The property is just as listed and everything we needed it to be. Like some other reviews I will say bring bug spray the mosquitoes can be annoying. I was disappointed there was no dock for the grandson to fish off of, but that was my error for not asking. It would be nice if the path to the bay side was wider. Also the beach is just a short walk across the road. A wagon can help with the trek. My family and I did really enjoy the island. Definitely come to relax if thatâs your goal.
We LOVED our stay at the house. We came with our four young adult sons and our pups. The house was perfect for our family of five. All my boys had their own rooms. We had internet issues when we first arrived and John responded promptly and issues was resolved. Great location to beach and the bay. We will BE BACK!!!
This was our second stay here and we hope to stay again in the future. The location is great. You can view the gulf from the front although it's a small front porch but the main view is of the bay behind the house. It's very relaxing to look out of the large back windows and view the bay or go out onto the rear deck. Very easy access to the bay or gulf. Everything needed for a short stay is provided other than consumables. It's a quiet area but close to restaurants. I did learn this trip that there is a small grocery and hardware store on the island, located between the Circle K and Chevron, and they cover a lot of possible unexpected needs. The only issue that we had with the house was the wifi and that may be an island issue. I don't know. The house has streaming for the TV and a fair to large part of each day we had no wifi. Also couldn't use any computers that require a wifi signal. The saving grace for the TV was that there is an open air antenna input that you can switch to with a lot of channels available.Any time we had any questions, we always got a fast response. I would definitely recommend this place.
The House was super clean and had everything we needed. A few nice bonus items were extra chairs a beach wagon and the Kyaks. The only negative was the Mosquitos at times, they were pretty bad if the wind died down.
We enjoyed being close to both the bay and the ocean. Our family enjoyed the kayaks! The house isnât as new as some, but it was clean and had everything we needed. We never ran out of hot water and had 6 people bathing every night. The only thing we looked for that we couldnât find was a broom to help with the sand tracked in. There was a vacuum. The outdoor shower also helped.
Overall, great location! Great views from back porch and large windows in the back of the house! John was very helpful with quick responses to questions we had. đđ
We greatly enjoyed the kayaks at the home. We paddled around the bay.
We caught a 36 inch redfish from the shore (paddled the bait out to drop it) as well as several sail catfish and sharks.
The ocean side of the island is nicer for swimming but is just a short walk away which is lovely.
Another wonderful week at Dauphin Island
This was a great place for my family. Just a short walk to the Gulfside beach, and the bayside was basically the âbackyard.â The sunrises and sunsets were amazing. Kayaks and grill are nice perks. The owner is very helpful and quick to respond. Overall the place is great with just minor things missing or needing some TLC. The owner is aware and is working thru a remodel. But donât let those things turn you away. It was a comfy place in a good location with a great AC unit, new washer/dryer, and new refrigerator.
We loved our stay at this property. So convenient to the Mississippi Sound behine us and the Gulf of Mexico on the front side...each offering their own fun and adventure. We were a family of 8 with 3 grandsons ranging from 15-7.. Each had a tremendous time. Loved fishing in both bodies of water. Even took a pontoon out for 1/2 day to explore the area and let the boys get in a little more fishing with their Papaw. We toured Fort Gaines which my youngest 7 year old grandson thoroughly enjoyed.. He loves everything about the wars and this was the first fort he'd been to. We also toured the Aquarium on the island and that too was fun for all of us.We enjoyed getting on the ferry afterwards to tour the Gulf Shores side.. Eat at a wonderful restuarant and headed by to Dauphin Island to catch the awesome sunset! Our daughter got up early 3 mornings to have time to take her son and see the sunrise.. Beautiful place and definitely worth exploring. House is the perfect location to do so!
Overall we loved our stay in the little blue house. The location was just steps away from the Sehoy beach access making getting to the beach a breeze. Access to the bay is also just steps away. We loved watching the stunning sunsets from the bay. The home could use some updating and maintenance but it was clean and tidy.
