Monte Placido - Villa Kona - Vue sur l'océan - Yoga - Piscine

FALCONA est un appartement situĂ© au deuxiĂšme Ă©tage (avec des escaliers). Il est parfait pour un ou deux couples ou une famille avec 2 enfants. DĂ©tendez-vous sur les balancelles du balcon et profitez de la vue magnifique sur l'ocĂ©an et notre jardin colorĂ©. Installez-vous confortablement dans le salon et regardez un bon film ou un Ă©vĂ©nement sportif sur le tĂ©lĂ©viseur Ă  Ă©cran plat. Beaucoup de stations sont en anglais. Profitez de la cuisine entiĂšrement Ă©quipĂ©e avec une cuisiniĂšre, un four et un grand rĂ©frigĂ©rateur. FALCONA a deux chambres Ă  coucher et une salle de bain. La chambre principale possĂšde un lit king size. La deuxiĂšme chambre a deux lits jumeaux qui peuvent ĂȘtre rĂ©unis pour faire une reine.
Si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez ajouter un lit bébé ou un lit bébé. Le prix indiqué est pour 2. Il y a des frais supplémentaires pour les invités supplémentaires. Pas d'animaux s'il vous plaßt.
MONTE PLACIDO est situĂ© au centre pour explorer les nombreuses plages immaculĂ©es de Samana. Deux piscines sĂ©parĂ©es se prĂ©lasser au bord de la piscine et les salles Ă  manger offrent de l'intimitĂ©. À l'intĂ©rieur de la piscine, vous trouverez une zone peu profonde pour les enfants et une zone profonde pour la baignade. Le studio de yoga Shiva’s Cave est sur place. One of my favorite holiday 'homes'

This place is amazing - we debated whether to stay in the town of Las Terranes or out here and I am SO glad we chose this place. Town is an easy drive and the ability to go into the bustling town, and then come back out to the peace and tranquility of this place was amazing. We LOVED our apartment - kitchen had all that we needed, the balcony was to die for and the bedroom view was spectacular. Highly recommended.

Breathtaking views and cozy stay

The property is UNBELIEVABLE. The views are simply breathtaking. The homes are open to the air bringing in a cool breeze from the ocean. There was never a need for AC. Hosts Don and Diana are welcoming and answered all of our endless questions. You can rent an ATV from them if you need one. And don't forget to check out the yummy French bakeries in town!

Monte Placido is well worth a stay.

Beautiful view from our gorgeous villa overlooking lush green hills and the ocean beyond. Very private villas, each with own view of the stunning scenery. The kitchen is well outfitted, the villa airy and spacious. The hosts Don and Diana were always attentive and ready to answer any questions or help out. Their two dogs Bingo and Jolie are sweet and always kept behind the fence. There are nice walks in the area, lots of interesting birds to sight, Las Terrenas is not far away by motoconcho. It is a lovely, safe, tasteful, interesting place to stay.

Beautiful villa with spectacular view.

Beautiful villa with spectacular views. The property was beautifully landscaped. Nice friendly people to work with. They had a security guard but I never once felt unsafe while traveling in the DR. I enjoyed being so high up and a little bit away yet was able to get to town and beaches within 10 minutes or so. Nice having the local fisherman bring up his catch of the day to purchase. We worked with Flora Tours and Terrys and both were good experiences. Would love to go back and stay for a month.

Enchanting place!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Monte Placido. The property is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in Magnolia, a lovely 2 bedroom home with a breathtaking view of the ocean and valley below. The kitchen had almost everything we could need, and I was so grateful for some details (such as coffee and a small box of milk, dish washing soap, and hand soap) that are often missing in rentals in the DR. The owners are incredibly helpful and gracious. The pool and yoga cave are incredible. Be prepared for the steep driveway - you may not be able to make it without 4 wheel drive. We loved Monte Placido and I hope we can go back!

