Fully Renovated River House
Welcome to Sunrise View, a truly amazing place to relax and enjoy the River! Unwind and put your feet in the sand while you feel the coastal breeze in your hair. You could not be any closer to the water at this house! We sit on a peninsula where the house was built on pillars just feet from the water. You would swear you were on the beach relaxing in the sand that extends out into the river!

The House:

1600 square foot house. It is built on piers that sit 15 feet in the air. We have a massive screened-in wrap around porch with tons of seating. The kitchen is completely stocked with all cookware you need to prepare any meal.

The master opens to the deck, making it convenient to step outside with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise over the river.

Outside:

Enjoy a private 175 foot pier for fishing or relaxing. Bring your boat or jet ski, because we have a private boat ramp for smaller boats ( check dimensions to make sure it fits under the house). There is also a marina that is 10 minutes away if you have a larger boat to launch and tie off to our 150 foot dock.

We have a gas grill and two tables to enjoy a riverfront dinner. Because the house it built on pillars, you have 1000 square feet of covered space underneath to relax. This makes it easy to beat the heat while outside having fun. Once you are done playing in the water, wash off in our outdoor shower that has hot and cold water.

Games, Toys, & Other Amenities:

Provided for your enjoyment are 2 stand up paddle boards, fishing rods, crabbing equipment, 2 kayaks (with kid and adult fitting life vests), small kid sized boogey boards and lots of kid’s beach toys. In addition, we provide a corn hole set and jumbo sized Jenga.

Our Town:

Tappahannock is one of the hidden jewels of Virginia. Come find out why retirees and sport enthusiasts flock to our area! Enjoy shopping or dinner out at several award-winning restaurants.

You have not lived until you have had a burger and shake from award winning NN Burger! If restaurants are not your thing then try your hand and catching your dinner from our dock or pick something up from Food Lion or Walmart, both are 5 minutes from our house.

For those that enjoy a game of golf, bring your clubs and book a tee time at the #6 best golf course in Virginia, Hobb’s Hole is just 8 minutes away.

You can also experience 10 award winning wineries on the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail (by charter boat or a short drive), just minutes from our home, or find out how fresh seafood really taste on the Virginia Oyster Trail. Plan an excursion to the birthplace of Robert E. Lee or George Washington, both a short drive away on the opposite side of the river.

We have Ring cameras only on the front and back of the house for your protection and ours. There are no cameras inside the house, under the raised house or on the covered porch.

An excellent place to stay at a beach with the family. The house is clean, up to date, well maintained, and very well furnished. The kitchen has everything you'd need, and the outdoor area is exceptionally furnished with chairs, tables, hammocks, kayaks, a paddle board, crab net, child toys, and even corn hole! And what's the best part is the convenience of the beach and outdoor area - right underneath and next to the house! I especially appreciate having a covered area to stay in to keep out of the sun when it's too much for me. It's an ideal place for all ages - from little ones to grandparents. There's a lot of privacy as well, but a town is a short drive away (5-7 minutes) that has a Wal Mart, a good grocery store, some good restaurants, and a wonderful produce shop. We've stayed two years in a row now and hope to continue going back in the future.

Another Great Stay

This was our third stay and hopefully won't be our last. Felt like coming home again to this comfortable house, bedrooms, and well equipped kitchen. For our 3-generation family with children age 4, 8, 10, the availability of a pristine beach and sand toys, floats, paddle boards, and kayaks all make for great water time. We all love the fabulous screened porch for watching sunrises. sunsets, nesting osprey, and thunderstorm fireworks. One grandson said, "I can see myself bringing my own children here years from now." How's that for the best review ever?

Relaxing getaway

This is our second visit to this home! It was just as great as the first! Beautiful home and beautiful views.... We spent every day on the beach and dock making everlasting memories together! We will for sure be back again!

Amazing Experience

We booked this place because it was on the water, near to Richmond and accessible for my 84 year old parents. This place was perfect. Beautiful house, beautiful views. They have everything at the house you could possibly need. Just bring your clothes and you are set. We can't wait to come again!

Second stay

We enjoyed our second stay in this house. The owners are very responsive. The house is clean, quiet and comfortable plus it has a beautiful view. The kids loved splashing in the water and kayaking/paddle boarding. We hope to return soon!

Quiet Bliss on the River

The property was perfect for a long weekend getaway of relaxing for a birthday weekend. The dock and beach were a plus and the house was well appointed and comfortable. Being close to the town of Tappahannock was super convenient. We will definitely be back!!

Great stay!

Beautiful property right on the water! Very clean property. Beautiful views and a sandy beach with a pier. Too cold in April to go i. The water, but they have beach toys and kayaks. Very good communication with the property owner.

Relaxing, view

View of bay from porch is perfect, weather didn’t cooperate with our visit as a cold front came through. Inside of house very updated and clean. Not much to do in Tappahannock, but several good restaurants. This is a place for relaxing.

We can't wait to come back!

