The location was great, staff was attentive, easily accommodated five adults, very clean. The downside was there is an ant problem in the whole building that affects the apartment. It is very loud is it is above a restaurant all night long.
We had to spend first night of our holiday in a hotel
When we arrived in Seville we rang the apartment to check everything was okay, the contact told us (or rather our Spanish friends - she spoke no English) that we couldn't stay there for the first night, and to book ourselves into a hotel, which they would pay for. By this time it was 4pm and luckily our friends sorted everything out and gave us a lift to our hotel. Without their help our situation would have been so much worse. The contact at the apartment spoke no English - seriously, none at all. When we saw her the next morning all she seemed interested in was collecting the cash for the cleaning and heating. (Now I think of it she charged us for seven nights heating and we only stayed six. Oh well, that's the least of our worries.) To this day I still don't know why we couldn't stay in the apartment that first night. We've had no explanation. We've stayed in dozens of of places throughout Europe and never had anything like this happen. It's outrageous really. As for the apartment itself it wasn't great. It was clean but if you opened the blinds it was possible for the neighbours to see in, so not much natural light. Also bear in mind there's no WiFi or satellite TV. Nor is there a kettle, which is a bit annoying if you like a cup of tea. The area is rough by Seville standards although it felt safe enough for my wife and daughters. It's not far to walk to the river and across the bridge into the city centre. I wouldn't book the apartment again and I couldn't recommend it to anyone else either. I just couldn't trust the owners to make it available for the agreed time. Very disappointed. If it hadn't been for our Spanish friends negotiating with the apartment owner, the Danish company who organised the booking (Novasol) and sorting out the hotel it could have been a horribly frustrating first few hours in Seville. No one comes out of this experience well. Homeaway should consider seriously whether this apartment meets its standards. I will think twice before I deal again with anyone involved in this debacle.