Monte Placido

I have had the pleasure of staying at Mont Placido, the home of Don & Diana Case on several occassions. Don & Diana are very gracious and make a special effort to insure your stay is a pleasant and confortable. The villa is oustanding with unbelievable ocean views from every room.. The rooms are quite large and the ocean view terrace is very large and where you will spend most of your time. it is fantastic. The gardens and pool area are professional desgined and maintained. You want regret staying at Monte Placido. I plan to return often, infact, I consider Monte Placido my home away from home and my little piece of paradise in the Caribbean.

Amazing hilltop paradise

We were looking for peace and quiet with tropical beauty and found it at Monte Placido. The driveway is a world class hill climb for a 3 cylinder car (splurge for a 4 cylinder!) but its necessary to have the stunning views we enjoyed. It was a nice luxury to have a whole casa to ourselves - the Falcone - and we would request it again for the vistas from the balcony. Don and Diana are responsive hosts who managed to provide a great experience despite the local electric power company going bankrupt, leaving a good chunk of Samana without power for weeks. They were getting solar quotes when we left! Looking froward to a longer stay next year.

Joyful Rejuvenation at Monte Placido

What a view! This place is idyllic, a set of whimsical mountain cottages set discreetly in a lovely, lively garden; birds and blooms and butterflies abound. The owners have taken great care to honor the natural features of the hilltop; each of the terraces has a unique view, and each makes the most of Samana's gorgeous light. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed; inside and outside spaces are equally inviting. Of special note is Shiva's Cave, an open yoga studio set into the hillside in what is still a natural cavern. This space, which can hold up to twenty-five practicing yoginis, is beautifully designed to allow a full view of the valley and the bay below. It's perfect for morning meditation, afternoon asanas, and sundown savasanas, a lovely spot from which to contemplate both earth and sky. If you are visiting the Dominican Republic with aspirations to rest and rejuvenate, Monte Placido is just the place for you.

Paradise seen from Above !

Several times I have been lucky enough to experience life on Monte Placido. I can only agree with the above descriptions : Breathtaking 365° panorama, beautifully maintained property, terraced tropical gardens, the cosy feel of security. Let me add : The Alizé trade winds keep it balmy and breezy. I enjoyed being away from it all yet in touch thanks to internet access. Removed from the noisy chaos of the town and yet having everything easily available. I am French so quality food is high on the priority list. Fresh regional products are easily available at the local fruit and vegetable vendors, the fish market on the beach, moreover there are a French and an Italian supermarket in town. As well as restaurants serving international cuisine. And since a place is always about the people, it's important to say that the owners are very generous about sharing their friends, invitations and clubs, so you are immediately part of the local scene - people, places, activities, and special events - the minute you arrive !

The place to be in DR's Samana!

In all ways, Monte Placido is a wonderful vacation spot. Pictures on the website help capture some of the visual impact of its stunning location, beautiful grounds and lovely accommodations. In no way do the pictures say it all. The experience goes far beyond words. The complex is perched on a hill - giving picture postcard views of the surrounding lush hills and valleys with great ocean views. You'll have plenty of privacy on your porch r in your villa but you'll often find congenial company in the social area around the pool. Monte Placido is also a yoga retreat. We were blown away by the facilities of this hidden away retreat. Be sure to visit the cave - even if you aren't into mediation or yoga. You'll find the most picturesque beaches imaginable just a short distance away. The nearby colorful town of Las Terrenas, full of motorbikes, ood shopping and excellent restaurants, is hectic but can be enjoyable for a few hours. But after leavingthe bustle, it is so good to return to the tranquility and beauty of Monte Placido. I can't end this short review without mentioning the great hosts, Don and Diana as well as the excellent staff at Monte Placido.

Beautiful place to stay!