We had a wonderful weekend away on the river and would definitely like to return. The house was very clean, comfortable and spacious. There was a lot of shaded outdoor space on the porch and below the house. the view of the river was amazing. The kids loved all the beach toys that were provided.

Beautiful

The property was very nice with plenty of room. This was our second time here and this year the wildlife was fantastic. Saw osprey, loons, bald eagles, blue heron, and other birds. The pier is excellent; we caught big catfish and small spot. We did a lot of catch and release. Catfish ranged from 15 to 18 inches! Caught crabs and steamed them up on two occasions. The kitchen had everything we needed. The property was very clean and we loved hanging out on the bottom floor, paddle boarding, canoeing (we brought our own) and even did some yoga while watching the water. Very relaxing. Our two year old granddaughter had a blast. The little beach is perfect for her. There were plenty of beach and water toys for her to pay with. Only thing is be aware of the roadway is always flooded. VDOT was working on the little bridge but it does not look as though they are diverting the water away from the property at this point. That is the only downside to this property just be prepared to drive through salt water to get into the driveway. We absolutely love the property and the sunrises are spectacular!

Everything you could ask for

They literally have everything you need, just pack your clothes and enjoy! The location was very quiet the week we were there so we basically had the beach and river to ourselves. The fishing and crabbing were also great. We can’t wait to come back next year!

A Perfect Place for a Family Get Together at a Beach

Perfect house for a family with young kids. Convenient to beach with enough water items to keep kids and adults entertained. Well maintained, well stocked, clean, and up to date house and very responsive host. Highly recommend!

Beautiful property and location!

We stayed for a week for a family reunion. Great place for young kids and adults alike. Lots of great amenities like the kayaks and paddle boards. The sandy beach was a hit with kids and the water was calm enough for them to enjoy as well. Dock was great for the fishermen for the family. Great place for relaxing.

Peaceful fun

What an amazing place to stay. We arrived with our boys (4 & 7) and immediately dug into all of the fun toys/activities the home has to offer. After long days of swimming, fishing, kayaking and crabbing, the home is a perfect spot to rest as a family. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking meals, and lots of great space to lounge. Not much to do in town, but if you don’t care about that, this place is perfect.

Fantastic kid friendly getaway

The entire booking process and communication with Barbara was quick and prompt. The house itself is beautiful and very well located. We were fortunate that the houses on either side did not have any occupants so it felt like we had the river to ourselves. We brought our 18 month old son and he and absolute ball the entire time. The master bedroom was very later which allowed us to have our son have his floor bed in the room with us. We brought toys not realizing how many NICE kids toys were already at the house. The crown jewel of the house is the completely shaded lower level that is right on the water so we could have the monitor with us as we sat in the sand with our feet in the water. The shops near the house are also fantastic. Highly recommend NN burger and Java Jacks. My wife and I are already planning to return within the next year or 2. It’s a convenient 1.5 hour drive from Richmond which was really nice with a toddler. Can’t recommend this house enough!

Beautiful and relaxing

I can't say enough good things about our stay! The house was beautiful, clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Great fishing off the dock, my husband even caught a sting ray. The beach was wonderful to relax and tan. Did see a few jellyfish in the water during our stay. We spent most of our time on the beach, under the house in all the chairs and hammocks, and in the screened in porch! We will definitely be back.

Rappahannock Retreat at Its Best!

This was our second summer vacation at this location and it felt like coming home for our 3 generations of family. In fact, our 3 young grandsons were already planning to come again next summer before we even left. The children especially loved the sandy beach and many age-appropriate water toys, and the adults loved the paddle board and kayaks that the kids could accompany them on. The home and kitchen were fully equipped and comfortably furnished: all we could ask for. The hospitable and gracious host quickly answered any questions we had. The best room of all? The expansive screened in front porch, especially to watch the sun rise early each morning. Such a wonderful river home where you can be as active or relaxed as you desire. What a find!

Great river house!

We enjoyed all aspects of this house, beach, and dock! The house and location was perfect, just close enough to town but far enough away to be a quiet area! The house was well stocked inside and out! Our boys enjoyed the paddle boys, kayaks and fishing off the dock! I highly recommend this house and the owner was great to work with and easy to communicate with for any needs!

Superb!!

We recently stayed at the river house. It was everything we had hoped for and more. We typically do ocean front vacations, but due to our daughter being disabled we needed a shorter trip, and easy access to sand and water. This place was perfect! You couldn’t get closer. The views are amazing! We loved having the private beach and dock. The entire family had a blast fishing, swimming, and relaxing. Even the teens loved it. It was quiet and peaceful. Everything was as pictured and clean. Barbara was sweet and accommodating! Another plus was how stocked it was with everything you need. Beach chairs, floats, sand toys, crabbing gear, fishing rods, even a baby pool. The inside was just as equipped with a crock pot, extra bedding, beach towels, and more. I never in a million years dreamed a river front vacation could top the ocean, but it did! We cannot wait to return.
