Come and enjoy the charm of a historic home when staying in this second floor apartment on the main entrance into Nauvoo. With a private keyless entry and parking, you will have the ease of coming and going. You can enjoy a walk to all the main street shops and nearby restaurants. Its a short drive to several state parks and historic sites. We are pet friendly! We love for you to be able to bring your pet on vacation. **If you have allergies to pet dander you should book elsewhere.
I read the reviews of others and here's my experience. I did not have any bad smells and my son (who is allergic to cats) did not have any allergy issues. It is obviously an older property, so it's not a modern, freshly painted environment. Things are obviously used, but the renters have done a good job making the space usable and feel "homey". I am pretty easy to please, not a diva so the little grandma type accents I looked at as sweet and quaint. We loved that the dollar general was right behind the house, and we could walk over to Casey's and buy a drink! I'd stay there again, it was comfortable for us and I was grateful to have somewhere to stay, so thank you!
Check in was easy, location was great, and when we needed sheets and a wasp problem taken care of, communication with the host was prompt. Smelled of cats, but otherwise it worked out pretty well for our family.
The exterior stairs are narrow and there is barely room to open the door on the landing. There are more stairs on the interior where it smells of cat box. The bunk bed is not comfortable for adult bodies. We did not even try the hide a bed. I stayed but my friends went elsewhere and got a hotel room after the first night. It is clean. For me alone without being able to share the cost it was a bit more than I would have spent. Probably fine for someone with young children.
The location of this place is great for the Nauvoo pageant. Check in process was easy. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware. I wanted to give it a great review but we killed at least 20 spiders during our 3-day stay and every corner had cobwebs. The smell in the place was terrible so we bought some Febreeze and that helped a little. Overall it was quite dirty and we left a day before our stay was over.
The location was great within only a few minutes of historic Nauvoo. It was great to have kitchen amenities and it slept all 6 my family members, although the second "bedroom" was extremely small and my teenage boy who probably weighs around 100 pounds didn't feel like the bunkbed was strong enough to sleep him on the top. Honestly, everything was fine except the smell. It smells very strongly of cats and made the whole property feel less than clean and made it very hard to relax and enjoy our stay.
The smell of cat urine was overwhelming and we had to cancel our second night since we couldn't bear it anymore. Grateful the host refunded night 2. Had it not been for the smell we would have enjoyed our stay. Great location, clean (except for the smell), and quaint style that reflects the area. Host was responsive and allowed us to check in early due to our unexpected early arrival. I missed some of the other reviews about the smell and just went off of the reviews of 8.4 out of 10. Wished I had looked closer. If you don't mind the smell of cat urine, it should be a nice stay.
This is a great space and a perfect location. I cant really imagine finding anything better for the price and it was exactly what we needed. The house is old, and I believe that is part of what contributes to the smell, but there's also some kind of animal smell. I honestly wonder if it isn't bats? The primary smell seemed to be coming from the entry area and when we closed of the door at the top of the stairs it made it much better. Overall though, this is a great place. We have animals at home and live on a hobby farm, the smell wasnt that bad and for the price and location I will definitely look to stay here again!
This is a very old property. Of course for the money I did expect this. Flight and a half of stairs up to rooms. Not a real two bedroom-a curtain separates bunk beds from living area. We thought there were two queens plus bunk beds (says 6 people). Under bed was dirty. Smelled and problems opening up windows when it got stuffy, warm. Cheap option for Nauvoo but for a family on the cheap. Fairies around were cute. Kitchen was clean. Had games.
Do not book if you have animal allergies. My daughter became very ill as soon as we arrived at the property. The host was very responsive and worked with us on a refund and finding another place to stay.
We loved staying there , my kids begged to come back again . My only issue were the sheets and pillow cases on the master didnât smell clean so I had a hard time sleeping . Otherwise it was a place I would return to again .
Our stay in Nauvoo was absolutely wonderful, thanks to Rebecca and her exceptional apartment. Rebecca was incredibly informative and proactive in her communications before our stay, making everything seamless and stress-free. The apartment itself was immaculate and exceeded our expectations in every way. It had everything we needed, which truly made our time in Nauvoo easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend staying hereâRebecca has created a fantastic experience for her guests!
The house was perfectly located within walking distance to stores and downtown. I was sufficient in size. Unfortunately it smelled like cat urine and kitty litter. When we wanted to buy some form of air freshener, there was a note stating that they were not allowed to be used in the house?! . The shower water never got hot enough. It stayed just above the warm temp. The wood stairs leading up to the house were not lit and so it was dangerous to walk up and down when they were wet and slippery.
Good Location, Clean and Comfortable..but the SMELL
Pros: The place was very clean and comfortable for our stay. The location was excellent. The hostess was kind and was willing to make our stay more comfortable. Cons: The smell of pets was REALLY BAD. The odor was overwhelming. It took some time before we got used to it, but it hit us every time we came back there.