Monte Placido is a lovely place with a spectacular view of the mountains and ocean. Don and Diana have put a lot of work and loving care into making it a home and a great place to stay. We had a beautiful view from our place. We ended up staying in Jasmin because our place was not quite ready due to Sandy. I know Don and Diana are working hard to update all of their units. We had some trouble finding the place, got lost and we didn't speak any Spanish. We finally reached Don and lead us to his place. It is true, that it is a very steep hill to get up there and it is quite hard to find. The landscaping is an amazing array of beautiful flowers and plants that Don has spent a lot of time in planning and planting. It is amazing the way they have built Monte Placido on a hillside. It is so unique. We loved the infinity pool and ended up spending a lot of time there just relaxing. The weather was beautiful, except for a few doozy storms at night. Don and Diana were very helpful in finding places to go. Our only real problems was that very little English is spoken there and most of the menus were in Spanish and French. We got fresh lobster delivered on one day and when we arrived we had the most delicious Mahi Mahi waiting for us. We enjoyed it on our balcony in candlelight. They also had breakfast and other items stocked in the kitchen. Thank you Don and Diana for being such great hosts.

Monte Placido is everything it is advertised to be

We very much enjoyed our stay in the Falcona villa at Monte Placido. The views were absolutely spectacular and the villa was comfortable. The pasta meal, snacks, rum and breakfast items provided in the fridge were most appreciated after a traveling such a long way from home. We did rent a car at the airport and ended up with some difficulties which Don very graciously helped us to correct. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to take transportation from the airport to Las Terrenas and rent a car from Don as was suggested on the website. Don and Diana were very gracious hosts sharing a lot of information about the area, restaurants, beaches and things to do. The many local beaches are really amazing, and with the lent mask, snorkel and flippers from Don, we were able to do a little snorkeling which was really fun. We didn't end up using the Sailing Club facilities but really loved the Ballenas beach in front of the club with its' beautiful turquoise waters. We thought the best lunch deal in town was at La Serviette and also at Casa Coson at Coson beach which was really delicious and the beach is fun with some surf to ride on. We went to both places twice and were not disappointed. We enjoyed our lunch at the beautiful, upscale Porto, as well. We are foodies, so enjoyable meals are important to us. I do have a suggestion and that is to be more clear on directions to Monte Placido. The sign post mentioned on the directions at Baracoa was not there so the tiny dirt road was challenging to find. However, when we asked a local villager, he jumped in the car and directed us, which was a little disconcerting at first, but worked out well with a tip, of course. Perhaps a big sign on the road on both sides of the street would be helpful for guests to find your lovely villa more easily. Thank you Don and Diana, for making our stay so delightful. Great place to getaway from it all!

My husband & I just returned home from our 11 day stay @ Monte Placido, having celebrated our 10 yr wedding anniversary. This is our 4th time to the DR but our 1st trip to the Las Terrenas area, so we consider ourselves "seasoned" DR travelers. With that said, a.) we will probably never vacation in another area of the DR again & b.) we will be staying at Monte Placido when we return (we will never go back to doing all inclusive ever again). Don & Diana are the absolute BEST at what they do. Although we knew we wanted this trip to be "outside the box" from our others, I was still a bit nervous & did not know what to expect. We wanted a place where we didn't have to deal with the all inclusive madness-you know the crowds at the buffet, the fighting for a chair at the pool or beach, the watered down drinks. We wanted time alone, the quietness, come & go as we pleased. The personal guidance & advice that Don & Diana provided during our stay was second to none. This is by far THE BEST way to get to know the land, it's people & their culture. We could not have done it without the assistance of these 2 wonderful people. We stayed in Lilka which had absolutely gorgeous views of the "hills" and the ocean from our terrace. We took advantage of several optional services that Don & Diana offered. This included the pick up/drop off service to/from the airport, rental of their onsite vehicle (much cheaper than renting at airport so take advantage of it), massage service (wow is all I can say-pure coconut oil-my skin is the softest it will probably ever be!) & 2 dinners cooked for us by Molly. Probably the best dinners you will ever get on the entire Samana peninsula! Absolutely incredible! The amount of food she cooked for 2 could have easily fed 4! Her cooking skills are worth far more than what we paid so we made sure she received a very generous tip! Speaking of tips (propinas), please be mindful of the people who work hard to keep the grounds beautiful and the homes clean. Be generous, after all they are working hard for you to enjoy your vacation and will go out of their way to make sure that you are not disappointed. A big thank you to Jean Claude, Nana, our housekeeper, masseuse (I forgot their names and I apologize) & of course Molly. You were all wonderful & should all be commended for the hard work that you do. If you want to get away from the madness of your everyday lifestyle, this is the place to go. You will NOT regret it!

