Welcome to The Lookout – Your Private, Professionally Designed Retreat in the Heart of Kansas City

This listing is for the upper-level unit of a duplex. The entrance leads to a private stairwell inside the front door, offering secure access to the unit above. Please note: the lower-level unit may be occupied during your stay. While the units can be rented separately or together, they are not connected internally.

Step inside to discover a professionally designed space curated with exquisite furnishings, combining beauty and function at every turn. Guests will have full access to the expansive top floor, featuring a large private kitchen, two spacious bedrooms, a versatile office/third bedroom, a full bathroom, and an impressive covered balcony with plush outdoor seating.

Living Room:
Gather around in the inviting living room, where a luxurious sectional comfortably seats 4–5 guests, complemented by additional lounge seating. A 50" Smart TV is ready for you to log into Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or Amazon Prime, while high-speed WiFi supports seamless streaming, gaming, or remote work. For a cozy evening in, a selection of card games is also provided for game nights with friends or family.

Dining Room:
Adjacent to the living room, the dining area offers a stylish space to enjoy meals or casual cocktails. The large dining table comfortably seats six guests. A full coffee bar invites you to brew the perfect cup with options including a Keurig, drip coffee maker, French press, and pour-over setup — complete with an assortment of coffee, creamer, and sugar. For those feeling inspired, a bar kit is also available to craft your own cocktails for a perfect evening of entertaining.

Two Large Bedrooms:
Each generously sized bedroom features a luxurious KING-size bed dressed with premium linens, a spacious closet, and a 40" Smart TV with access to all major streaming apps. One of the bedrooms also includes a dedicated workspace, perfect for remote professionals or those needing a quiet nook.

Office / Third Bedroom:
The versatile third room offers a bright, inspiring workspace overlooking scenic Roanoke Road. It’s outfitted with a stylish desk and a plush queen-size daybed, comfortably accommodating two additional guests.

Kitchen:
The beautifully remodeled kitchen is fully stocked to meet every culinary need. From cookware, bakeware, and utensils to cookie sheets and serving ware, you'll find everything required to whip up a gourmet meal. Prefer dining out? Over 100 top-rated restaurants are just minutes from your doorstep.

Bathroom:
The spacious, centrally located bathroom features hotel-quality touches, including Tommy Bahama luxury bath products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion), plush bath towels, washcloths, a hair dryer, and dark makeup towels for your convenience.

Private Balcony:
Step out onto your private, covered balcony — a true "Lookout" offering a tranquil retreat above the city. Swing in one of two hanging chairs or relax in the conversation seating area while sipping your morning coffee or evening wine, soaking in the atmosphere.

Two dedicated parking spaces are available behind the building, with additional street parking nearby.

Getting around is so easy!! There are so many options. The easiest is to park your car behind the building and either walk or Uber your way around town. There are also motorized scooter and bike options if you enjoy feeling the wind in your hair!

*IDENTITY VERIFICATION and PROPERTY INSURANCE REQUIREMENT: To help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with SafelyStay, Inc. to provide all reservations with damage protection of up to $1,500. This protection plan is $45 for all stays under 29 nights, and is included in the cost of your booking. Stays 30-59 nights will be required to pay an additional insurance premium of $305 directly on our website. Stays longer than 59 nights will be separately charged for damage protection extension at the rate of $130/30 days. Please note, guest screening is also required for any bookings made through VRBO or direct. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be contacted by Safely to complete an identity verification before your reservation date for any direct or VRBO bookings.

* PARTIES - All gatherings must be limited to 8, this is monitored and guests violating this rule will be charged a mandatory $700 fine. NO EVENTS OR PARTIES ALLOWED.

* PETS - We do allow pets with host approval. If you are planning on bringing a pet please notify us once you complete your booking. There is a $75 fee for one pet or $100 for two that is collected once the booking is confirmed and paid in full. (Guests are required to pick up after their pet host provides dog bag stations). There is not a fenced yard but the area is perfect for walking!

*CANCELLATION POLICY - Guests can receive a full refund minus processing fees (approximately 4%) if they cancel up to 5 days before check in. No refund will be provided if cancelling less than 5 days before check in.

Awesome place - Unique and Close to everything

We stayed here with some friends for my bridal shower in KC and this place was absolutely amazing! So much space for 3 couples with enough amenities. Bar with cocktail utensils and a coffee maker. It was nice to have the dinning room as a place for us to gather to eat as well! I think we all were obsessed with how beautiful it was decorated - it felt so warm and cozy! We will definitely be back!

This property is eclectic and interesting, and communication with the host is quick. I would have rated everything 5 star, however I feel like the front door needs a more secure lock. Being on the top floor of the duplex, I would have preferred to feel the deadbolt was more secure.

Loved this very comfortable apartment (it is huge!) in a great location of Kansas City. We would most definitely stay here again when we return.

The home has plenty of space and amenities. Quiet, serene, peaceful and accommodating for all our needs. We will be staying here again.

Beautiful apartment in a great part of the city

The apartment on the upper level is beautiful. Really comfy lounge with a big balcony. Decent sized kitchen and dining room area. Good sized bedrooms, although we used the smaller of the 3 as a study / office while we were there. The location is great too - loads of great places nearby including Rebel Coffee for coffee and breakfast, Q39 for amazing BBQ and Goat & Rabbit for delicious cocktails. Easy check in process. Great comms with host!

We stayed in the upstairs unit. The unit was clean and looked just like the online photos. AC worked great. We really enjoyed the outside porch area. Plenty of towels. The dishwasher worked great. Having a washer and dryer available was great. I did have an issue with the back bedroom. The king size bed was very firm and felt like sleeping on cement. I would recommend the owner consider adding a memory foam topper or something similar. Also, the skillet that was available was difficult to cook in. It would be nice to have a non-stick skillet. Overall, we enjoyed out stay.
