This cabin has so much going for it.Pros:- Great layout with main living space on first floor and entire second floor as main bedroom- Laundry and kitchen well stocked (although not a single seasoning or oil, even salt and pepper, were there. We shopped for groceries and ate in several times. Fridge ice maker works!)- Bed had cushy topper some people may love but we removed it and found the mattress very comfy on its own.- Hot tub available on deck- Driveway has 2 spots, enabling you to turn around for ease of exit.- Beautiful area on the mountain with sunrise views if you walk up and down the street. An obstructed view is visible out of the upstairs bedroom.- TVs worked well and had cable networks as well as streaming.Cons:- Humidity in the cabin was above 80% our entire stay, which owner says is normal in the area so we can't fault them. It was just challenging that our boots wouldn't dry after getting wet during a rainy hike.- Sheets were synthetic, which we find makes it difficult to regulate body temp and get a good sleep. Would have preferred cotton or at least notice so we could have brought cotton sheets.- Driveway is super steep (standard for the area) and even our SUV labored to get up but we are also not accustomed to this steep of a slope. The roads leading to the cabin are also windy with blind hills and steep drop-offs on the sides. Say your prayers and cross your fingers. :) We were still happy to avoid the congestion of downtown Gatlinburg.
The cabin was beautiful, clean, and the bed was amazing. The driveway was very steep (22) but it wasnât too terrible in a truck. We got to see 6 bears while we were there!
This was our first experience renting outside of hotels, and it was incredible. Sophia was attentive, answered our questions quickly, and was so kind and helpful. The place was perfect! So cozy and clean and in the most perfect area. SO much wildlife. It was an amazing experience.
The property looks exactly like the photos online. Our problem with the property is that the hot tub is back off in a corner with spiderwebs everywhere but, eventually I tried it, and only two of the jets things work and it was some type of flim in the water, which, I didn't see until I turned on the light. Going on the inside there was a dead bug in the refrigerator and two of the burners were not working on the stove. Going upstairs to the jacuzzi it was a nightmare my husband turned it on and a lot of black stuff shot out, I'm glad I wasn't sitting down in it. Then there were mouse droppings on the bed and in the bathroom. We actually seen him run under the door. My husband and I looked at each other and was like "did you see that." The driveway is crazy but to the owners credit she did mention it was steep. My anxiety was through the roof dealing with this driveway. And then we left on the 2nd day and upon returning the code wouldn't open the door smh. Reached out to the owner and she apologized and had us open it manually. More steps for us to be able to get in, which I will not disclose. Maintenance never showed up. So, in conclusion the money spent for the amenities was wasted on this property. Because of the owners quick response to my text and the property looks just like the pictures online I'm giving 2 stars. Hopefully I will be able to upload some pictures later.
This is a hard review to write because the overall design of the house is lovely and comfortable. The upstairs suite is especially inviting. The location is excellent for those wanting to use the national park. But there were some very off-putting things about the house that led us to feel that the owners really didn't care about the rental or welcoming visitors. Few were big but added together it was irritating. Some things just didn't work. The front burner on the stove didn't function, The bathtub spa upstairs had jets that didn't work. The hot water heater couldn't deliver enough hot water to do more than warm your feet. Some things just felt penny-pinching. There were only 2 table knives and a few forks. The knife set was terribly dull. There was absolutely nothing stocked i the refrigerator or cupboards. No type of cooking oil, spices, or even waters. Bare bones. Even the coffee supplies consisted of exactly 1 filter for each day we stayed and three dreadful coffee packets that were supposed to be for 4 but really made only 2 cups if you wanted more than brown water. Not even salt and pepper. I couldn't find the hair dryer anywhere and contacted the host twice with no replies. We DID have a reply early when I lost the key code directions from my phone and she did reply immediately for which I was grateful. The driveway which is mentioned in the descriptions is truly STEEP.. We have 4wd and had to back up and try it again at least twice. It was concerning.
Excellent cabin (if you don't mind steep driveways)
This was our second time to stay here and we couldn't have been more pleased. The fact that there are two woodburning fireplaces is what keeps us coming back. The location is fantastic also. The hosts were very quick to respond to our needs during our stay, so we will definitely be back again!
Space, location and view from our cabin was great! Quick drive into town. The cabin was very clean inside, but could use some TLC on the outside. The driveway was steep and could be a concern for some, but the biggest issue was it was also broken up by tree roots and very slippery. We had an AWD and struggled, but we were also concerned with getting damage to the vehicle. There is a spot to park at the bottom on the road way however, carting up luggage on the slippery, icy drive would have been difficult.4pm check in, we thought was a little late, especially as we discovered there was no wood supplied for the fireplace. We thought there would be at least the first night supplied to get started. We then discovered only 1 small wine glass in the cupboard, so we had to head back out to find, and purchase these items. The wood would not have been an issue if it were mentioned in the property brief that it was not supplied, but for what is a couples accommodation, there should be adequate glassware provided. We later found there was also no cutting board. The view from the balcony was lovely, and it was nice to have a clean grill to cook on the BBQ. However there was what looked like a broken chair and rubbish stuffed behind it. The spa was lovely, very clean. While in our opinion, there were some negatives, and perhaps not things that would bother others, overall we did enjoy our stay and would return.
Wonderful Cabin Experience with One Small Challenge
We had a fantastic stay at this cabin near Gatlinburg! The location is beautiful and peaceful, making it the perfect getaway spot. The cabin itself was cozy, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The only issue we encountered was the steep drivewayâit can be a bit tricky, especially if youâre not used to mountain roads. However, it was well worth it for the amazing views and privacy. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this cabin to others looking for a relaxing retreat in the Gatlinburg area!
We had an excellent stay. Host was responsive and helpful. Property was exactly as shown and described. So close to the park and town but still felt tucked away. We did see some bears on and near the property which was really cool. Driveway is really steep. We have a 4 wheel drive vehicle so it was no issue but would definitely be a factor if you didnât. Hot tub was awesome after long days in the park. We would definitely visit again.
Our goal: explore the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. This location was the perfect home base for our 4 day trip. We had been hoping for more views of the mountains, but itâs set back a little from the âedgeâ so our view was more wooded. That ended up being okay, because we pretty much got up and left and didnât get back until dark! The washer/dryer came in handy. The only thing missing was a hairdryer, which I forgot to pack. A high vehicle was important as the driveway grade was pretty steep (24°) and I fear a car would have bottomed out.
