This cute, well equipped, modernized Old Nags Head cottage is in such a private location that you might not even be able to find it with GPS! The location features an extremely rare, private (shared with a couple of other properties), sandy sound-front beach that is perfect for all kinds of water sport activities. Swimming, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, kite-boarding - you name it! Parents will be the envy of their friends because your children will absolutely love the warm, calm, shallow, clear sound waters when the ocean is cold and rough or red-flagged as dangerous, or even when the ocean is fine. The sound is a wonderful playground of its own. Tuttle-Chesson epitomizes Old Nags Head style cottage charm but it has all the modern conveniences, appliances, equipment and furnishings. Covered porches on all 4 sides provide a shady spot to enjoy the breeze no matter which direction the sun is shining!

Virginia did not stay in Tuttle Chesson. She rented the cottage for her son who was still in the cottage over an hour past checkout, at which point our staff has every right to enter and the guest should no longer be on the premises at all. Our staff found that his group was nowhere near ready to checkout and that they had treated the home very poorly. Furthermore, we had calls from neighbors that these guests were very loud/disturbing and the neighbors were concerned about possible violence by the noises they were hearing. We have an obligation to the homeowners we represent to look after their property. This guest disrespected policy and property in multiple ways. To place blame on our staff who were simply doing their job is very inaccurate.

honestly the home is very outdated, needs major cleaning as it appears that the owners don't really

I would not stay here again, neigbors dogs crap all over and just ran when they want to. there was no dryer, place needs a major cleaning and updating and grill where seriously was like something from the trash, shower curtains had mildew stove was so out dated you could not tell high or low or any thing as far as turning it on. sad that it is just an investment property not one that someone takes pride in. did no enjoy our stay at this house

Unfortunately, this guest did not communicate any of these issues to us during their stay. We would have been happy to replace the shower curtain liner and the grill. The house is cleaned prior to each check-in, had any legitimate or specific issues been cited we would have been happy to rectify them. There is not a dryer nor is a dryer advertised for the home. We understand their frustration about the neighbor's dogs, but the neighbor's behavior is obviously out of our control. Regarding the overall condition of the home, we are sorry that this guest did not enjoy the rustic quality of Tuttle-Chesson, but the owner does in fact take great pride in owning a simple and classic Nags Head style cottage and we also take great pride in managing this home.

neglected

Nice location. Great porch. Very basic cooking supplies. The listing needs to be corrected : dryer and DVD player listed in amenities and not there. You need to bring your own linens, towels etc. which is not stated in the listing ---it is on the contract though. Cleaning is only surface---under the furniture hasn't been touched in a while(plastic bottles and thick dust) Wasn't looking for it , but dog's ball rolled under and I got a surprise when I retrieved it. It could be a lot nicer with just a little TLC.

Cute "granny cottage"

The cottage is just like one you would have stayed in as a kid in the 70s - highly nostalgic and cozy. The seating and beds indoors were plentiful, if not comfortable. The rocking chairs and hammock on the porch where outstanding. The weeds were doing their best to overtake the porch although the family members a few doors down were doing a great job keeping the lawn mowed and pulling back the brush. As far as amenities - we brought our own sheets, towels, tp, tissues, wash cloths, sponges and cleaning supplies in addition to hand soap and of course shower supplies. There is an overgrown path across from the driveway that leads to a tiny beach with some cute benches and another hammock - which looked cozy. The bugs were biting and the sea grass was accumulated on the little patch of beach so we decided to not spend time down there. Plus, the neighbor's dogs run loose and they didn't much like our dog being over there. The neighbor was friendly and kind - and so were the dogs except for the fact that they preferred to show their dismay with our dog by pooping in our driveway every day. Also, what a surprise to learn that the garbage pickup occurs about 330 AM!! construction starts at 7 and the recycle pick up is early as well. While it's quiet most of the day, it's just a little jarring during traditional sleeping hours. Overall a nice place to visit on the Outer Banks.

Great Location

The location of the property was great. We loved the porch. A few things we were not pleased with was the driveway parking. It needed to be cut back more. There were 2 cooking sheets in the oven from where someone cooked bacon. Some of the dishes were not cleaned all the way. We had to wash what we used before cooking in it.
