Wonerful Place, wonderful people

My wife and I returned from Hawaii to the mainland and arrived quite late in the evening. The apartment was clean, and beautifully decorated with upgraded appointments, fine linens, fresh towels and a kind note from the owner. The views were spectacular and the location convenient to everything we needed. It was also quiet enough for reading and some cocktail conversation on the patio.

We could not have been happier and would certainly recommend the Saratoga Guest House to our friends or anyone in need of a beautiful place to stay near to Silicon Valley.

Location! Location! Location!

My family and I stayed at the Blue Gum Estate from July 10 through July 18. Although the guest house is somewhat dated (no dishwasher garbage disposal) it was safe, clean, and well-maintained.

The location was perfect for our visit to California. We loved the fact that it was away from all of the hustle and bustle, but if we wanted to go shopping or grab a bite to eat we were just five to ten minutes away.

The beds in the guest house were very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with all the essentials. We relaxed in the jacuzzi tub after a long day of exploring. Having the use of a washer and dryer downstairs was great. We had forgotten to pick up detergent while at the store, so we were pleased to find detergent available to us. We had everything we needed.

We met the owners. They were warm, friendly and available for anything that we might have needed. Additionally, Saratoga is one of the most expensive cities in the country, and for the price you couldn’t beat this property!

The cottage was nice but the grounds are very overgrown and not usable.

Overall the experience was fine. The cottage itself was nice with a well-equipped kitchen (although no garbage disposal or dishwasher), the beds were comfortable and the internet/wifi was great. The disappointment was with the general condition of the outdoor property and grounds. They have not been maintained well so they aren't usable or desirable. It's such a lovely area, with a nice view, so it is a shame it has not been kept in better condition. We were there for 11 days with our dogs and, because the grounds weren't usable, we had to drive them back up to the main street to walk them in the surrounding neighborhood - which is lovely - but got to be very inconvenient for that lengthy period of time. I would recommend it for shorter stays and without dogs who need to be walked several times a day.

Réponse du propriétaire: This property is a hillside property and has a natural setting. Most hillside properties have unusable land that's why you get awesome valley views like this estate has. However, I will attempt to find the overgrown mentioned in your review and have our gardeners take care of this right away. Thanks for the review!!

Comfortable, great location.

We use VRBOs and AirBnB for all our vacations and have been lucky to have had good experiences so far. The guest house in Saratoga was no exception. The property manager had excellent communication as we got close to our arrival date and throughout. The suite has a super comfortable bed and pretty much everything you need to cook, clean and enjoy a comfortable stay. The property is in a quiet upscale neighborhood and felt perfectly safe. The view from the suite shows the lights in the valley at night and lush green foliage during the day. The gardens on the property are wonderful with a lemon tree right outside the suite entrance. (fresh lemonade can't be beat). We were very happy with our stay and found everyone to be super friendly and hospitable.

A few concerns

One concern was the greenish pool quite near the over-the-garage apartment. The second concern was that both double beds were in the same room, which also adjoined the living space, so parents and children had to sleep, eat, and attune to the same schedules. The third concern is that the property was almost too secluded, off a narrow roadway, so that if something happened (flood, earthquake, theft, fire), it might be difficult to get quick assistance from medical or police. I think it is a better place for adults to stay rather than a family with small children. And compared to other accommodations, it was pricey - though the small kitchen was beneficial.

Réponse du propriétaire: I am responding to our previous guest review which is at best absurd. First: the bluish pool sits next door to the guest house suite and is completely fenced off and not part of the rental unit. Second: our pictures that are displayed on our site clearly shows both the queen and the double size beds in the very large bedroom. The guest Bonnie R should have known before she booked with us if this was not going to work for her and simply booked a two bedroom place elsewhere. Also, there are double doors that separates the bedroom from the living room so all she had to do was close the doors, that's easy right? Third: her concern of being too secluded I find humorous. The fire station is just 3 minutes or 0.8 miles away and the Saratoga Sherriffs office is just 6 minutes or 2.3 miles away. The town of Los Gatos is again, just 6 minutes or 2.3 miles away from the guesthouse suite. Perhaps she meant to say that it had a private setting instead of secluded. Fourth: Bonnie R thought the unit was a little on the pricy side but yet it is one if not the lowest price unit in the Saratoga area. Some people are just negative and just look for things to complain about. This is evident because looking at our past guests reviews, they are all 5 star ratings.
