough space for all of us. It also was very helpful to have free laundry. Our stay was excellent and I would definitely stay here again.
Perfect basement apartment that wonât break the bank in Chicago. In a quiet neighborhood the unit is perfect for a base to sightsee or making college visits like we did. If my grand daughter chooses a Chicago university this will be our go to place to stay.
I enjoyed staying at this VRBO. It was clean and conveniently located and the host was super communicative and nice. She checked in on me to make sure I had everything I needed and even helped me when I locked myself out. :)
We were able to park on the street just steps from the well lit door. The apartment was clean and quiet and the living area quite spacious. Good quality bedding and mattresses. Lots of little extras, such as first aid supplies and an umbrella.
Property was convenient, clean, and nicely appointed. Because our host was not available during our stay, we were not able to ask how to access the multiple tvs available. It would have been helpful to have known that the turn on process was not easy before we got there. Luckily, I travel with decks of cards!
Recommend with discussion noted above.
Lovely neighborhood; very convenient location for our needs.
Arrived in 100 degree heat. Couldnât contact owner (probably our fault) so my husband ran out and bought three fans so we were ok until the heat broke that night. I loved the nearby Skokie canal sculpture park.
The location is great for us. It's within biking distance of the lake and the traffic on McCormick isn't loud. The place is dry. The only slight complaint is that the shades over the window with the AC do not go all the way down, meaning a person can look in at night. Also, don't use the coffeemaker and the kettle at the same time!
I think this property was misrepresented. It was much further from Northwestern University than 1.5 miles (more like 2.5 miles). It was incredibly cold in the apartment and it was infested with ants in the bathroom. A very old building and not very comfortable.
Had some trouble with the TV not working in the living room. Remote not working would turn on but could not get it to any chanels! No downgrade because of bugs which are all over the midwest. We were not watching tv anyway at a wedding. Overall a good experiance but would suggest they explain that the lock works slow in unlocking the door I thought it was not working and bothered the people who live there to get into the building.
We chose this apt because it was close to our sonâs apt and short distance to Northwestern for his graduation. . We liked the area close to the university. This is the first time we experienced staying in a basement apt and for what we paid, we wouldnât do it again.
There were large ants and small ants throughout the apt. The owner came to spray but we continued to see ants during our stay. The owners werenât available when we had an emergency when we lost the key and needed to get back in to the apt. We were very thankful to the neighbor who helped us to get back in. That evening the owner did come by with a new key and sprayed but ants came back during our stay. Maybe because it rained one day.
The cold water shower knob was loose and nearly falling off and when we used the kitchen sink, dirty water backed up in the shower. Luckily there was a plunger we used to clear out the tub to be able to use the shower.
On a positive note, the beds were very comfortable.
This property is located in an adorable neighborhood with easy access to parks and cafes. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. There was ample parking and check in was a breeze. We loved our stay at Skevanston!
