On the River in beautiful Bucks County-near large wedding venues &historic sites
property video: https://youtu.be/xpEEqj6iSmA
Built into the banks of the Delaware River and overlooking the widest part of the river in Bucks County this hidden oasis is less than two miles off Rt. 95 and less than a mile from the Penn Ryn or Glen Foerd wedding venues. For young families we are fifteen minutes to Sesame Place and for History buffs we are fifteen minutes to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall; 15 minutes to William Penn's Home, 30 minutes to Washington's Crossing, 35 minutes to Valley Forge. If you want to see the arts New Hope is 35 minutes and if you want to stray further afield New York City is an hour by car or train. The property is easily accessible by car (less than 2 miles off Rt 95) or train (3 minute Uber from the station) or boat (tie up to the modern and completely renovated dock and walk up the steps to your river front home). And if you do not want to go site-seeing just relax on the river in an indolent fashion. Perfect for a couple on a get away, two couples or a young family (the bunk beds are always a favorite for the youngest set). Make a luxurious breakfast and sip your coffee as you sit in your dining room perched over the river with glorious vistas up and down the river. Or just step onto the porch if you want to eat outside. You may watch the Eagles living a few hundred feet down the river fishing for their breakfast or the Peregrine Falcons living just along the river to the north doing the same. At night just sit by the fire and enjoy a book or a game and a nice glass of wine. Whether you want to get away from the world or travel to Philadelphia to see all of the historical sites this is your escape or your headquarters. Enjoy either way or come back and enjoy both ways.
This property is in an incredible spot and the hosts are really great. It is however truly under construction and needs a few things. The good: The beds are comfortable, the view is beautiful, the AC works, it's clean and safe and situated among lovely houses. The tricky: it's in quite a state.
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Photos are misleading - wish people were honest
There were things I loved about this house but they were completely outweighed by the downsides. First, we were never told in advance that the place was under renovations. There was a note when we got there making it seem like this was a new thing, but when you looked at the exterior, you could tell that this had been going on for quite some time. There was no queen sized bed. There was a sofa bed. I made a point of specifically asking when I realized that the photos were showing the same picture for this supposed third bedroom. It did not exist. It was a room with a couch and a coffee table we were never told in advanced that there was no laundry as had been put in the advertisement. Consequently, we did not pack enough clothing for our six day stay thinking that we could reduce the amount of luggage that we had to bring and just do a wash. There was an infestation of fruit flies. On the second morning of our vacation, we were awoken by the sound of somebody weed whacking right outside the window, which brings me to the fact that they were no shades. Nothing, no way to give yourself any privacy from the outside. As the pictures will show, the deck was falling down to the point of dangerousness and there was nothing blocking it. My 10-year-old granddaughters went out there when we first arrived and they were the ones to come back and tell us about how bad it was I cannot overstate much I had been looking forward to this stay & how devastatingly disappointed we are.
We had a wonderful stay at Tom and Sharonâs River House while in town for a family wedding. The drive was convenient to do all the Philadelphia sightseeing, and it was only a mile away from the wedding venue, which was the initial draw, but not the reason why this property stands out in our minds. I wish we had more time just to stay at the house and relax taking in the beautiful sights of the river. The living room is the reading space and we tried to wake up early just to relax and read in the chairs looking out to the river. The dining room, on the lower level along with the kitchen, was the perfect space to relax, share meals, and play board games. We enjoyed the evening that we spent out on the deck and the dock, skipping rocks on the river, and seeing all the lightening bugs at night. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had the supplies necessary to cook meals, although we did a lot of takeout, and the bathrooms were recently renovated providing a nice shower. We were pleased with the recommendations for breakfast and pizza, and we also enjoyed the brewery just up the road, if that is your thing. Sharon was a stellar host and lovely to talk to. We loved hearing their vision for the property. She was very gracious and helpful taking care of our laundry while the on-site facilities were being renovated, and she was quick to respond to texts. All in all, we would happily return in the future if we were to travel to the area.
