Great location! We had a blast tubing the river and it was perfect that we could simply get out right at the house. Erica was easy to communicate with and we had no issues.
This beautiful home is just as described. We enjoyed the game room, theater room, and lovely outdoor spaces. The hosts provided ample firewood and a perfect smores kit complete with sticks for roasting! Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfy, and AC is cold. Communication with the hosts was timely and gracious. Our family had a wonderful weekend together!
Roads driving in were a little iffy. The house was unlocked and we could never figure out how to fully lock the house. Hot tub and upstairs water heater not working until 4th day. Dishes were dirty in the dishwasher and so were the ones put away. Outside grill was also dirty. House was a lot smaller than the pictures depict.
My family had a wonderful time for our Thanksgiving week get-together. We had 8 adults and 1 child in our group for the week. We had plenty of room to spread out, but places for us to all sit together doing puzzles or playing cards. We loved the game room. Along with arcade games and pool, there was also a large scrabble board, tic-tac-toe, and connect 4 all "built in" to the game room, which the 6 year old especially enjoyed--challenged someone to play her every chance she got. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The fire pit area was great for s'mores in the evenings. We took our family photos with the beautiful river in the background. The check in process was very smooth. Communication was great. The check out process was quick and easy. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful home.
As we searched the VRBO options for a house that would accommodate our family of 18 we were lead to this property. It certainly held up its end of the arrangement. The beautiful clean Toccoa River is out your back door. We enjoyed fishing, tubing, and wading when the water was low. The Blue Ridge restaurants, shops, Mercier Orchard and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway were just 10 minutes away. We went to Morganton Point for a swim in the lake just 15 minutes away. Honestly, we ran out of time to do everything we would have liked. The house is conveniently located close to EVERYTHING we wanted to do. The house layout met our needs. Comfortable, spacious with privacy when needed. The kids loved the game and theater rooms and all the space to run around outside. The kitchen made meal prep easy with ample space for 4 cooks and little kiddos under our feet. :) It was a great stay with many memories made both inside and outside of the house. If you're looking for a good place to relax, retreat and explore, Blue Ridge is a hidden gem and the Toccoa River Retreat is a great place to stay. Thank you Erica for answering all of our questions in advance and providing a comprehensive guide once we checked in. This is an area we would enjoy coming back to again.
Hands down, this house is by far the most incredible home that we have stayed in!! Everyone loved it. We couldnât get enough of sitting on the back patio and the river view was amazing. Our boys, aged 16, 12, 10 and 7 had a blast fishing, jumping in the river, the hot tub and they LOVED the game room. The house was very spacious and comfortable for the 11 of us. Beds were comfortable and the house is only about 10 minutes from town. We saw tons of wildlife (deer, rabbits, geese, cardinals, blue jays) every day which we loved as well.
This was our first trip to Blue Ridge and we will be back! Thank you!!
Twelve family members from Atlanta and Texas met for a relaxing reunion. The house sits on a beautiful piece of property and the river is literally at your back door. As others have said, there is plenty of room and we enjoyed all sitting together for meals at a very large dining table and there is also an extra large round breakfast table. The "Fully Loaded" game room was a big hit with both adults and children. The theater was comfortable and large, but we could only find Shrek DVD's. Bring your own and enjoy.
The house is very convenient to many activities. My family said it was "perfect" and asked if we could meet there again next year. That speaks volumes. My favorite pastime, sitting in the shade on the dock -listening to the river. PS. If there are any issues, Erica responds within minutes!
I have a group of friends that vacation together each year requiring a large house with lots of things to do. This house has it all. The house was clean and as advertised. We used every aspect of the house, the hottub, the movie room, the outdoor games, the firepit, fishing dock and the game room. No issues with any of it. The host was very responsive any time we had a question and super helpful. Highly recommend!
We had a group of 18- siblings and cousins, all ages and everyone had the best time! Owner was super responsive and helpful. We had trouble getting the sound on movie theatre set up and she sent someone to help within 30 min. Place was big, spacious, and clean. Outdoors was beautiful. Plenty to do!
Home was beautiful with plenty of room. Unfortunately a fence was newly added between the home and fire pit that was disappointing. It totally separated that space from everything else. Wish that would have been noted. Also it felt like there had not been a good walk thru of the home in a while as we found multiple small issues and missing items that are usually included. When we sent the issues to the owner most of them were fixed quickly. Overall a great home but the cost did not meet expectation this time.
This house was a great place for several families to come together and enjoy the mountains. Great location to explore the woods, enjoy the river and not too far from town.
Our stay was every bit as magical as we imagined. The property was expansive and beautiful, with plenty to do for all ages. Our large group of 17 consisted of 8 children between 4 & 8; the kids had an amazing time playing in the front yard while watching geese, rolling down the hill with the river in the background, swinging, and watching movies. There was plenty of seating for all and we appreciated the extra (and much needed) paper towels, soap, tp, even trash bags! Every room had an armoire or hanging rack for our belongings. Erica responded enthusiastically to every question very quickly and made check-out a breeze. Weâre looking forward to another vacation at the Toccoa River Retreat soon!
The property was exactly as advertised, beautiful and spacious. We were a group of 15 with 10 adults and 5 children and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The house was very clean and well maintained. There were three downsides, but none of which would prevent us from renting again and/or recommending to others:
1) the laundry room smelled very strongly of cigarettes.
2) only one bathroom for three bedrooms on the top floor. The other 3 bathrooms were on the first floor and basement.
3) wi-fi and internet connection was very spotty.
Great stay! Location was awesome!! We enjoyed the outdoor activities. The children had a great time fishing every afternoon. Would definitely enjoy another stay!!!
This home was absolutely gorgeous. Not only the home but the location. We were celebrating my mothers 70th birthday and we had 15 people in our family. We had plenty of room. We normally try to stay at different places but we would stay here again with my whole family. The property owner was very attentive and helpful with their recommendations and response. Loved the stream/river in the back. My brother caught 2 trout and I got to do my morning polar plunges. We also went tubing down the river at the recommendation of the owner. It was such a terrific memory for me and my family. We got in at the lake dam and got out at the house. The house Is very well supplied with everything we needed. Such a beautiful home with helpful and kind hosts. Already planning a trip back.
The home is perfect for a family get together! Plenty of space to spread out and relax! We dropped tubes a few minutes away at the local park and the tubed right up to the back yard where we popped out! Also spent a few of our days there in downtown Blue Ridge which is such a great little area. The Bigfoot Museum was a hit for the kids too!
The hosts are fantastic and very responsive. We recommend staying there for a large group!
Everything was just as advertised and host responded promptly to questions we had. Plenty of room for our 12. Close to town but it seemed like we were much further. This is a gorgeous property.