What an amazing relaxing beautiful stay

Wow where do I start. My wife and I just can't stop talking about how wonderful our stay was. We keep telling each other I wish I was back in the DR again. Let me just say that Don and Diana are so accommodating. They had made sure our stay there was the most memorable trip we could have. Totally awesome. When we had arrived we had dinner prepared for us on our awesome terrace. Which overlooked the mountain top and ocean view. We stayed in the Jasmine. Which I highly recommend. Diana was so sweet with sitting down with us and accommodating Yoga for my wife and any questions we had to make us feel right at home and very comfortable in anything that we wanted to do. Don was great about helping us plan our outings. He sat down and explained where the best spots were, prices, and directions and what to expect. We could not have done it without Don and Diana. We are a pretty active couple so sightseeing and activities is what was on our list. We went to Don's sailing club which was an amazing experience. Went sailing with Saul on one of there catamarans. Swimming in the middle of the ocean with perfect bath water was like a dream come true. Our second outing was horseback riding in the mountains at the waterfalls. The people our so nice in making sure we are having an awesome time. Taking pictures for us. Spectacular views of the hill side and waterfalls. Oh and I cannot forget we did our grocery shopping in town. Then had Mauty the cook prepare our dinners for us. When we would arrive back at the resort everything was done dishes, table set, dinner on the table. Perfect cooking. That was so awesome. We felt so special and treated so fairly threw-out our stay. Among a couple of other things we did is walked the beaches, tanned on the beaches which our simply gorgeous. Did the zip lines in Samana. Wow what an experience of a lifetime. Truly that was the highlight of trip. Did some snorkeling. Very beautiful. The true blue waters, the white sandy beaches average of 88-92 degrees F everyday. I can tell you this. SEJOUR A MONTE PLACIDO

Habitation trÚs bien située en hauteur, loin des bruits de circulation, sur un site trÚs agréable de par la végétation, les fleurs, une piscine avec terrasse couverte avec vue sur la mer et cette végétation trÚs luxuriante, un barbecue. La location est bien aménagée, un grand salon cuisine avec une grande terrasse ou l'on peut prendre tous les repas, deux chambres, salle de bains, et surtout une ventilation au plafond trÚs appréciée. Le propriétaire est trÚs accueillant, il vous donne toutes les informations utiles pour un agréable séjour. Son personnel est aussi trÚs apprécié pour ses services.

merveilleuses vacances

Le Paradis! Nous avons passĂ© presque 3 semaines Ă  Monte Placido, et ce fut un bonheur. La gentillesse de jean claude, toujours prĂȘt Ă  nous rendre service, et grace Ă  lui nous avons goutĂ© au "pain Coco"! L'habitation trĂšs spacieuse et agrĂ©able, bien ventilĂ©e(sans climatisation), mais grace Ă  des ventilateurs plafond, et ça change tout. Une vue magnifique, des cocotiers,et la mer au loin, le rĂ©gal des yeux au rĂ©veil. Par contre arriver Ă  Monte Placido se mĂ©rite! la petite route pour y accĂ©der monte beaucoup, il ne faut pas y arriver de nuit. Mais par la suite grace Ă  la location de voiture Ă  Don, pas de problĂšme pour faire tous les jours une plage diffĂ©rente, Ă  seulement quelques kilomĂštres! et en fin de journĂ©e il est trĂšs reposant de se retrouver en dehors de l'agitation de Las Terrenas! enfin nous sommes repartis trĂšs reposĂ©s, et c'Ă©tait notre but principal. Merci Ă  Don, Diana et Jean claude. Egalement fĂ©licitations Ă  Don pour les vĂ©gĂ©taux qui entourent les habitations!

