Come sleep in history! The Nauvoo Manor affords you the opportunity to stay in a Nauvoo Mormon Pioneer home! This historic home is just seven blocks from the temple and sleeps up to nine comfortably.
One of only a few Nauvoo red brick Pioneer homes not owned by The LDS church. The Manor is located next to the historic road to Carthage.
Rufus Abbott started building this home in 1839 and finished it in 1845 just before his family left with Brigham Young to travel to Salt Lake City in February 1846.
As an authentic Nauvoo red brick pioneer home, this home will give you the experience of Nauvoo and let you live where the pioneers lived. You will experience the history you learned about at the church restoration sites down on the flats. A unique and special opportunity indeed!
The property is lovely and so well cared for. It is clean and has everything you need. the furnishings and decor from the time period makes it feel like youâve gone back in time but you still have the modern conveniences. We loved staying here. So close to all the attractions and Old Nauvoo.
This was the perfect place to enjoy the church history in Nauvoo. The location was great and staying in a pioneer home added a lot to our experience. Knowing a little about the background of the family living here during that time was enriching. Great communication with the owners. Thanks for letting us stay in your home. Highly recommend staying here if in Nauvoo for church history. We would stay here again in the future.
What a sweet stay! It was very cute. The ac was nice. There is some wildlife that is fun to watch play in the yard. We liked the big windows and lacy curtains. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very functional. Everything was really tidy. We liked all the room spaces that made the house feel large. It felt like we were part of old Nauvoo staying here. Thank you for sharing your home!
It was so fun to stay in a home much like the ones we toured. It really brought us back in time. Tina was so responsive. I don't think I've ever had a host be so good about that. They've done a great job so far in restoring it. I look forward to seeing what else you do. AND the beds were comfortable Very important.
We had a fabulous time staying in the historic Rufus Abbott home. Great communication with the host! It was like going back in time with the decor and treasures displayed
The Rufus house is close to historic Nauvoo. The host, Tina, was great and sent us info before to make our trip more meaningful. Home is old historic home, bwork modern updates. The host provides snacks and food that made our stay really nice. The dryer was making noise & did not work great but the host said she was getting it repaired.
Staying in an authentic pioneer house just added to the experience of being in Nauvoo.the home was conviently located, well equipped, and clean. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Perfect place to stay when visiting historic Nauvoo. Two of the rooms are up steep stairs. So make sure your group is capable of that. Lovely property. Would definitely stay again when we come back.
Recently took a trip with my Mother to visit historic sites in the area. Specific to Nauvoo, the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is as fascinating and faith building as it is tragic. Being able to stay in a house dating back to the time when the saints lived in the area, while enjoying some modern amenities, was incredible. The home is beautiful and convenient, while still retaining its antique charm. The property hosts were awesome to work with, communicated regularly, and helped to provide us with an amazing experience we will always cherish.
We were doing a 2 week road trip and this property was right in the middle of our trip. It was perfect as it allowed us to spread out and get a little bit of space from each other (verses a hotel room) and do some laundry and be able to actually cook (if we wanted).. Nauvoo had some yummy restaurant options. Loved the proximity to Historic Nauvoo and downtown. Property was clean and host was accessible with questions. Wifi was great. And property had air conditioning which is appreciated in the Nauvoo summer. Would definitely recommend staying at this property.
This was a really nice home to stay in - close to Historic Nauvoo, updated and clean bathrooms, comfortable beds, cool AC for the summer. We would definitely stay there again!
Great stay in Nauvoo at the Historic Rufus Abbott Manor
We wanted to have the authentic 1800's feel while we were staying in Nauvoo and this home does the trick! It was decorated so nicely in that era. My sister and I each had our own bedrooms upstairs so luckily it wasn't awkward for her to come into my bedroom to use the bathroom (the upstairs bathroom is in the Joseph & Emma room). We stayed 6 nights and made dinner several evenings in the home--they had everything we needed. The view out the dining room into the open field was lovely. We loved our stay!
We loved our stay in the Abbott home, it provided our family with a unique opportunity to stay in a home that was built at the same time the Saints were in Nauvoo. The home is even decorated to the extent possible in a way that honors that history. It was also special for us to learn at the visitor's center that my 2nd Great Grandfather and his parents lived two short residential blocks away on the corner of Ripley and Warsaw. We would definitely stay there again.
What a wonderful time we had in such a beautiful home that has survived for so long! The hosts of this home go above and beyond to make the stay even more enjoyable! The Rufus Abbott will be a return to location!
I was in town for a singles conference and had the privilege of staying at Rufus Abbott Manor for the second year in a row. The home is beautiful and harkens back to a time oft forgotten. We had a wonderful weekend filled with the spirit, friendship, and uplifting messages. The host provided some homemade cookies from a family recipe that made the stay extra special.
I was a little concerned with it being a historic home that we would just feel stressed out about not breaking anything and it would be uncomfortable, but really it was very comfortable and welcoming even with little kids. We did watch them closely, and it was good we had plans outside of the home most of the time, but the home has a really nice feel to it and a sweet spirit so it wasnât uptight or anything.
The property was exactly as advertised and perfect for a getting in the Nauvoo spirit. We made Thanksgiving dinner in this kitchen and celebrated a holiday we will never forget.
