One room cabin set on our farm for a peaceful getaway.
Our cabin is built out of old wood and doors found on the farm. It is surrounded by pastures that are the home to our cows, horses, goats, miniature donkey and chickens. The highlight of a stay at BWJ Cabin would be to sit on the front porch looking out over the landscape and do nothing.
This stay was nothing short of perfect, in large part due to Melba and her family were incredible hosts. My husband and I drove up from TN for a family reunion, and loved having a place to stay all to ourselves. The location was great--only about 20 minutes to where we needed to go in any direction. Melba even gave us permission to go look at their new baby goats, which absolutely made my day. I cannot wait to come back! I will mention that it does get bright as the sun rises, and the best is VERY soft. Neither of those things bother me, but if you like to sleep in and/or prefer a firm mattress, you may not get the best sleep while staying here.
Melba's place is very welcoming and has all the necessary amenities for a nice stay. The check in process is very easy and the house itself is well equipped with everything you might need for a pleasant stay! It was clean and had a lovely view out of the back patio.
We really did enjoy our stay here. Everything was so clean and welcoming. The sunrise we woke up to every morning was absolutely amazing! The cows and goats were great to look at each day as well! If you want a peaceful, quiet getaway, this is the place to be! Thank you Melba for the hospitality. It really was a wonderful time!
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was super quiet. The goats and chickens made our trip extra fun. The peaceful porch made me not want to leave. The host is amazing! She has worked very hard to make this cabin special. I loved reading about the history of the cabin and the items inside.
I wanted to take âbirthday Manâ to a peaceful getaway/outing. The lake came to mind and to stay at a decent cabin. The whole concept of the âMountainsâ. Perfect beautiful layout of the cabin. Nicely and pleasantly built. Nice forest/mountain views and privateâ€ïž. 15 mins from the lake attractions and the smith mountain lake is 15 mins right after the attractions. Very convenient. Different scenery was my whole concept. He loved it and thought is was very thoughtfulâ€ïž I asked him scale 1-10 of how I didâŠhe said 10 â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž from a wife thats so in love. This cabin is for âloversââ€ïž
We enjoyed week in a beautiful home with a stunning view from the best porch swing, complete with excellent WiFi, fresh eggs from the chickens next door, and baby goats. What more could we ask for? My husband and I were looking for rest and peace, and thatâs exactly what we got. Melba was an excellent host and even invited us to see the birth of two beautiful baby goats. Snuggling with those babies during their first few days of life was the BEST! The bed was wonderfully comfortable, with soft linens and lots of pillows, and the heated towel rack in the bathroom was a great extra touch.
Thank you to Melba for a fabulous week!
Don't spend hours looking over property after property, your time is too valuable. Click book-it and enjoy your stay.......you will not be disappointed. Like the music group, (The Eagles) say: "I got a Peaceful, Easy Feeling" is what this accommodation delivers.
Everything was so perfect, highly recommend! You're in the countryside but with every modern luxury (heated towel rack!!!) you could ever want. That porch bed swing is definitely the best view on the property!
From first site of the pictures online the cabin space looked very inviting but a huge surprise in person. The cabin is spacious and the view is beautiful. Melba and her family did an awesome job with the decor from the old barn doors used in the kitchen and bathroom to the rustic pieces throughout the cabin. The nice big windows covered with the sheer curtain made you feel like you were at a retreat for sure. Looking out at the farm land and animals was truly peaceful. My husband had no idea where I was taking him and when he walked into the cabin he was in loved with the place as well. Thank you Melba for sharing this gem with the world!
My family lives on the Black Water Junction Farms. We have cattle, goats, chickens and horses that roam the surrounding pastures. We host weddings at The Pavilion at Black Water Junction, wake skating at the Black Water Junction Wake Park, and do everything as a family. We actually built the cabin ourselves, as well as maintain every aspect of our farm and business life. I work on the farm all around the cabin. I am available 24/7 by text or phone call should something come up. If you see me feeding the animals and want to help, come on over. If you see me as you drive out, wave and keep going is okay too. If you want to check in and check out without ever seeing or talking to me, that is okay too. This is your get-a-way and I want you to have a wonderful stay at Black Water Junction.
Very rural area. Only a mile from Smith Mountain Lake. Great marina with bar and grill only 2 miles from cabin. 1/2 mile from BWJ Wake Park and The Pavilion at Black Water Junction wedding venue. 10 miles from grocery store, restaurants, bowling, movie theater and shops.
All of our guests comment on the little things about our cabin that make their stay perfect. The hot water in the shower, the heated towel bars, the fresh eggs in the refrigerator from the girls next door, being greeted at the fence by the goats, the gazillion stars on a clear night, the amazing sunrise, and the sheer peace and quiet of the country setting.