Monte Placido is truly a little piece of heaven on earth. There is so much good about it that makes for a wonderful, laid back, natural beauty infused experience. The location is magical - with fantastic views of the tropical vegetation and ocean. The surroundings are stunning - with the very well taken care of and very rich botanical gardens on the property and the infinity pool. The accommodations are a perfect blend of comfortable, practical and unique. This is the ideal place for a getaway where your priority is relaxing, a calm and beautiful surrounding and connection with nature. The most beautiful beaches start at only a 5 minute drive away, and the town of Las Terrenas with its fresh fish market, grocery stores, french bakery and loads of restaurants and shops is only a 15 minute drive away. Other pluses - BBQ near the pool, friendly staff and attentive hosts. Oh, and the yoga cave and massage room too... Loved finding this place and our stay there - definitely coming back again and again!

Wonderful hosts, comfortable environment

Don and Diana go out of there way to make sure you feel comfortable, relaxed and welcomed at their "retreat" home. It is quiet (except for the wake up call from the roosters) and away from the busy city. But, it is close enough that if you need anything or want to get to the beach, it's only a 10-15 minute drive. I would recommend a car to provide flexibility, but the owners do give other options. We spent one entire day by the pool and enjoyed the view! I would highly recommend this place to the travelers that are looking for a true get away. Enjoy!

Top notch property with amazing views!!!!

Everything about this location was amazing. The owners staff and everything I was able to do and experience on this trip to Monte Placido the best vacation I have taken in over 10 years. Would def go back. And I highly recommend this location for anyone no matter your past travel experiences. The area was completely safe and secure. One of the most beautiful location I've been to in the Dominican Republic.

Very special place

This place was incredible. Unbelievable views from the house and the pool. The gardens were so beautifully landscaped and the house was unique and very comfortable. My husband was a little nervous about no air conditioning but there were constant breezes and the fans above the beds kept us cool at night. It got a bit hot in the house in the morning but it wasn't a big deal because we went to the pool or the beach. The hosts were very helpful and it was really nice to have our first meal prepared for us by Jeannette. Definitely stay here if you want a unique and totally different experience than the hotel environment. I will say if you're renting a car the road up to the property is quite steep and it was slippery when it was wet so an economy car might have had an issue going up it when the roads are wet. My 3 year old son loved the geese and turkeys on the property, the yoga cave and the pool were perfect for exploring. We were there in the off season so we had the place to ourselves. If felt like a private retreat. Simple yet lovely accommodations. I would totally stay again and recommend it to the adventure seeking, non-resort minded traveler

beautiful vacation homes atop a lush hill !

The vacation homes were truly a breathtaking paradise. Topped off by the infinity pool and yoga cave, we never wanted to leave! Other than some plumbing and bug issues it was a dream vacation with memories to last a lifetime. Thank you again Diana and Don, we will be back soon!