Location could not have been any better. Facing the bay, it was perfect for our family with young kids because the water was calm and shallow. It was quiet and peaceful and we loved all the crabs, dolphins, birds, etc. The house is comfortable for the most part but is in need of some basic repairs like some outlets not working or didnât have cover plates. Some doors donât latch. Kitchen cabinets were a little worn out. A little TLC would bring this to a five star.
Perfect for a family with older kids. Some stayed at the bay while others went to beach. The back porch was where we spent most of our time- lyou could see sunrise & sunset. We rented bikes and paddleboards. The bike ride to town was 15-20. To the west beach 5-10. Everything was there for a comfortable stay. I think we watched 10+ movies - so many in their library to choose from.
The location of this property was perfect! You have the best of both worlds, nice beach area on the bay side in front of place and less than 5 minute walk to the beach area on the gulf side. There was some wear and tear inside but that is to be expected. Very clean and comfortable, we would definately rent again.
Our family of 8 spent a week at the house this month. The location was perfect for just hanging around and enjoying the beach. We made good use of the kayaks and boogie boards! The house has a fantastic back deck looking into the Bay, and a large living/dining/kitchen area perfect for lounging and enjoying the view. We had one day that rained most of the time, and we still had plenty of space to relax with books and TV. Lots of swimming and walks on the beach. The Bay is the back yard, Gulf beach access is a 2 minute walk across the street. Very quiet area. The house is not fancy, but it is comfortable with two bathrooms and four bedrooms. We did not cook much, but there seemed to be plenty of pots and pans and utensils. We enjoyed our stay immensely!
This was the perfect vacation house for my family. The inside of the house was clean, open, and bright. Rooms were a good size and the kitchen was great. It was so nice to have a laundry room on the property and the outside shower was a huge help, especially with the kids. The back porch was absolutely amazing and a great place to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. A quick walk will get you to the bay, which was an amazing area for the kids to play because the water was calm and shallow for a LONG ways out. A slightly longer, but under 5 minute, walk will get you to a beach on the gulf side that is tons of fun for everyone who likes to jump around in the waves. We enjoyed collecting sea shells on both beaches. This house really is perfectly situated. The property manager was awesome. Check in couldn't have been easier and the couple of small issues we had were handled super fast. Would recommend this house and property manager to everyone.
The Kayaks property is in a great location with a beautiful view of the Mississippi Sound and a short walk to the gulf beach waves across the street. The home was clean and the layout worked well for our family of 5 and our pup. Loved the bright colors, big kitchen and covered deck! That said, the property is definitely in need of some repairs. The owner was kind, communicative and quick to respond to any issues during our stay. He is now aware of many areas in need of attention and hopefully preparing for future guests! We enjoyed the quieter, less busy environment on Dauphin Island. Just be prepared for fewer dining/grocery options nearby.
Wonderful location! Quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed mornings sitting on the back porch overlooking the Mississippi sound. Then we would head over to the beach for the day. About a 30 second walk across the street. Perfect for our family. I would definitely like to go back and stay.
Quiet and Relaxing... Loved having our dog on vacation
This is not a fancy, expensive rental.... however, it is perfect for a priced right, reasonable get-a-way with friends and family. The island itself is very quiet and does not have very many restaurants. We hit the grocery store and were able to enjoy using the big open kitchen. If you want more activity, you can take the ferry over to orange beach.
This was the perfect place for us. Short walk out to our own little beach. The kayak's were added fun on the water. John was very responsive and helpful during our stay.
We loved our stay at Kayaks! And we LOVED being on Bayside because it was like having our own private sandy beach.
The kayaks and the grill included were huge bonuses and we used the kayaks daily.
It was a great house with a good layout. We'd definitely stay here again.

I am married with two daughters. We all love the Island. My oldest daughter graduated from Auburn with a Masters degree and my youngest just graduated from Auburn as well. This is Rachael, Tommie and my wife Martha.
We have five vacation homes on Dauphin Island. This one has quickly become the favorite. Shallow water is great for kayaks and all other forms of water sports. The Gulf is across the street and the Bay is at your back door. The best of both worlds. Everyone loves the setting. Fish, flounder, crab, kayak, do whatever you want here...it's the perfect place!
