Relaxed 1 BR Near Lake with Fast WiFi, Fire Pit +

This is an affordable Michigan cottage that sleeps up to 2 people. It has window A/C unit, gas furnace, keyless & contactless entry, complete kitchen, outdoor space, and comes professionally cleaned and sanitized with fresh linens, towels, coffee station with grounds, and basic soaps.

We have updated many parts of the cottage (see pictures) and continue to do so, however the cottage will show its age and character at times. If you are looking for a white-glove experience, this may not be the best option for you. However, if you are looking for a clean , comfortable, & affordable space, very close to beaches and well-positioned between Saint Joseph & South Haven (in a quiet area of Hagar Shores), with all of the amenities of a home, this is a great option for your stay!

This smaller yet welcoming and restful one bedroom cottage sleeps up to 2 guests comfortably on a brand new queen bed with luxury mattress. The space is fully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, gas stove, refrigerator, microwave and yes, coffee pot. Make yourself at home!

This cottage includes 3 rooms: one complete bedroom with Roku TV and closet, a full kitchen with small dining area, and a full bathroom. All linens, down-pillows, and kitchen ware is provided to you; including fresh coffee grounds.

The cottage is unit "B" in a 3-cottage building. There is a private exterior door with keypad entry. The cottage is located in between "A" and "C".

Located 15 minutes from South Haven, St. Joseph, and within .8 of a mile from public beach access. Come and go as you please. Key code access on the door and Wifi access.

This property is situated on a nice 3/4 acre and there is plenty of open space outside for activities and a couple nice big shade trees.

Other things to note:
Daily laundry service and house keeping is not provided. Each guest will be provided with 1 towel, 1 hand towel and 1 one wash cloth for the duration of their stay. Please provide your own towels for the beach. Hand soap and dish soap is provided but not shampoo or conditioner.

Small but nice

Very near public access to the Lake Michigan beaches (nice sunsets) - no ice, though, new refrigerator apparently. No water as promised. It is out in the country and a bit of a drive to Benton Harbor / St Joseph. Good for 1-2 people but no more. Would recommend.

We loved the little cottage, it fit our needs perfectly and will rent them again! Out in the county side but mins from either St Joseph or South Haven! Very responsible pricing also. Totally recommend them!

Perfect cottage, perfect atmosphere!

Cottage B had everything we needed for our long weekend getaway! Very clean! The grill we didn't use appeared brand new! The newer looking air conditioner kept the place nice & cool! There was a little bit of starter wood in the fire pit and we found more a ways down Blue Star highway towards Glenn! Tiscornia Park in St. Joseph was magnificent for sunset! There's so many fun beautiful beaches to explore from 1 mile away to 20! The Italian restaurant across the street, walking distance from the cottage was nice to have around! We took a little walk down the dirt road. The area felt more secluded than it really was. We saw 4 wheelers. There was an upper peninsula feel to the area. Away from it all, but close to everything! Yes! Our stay was perfect!

Disappointed

Although the cottage was clean, the exterior was very tired and needed some work. When we pulled up to the property, all I could see was the broken blinds on the front door. Cold water tap in the kitchen didn't work beyond a dribble. Stains on the couch and muddy kick marks on the front door. Hole in the metal on the screen door. Never again.

Cute little place!

Check-in was easy and thoroughly explained by the property owners. We found the location with ease and parking was really close to the rental. ***This place was clean and had the essentials that you need. We took a walk around the neighborhood, it was super cute and seems secluded from the busy street nearby. ***If you are a traveler that doesn't require wheelchair accessibility, I would recommend Hagar Shores Beach about 1.4 miles down the road. Not very populated and perfect for sunset (lots of stairs to access). *** Book this place if you plan to be on the go for most of your trip! There is no living room so there isn't anywhere to hangout in your down time except for the bedroom and dinner table. The picture of the bedroom shows a black chair which is not in there. Instead, there is a cute work desk/lamp with smaller black chair. *** Hammocks listed in description and pictures will require you to set them up yourself (located in a game box in the front of the property) and make sure you bring lawn chairs/wood to sit around the fire if that sounds like your plan! ***You will be staying near other people in case you miss that in the details. ***Upon arrival, there were a surplus of bugs floating around in the kitchen area and bedroom. They were also in the bed! Just your simple outside bugs, nothing scary. The source of this was behind the air conditioning unit, there is a gap in the window that was allowing bugs to come in! You can stuff it with a towel and that made the bug count drop real quick. With all being said, my husband and I enjoyed our stay. Don't let my review scare you! I just made it as informative as I could. We used some of the yard games and explored the neighborhood a couple times. It has a sense of seclusion due to the forested area. The bed was comfortable, shower hot, kitchen clean and cute...It was very relaxing and I'm glad we chose the location. The location is of equal distance from Saint Joseph and South Haven, both towns about 15 minutes away. We spent one day in each town and enjoyed that a lot. It was nice to be able to be back to our rental so quickly! The place has a lot of charm.

Cute and very clean inside

The inside was quaint and very clean. Outside was very over grown and needed some tending. There’s no living room area with seating. Just a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

Outdoors Needs TLC

The inside of the cabin is exactly as described. It's very clean and updated. It is small but has everything you need. One call out is, we went to use the oven and the gas smell was very strong and we ended up turning it off and not using it. The outdoors, definitely needs some TLC and is very overgrown. Very overgrown.

We had a wonderful experience. Perfect between both St Joseph, and New Haven. For us it was great size due to fact we were not there much, but also enjoyed fire by fire pit, and being able to cook on the grill. Loved our stay, and price was great. Didn't need to contact manager for anything so we didn't bother him. Will definitely be back!!!!

Nice Weekend Getaway

This cottage is a great option for a couples get away! My husband and I had a great time using this as our home away from home for the weekend. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the cottage itself was extremely clean.

Triathlon Treat!

My husband and I were in town so he could compete in Ironman Steelhead. It was the perfect spot to stay! Right along the bike route for those that would want to cheer from a different vantage point. We will definitely be renting this place again the next time he does Steelhead!

We have been traveling to Southwest Michigan for summer vacations and winter getaways for years to enjoy everything this area has to offer. The sandy beaches, small town charm, plethora of wineries, relaxed lake setting, and beautiful sunsets are only a small sample of what drew us here. Finally, a couple of years ago, we were able to move permanently to the area and call Southwest Michigan home. We are now excited for you to share memorable experiences in this little slice of heaven!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

This property reminds us of the cozy cottages that we used to stay in when travelling to this area. Built decades ago and newly renovated, this cottage offers all of the amenities you need while reserving the relaxed, quaint setting that you yearn for when visiting the lake.

Known for its sandy beaches and dense woods, Hagar Shores is conveniently located right north of Saint Joseph and just south of South Haven. There is a pizza & burger place right across the street that is walkable. There is also a Dollar General about a 1/2 mile up the road for any last minute needs.

The cottage sits right off of two lane highway M-63. M-63/Blue Star Highway offers the scenic route connecting St. Joseph and South Haven. Along this route you will have convenient access to free public beaches , state parks and bike trails. While our area is generally a quiet location, the convenient Blue Star Highway may have peak times of road noise.

The fast WiFi allows you to work while onsite, or stream movies on the Roku stick included on the TV. There are many outdoor offerings at the cottage, including a fire pit, hammocks, picnic area, and corn hole boards. We encourage you to relax, settle in, and make yourself at home ... and most importantly, remember that you will now be on Lake Time!