Je me devais de laisser un message aprĂšs deux semaines passĂ©es Ă  Monte Placido et je dois dire que ces vacances vont rester dans les annales. Pour commencer parlons du lieu : Monte placido a l'avantage d'ĂȘtre situĂ©e dans les hauteurs (je ne vous parle pas de la vue panoramique du pays ...) et se situe entre toutes les plus belles plages du coin : Bonita, Cosos, Rincon et Moron. La rĂ©gion est magnifique et si je devais faire le point sur tout ce que j'ai vu je pourrais Ă©crire un annuaire 
. La rĂ©sidence prĂ©sente l'avantage d'ĂȘtre trĂšs proche de la ville en scooter (que les propriĂ©taires peuvent louer aux locataires ainsi qu'un quad) ce qui permet de participer Ă  la vie nocturne du pays, de faire des courses sans partir Ă  l'autre bout du monde et surtout de ne pas se retrouver en plein milieu des quartiers de touristes. Les propriĂ©taires sont vraiment sympathiques et Donald (le propriĂ©taire) est totalement bilingue français anglais et espagnol ce qui aide vraiment beaucoup. Toujours de bon conseils, ils nous ont aiguillĂ© ma copine et moi durant notre sĂ©jour : ces gens sont trĂšs sympathiques et on ne se sent vraiment pas traitĂ© comme un touriste. Pour ce qui est du confort, la villa est parfaitement Ă©quipĂ©e (service de maison impeccable) et est trĂšs sĂ©curisĂ©e (mĂȘme si je pense que la rep dom est contrairement aux idĂ©es reçus un pays calme et pas dangereux). Pour les gens casaniers, il y a mĂȘme une piscine Ă  dĂ©bordement incroyable avec vue imprenable sur le pays 
. une vraie carte postale (il y a mĂȘme un barbecue Ă  cotĂ© de la piscine). Bref, si vous voulez de vraies vacances, souffler, voir du pays et des gens sympathiques, je vous recommande vivement d'aller y faire un tour vous allez pouvoir dĂ©connecter du quotidien !

We have lived in Las Terrenas since 2002 and are happy to share our helpful experiences and advise. At the same time, we know when to be hands off and we will respect your privacy. It is important to note that we live on-site. Our home has a reception area, so you will feel at ease stopping by to talk with us. In a rare occasion if we are not home, we have a caretaker and his family that also live on site. Jean Claude speaks Spanish and basic English. He is also available to help you. A very comprehensive “Guest Book” is in each home. There you will find many answers to frequently asked questions and information about excursions, shopping and bus schedules.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The Maid works in the mornings M-F. Linens, including beach towels are provided. Bath towels are changed twice a week and the bed sheets and beach towels, once a week. A washing machine is available for use or the maid will wash, dry and fold your laundry for $5 US per load. Snorkeling equipment and beach chairs are available for use. Wi-Fi is free. Monte Placido is proud to be “GREEN”. We have both solar power and city power. If all else fails, we also have a large back-up generator. You will never be without electricity here! PLEASE TAKE DRIVING DIRECTIONS EVEN IS YOU ARE TAKING A TAXI FROM THE AIRPORT. DO NOT ALWAYS DEPEND ON GPS

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

MONTE PLACIDO is on a hill top overlooking the ocean. The residence is gated and safe. We always enjoy the nice cooling Trade Winds from the Atlantic and therefore have very few mosquitos. We are not ON the BEACH; however, we are centrally located to the many beaches in the area. Drive down our hill and you are in a typical Dominican Village. We love it because you get the feel of the local culture and charming, friendly people. An elementary school is in our neighborhood. If you feel inclined, they are so very happy to accept donations of easy reading books in Spanish or other school supplies. Rancho Playa is also in our neighborhood very close by. They offer horseback riding excursions up the mountains and to the beaches.
A short walk down our hill to the main road you will find public transportation. A "Guagua" pick-up truck goes back and forth to Las Terrenas about every half hour dusk to dawn. Hop on and ride for about one dollar. We also have a trusted “moto-concho” driver. We can call him to bring you back and forth to town on his motorbike(s). Taxis are also available. In addition, we have a friend with a pick-up truck that you can reserve to take you to town and be your designated driver. At the same spot on the main road you can get a bus to and from Santo Domingo three times a day. It is an easy airport trip. Many of our guest take a short taxi ride form the airport in Santo Domingo to the bus station for TRANSPORTE LAS TERRENAS. The bus costs RD$500 (about $8 US) and will stop at our corner on the main road 3 times a day. We will be happy to meet the bus at Calle Luna and bring you up our hill. Although guests have been able to manage using only public transportation we recommend that you rent your own vehicle so that you are free to explore the Samana Peninsula. The main road system is safe and in good condition and a 4x4 or SUV is not required.