Tom and Sharon were very friendly and communicated with us throughout this process. The view is therapeutic, which was something my family and I really needed. We look forward to booking here again soon. Thank you so much Tom and Sharon. Hopefully, weâll be speaking soon. Wishing you both the best of luck. Bryan and Tammy
The view here is fantastic. It was 100 while we were there so we did our river watching from inside, so I canât say much about the deck but you have 2 inside levels to pick from if you want to watch the river. Both bathrooms have been recently updated and are very nice. The washer and dryer were out of service when we were there but Tom definitely made it right with us. Such a beautiful location, and we all enjoyed watching the river.
The view of the Delaware River is wonderful from both the upper & lower level of the house. Both bathrooms were recently renovated and very nice. There are some serious safety concerns regarding the outdoor deck and walkway. The wooden railing and floorboards of the deck were severely deteriorated and we didnât feel it was safe to use. The walkway pavers were loose and uneven so we felt more comfortable walking through the grass. This home has a lot of potential and hopefully improvements will be made in the near future.
We stayed at Tom and Sharonâs river house for a bachelorette trip and loved the views and quaint house. We commented many times that we felt like we were on a river cruise! Tom was very quick to respond and accommodating leading up to our trip, but we were slightly confused by the check in process as we received a code for the door but also instructions telling us to come to the front porch to get a key and instructions of how to get to the property. We knocked on what we presumed to be the right house and did not receive and answer and then attempted to contact both numbers listed with the property but did not receive an answer. We ended up figuring out how to get to the property and ended up hearing back from Tom about 15 minutes later.
This house is perfect. Iâm originally fromPhiladelphia, but live in the Pittsburgh area now and the location for the house is perfect for visiting center city or getting away from the city life. Will definitely be inquiring about staying here next year as well.
Beautiful riverside location, close to Broken Goblet
Beautiful river views from the dining room and sitting room. Clean place, comfy beds, close to our destination. Great stay overall. A couple in my group had a hard time finding the right driveway, but the goat was very quick to respond, helpful and friendly. Will look to book again for this event next year. Thanks.
The River house was such a beautiful setting! Made you feel you were very secluded yet so close to everything. Tom and Sharon were super hosts! Quick to respond and very caring of their guests. Our grandchildren loved being able to run around and skip rocks on the water. Would love to read the history of the house and the surroundings!
It was a lovely time at this location. The view of the river was breathtaking. The place had a lovely and fitting aesthetic. If I'm ever in the area, I hope to stay again!
I spent one night at this lovely home on the river with my husband, and wow, the views!! We visited in January, so much of the river was frozen, and it was fascinating watching the ice break up and flow. Everything was clean and comfortable. We hope to come again with our daughters!
The property was set up very nice for a small group. The neighborhood was peaceful. The property was spacious and had a nice outdoor sitting area to enjoy the grounds around it. I would recommend stopping at the Broken Goblet Brewery just right down the road. Close to restaurants and easy to get to Philli.
My brothers and I took my 85 yr old mother for a vacation to Pennsylvania to "find her roots" this month and we spent 3 days at Tom's property on the river. We enjoyed the accomodations and of course the scenery. Driving through the beautiful autumn leaves was wonderful as well! We definitely recommend this property!
By the way, our master bed had a biomat ontop of the mattress on the 1st night. It made the bed very hard. We let Tom know that it was too hard and he immediately removed it. No problems after that!!
Tom and Sharonâs place was perfect for attending a wedding in the area. The place is older but was pretty clean. The property is cool and view of the river is relaxing. I appreciated the safety gate for the steps because we have small children. I would recommend they add some more drinking glasses and new pans.
My husband and I were looking for a special place to have a small "nano-wedding" ceremony and sign our self-unionizing marriage license. This place "wow'ed" me from the moment I saw it on the Vrbo app and kept "wow'ing" me throughout our visit. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. The location is gorgeous and as pictured. We plan to be back again to celebrate anniversaries!
The River House was in a beautiful location. Our family was attending a wedding in the area. We had plenty of room both inside and outside the house to be comfortable for a long weeknd! Tom and Sharon were very gracious hosts! We wish we had more free time to hear more of the history surrounding the property! Our family would definitely consider visiting the River House in the future!
