Abalone Bay provides you and up to 5 guests a front-row seat to orange sherbet sunsets and star-filled inky skies! As you gaze from windows that frame deer in the foreground, whales on the horizon you're sure to rekindle your relationship with nature and loved ones in this uniquely remodeled home by famed architect, Obie Bowman, FAIA.

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay, with its curated amenities and stunning decor, is perfect for a romantic getaway, girl's weekend, gentleman's holiday, or relaxing retreat for the family. Ample workspace and strong WiFi make it a great remote work location as well. Anglers and divers are also welcomed!

As your direct concierge and host we provide you personalized, detailed attention and assistance to assure you and your guests have the experience of a lifetime. Our digital guidebook, free and readily available for download on all your electronic devices, informs you and guests about the house, and its amenities. Expert, in-depth insiders' information provides insight to our community, dining recommendations, special events and activities to enjoy, plus personalized tips for a fun-filled, stress free vacation.

Potential for Noise:
We are also thrilled to be part of a growing community! There's a new home blossoming next door, with construction underway. The contractor anticipates work will be done by late December 2024. We've taken measures to ensure your peaceful stay, yet there might be some daytime activity. Construction crew may arrive as early as 7:30 AM with work beginning at 8 AM and quit at 4:00 PM. If you plan on adventuring during the day this won't be a big deal. There's definitely plenty to explore locally. Your understanding and excitement for the local development are much appreciated!

No Air Conditioning
There is no central air conditioning. Ventilation fans provide added circulation for Mother Nature's sea breezes that blow through screened windows.

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay is surrounded by meadows and woods. As such, Guest may encounter various insects and wildlife traditionally found in a natural environment. As heat and drought increases you may find ants and/or Jerusalem cricket (potato bug) seeking shelter in the house. Owner employs year-round monthly pest control services and provides insecticide for your use. Guests are advised to keep the home clear of crumbs and food.
Guests are also advised to feed dogs inside and keep doors closed to avoid raccoons from entering.

LEGAL RENTAL AGREEMENT: Guests are charged full amount at booking. A copy of Guest's Legal Photo ID (Driver's License or Passport) collected upon submission of our booking contract is required to verify your identity for safety, security reasons and assure you meet Sonoma County regulations of age and authenticity of your being the responsible agent booking our home. Guests are required to sign legal rental agreement within 3 days of booking. Failing that owner reserves right to cancel the booking. Guests with dogs must pick up dog excrement or be fined $100. Of special note in our legal agreement: While every attempt will be made to ensure that all advertised equipment and appliances are in working order at the commencement of Guest's stay, no reduction of rent, rebate, or refund will be issued for a mechanical failure of heater, dishwasher, washer, dryer, TV, refrigerator or other appliances.

SECURITY DEPOSIT: A security deposit of $500 is required to be deposited with the Owner. It will be collected separately prior to your arrival or at check-in. Guests are expected to maintain home and courtyard in good, operable, and generally clean condition. Guests' dog's excrement must be picked up or a $100 fine will be charged to lead guest. Guest is responsible for any damages or breakage to the Unit by anyone and/or pets allowed to enter the Unit during the rental period. Owner may elect to either deduct any damage from the Security Deposit or charge the credit card on file of the Lead Renter for any damage or breakage or excessive cleaning costs caused by Guest and/or party.

SECURITY CAMERAS/NOISE MONITORING: This home is equipped with 2 surveillance cameras located outside the front and back of the home to monitor the perimeter of the property. The owner meters the level of noise inside and outside the property and will advise the guest if the noise level exceeds 50dB. By accepting a reservation, you acknowledge and agree to possible recording at the front and back entrances of the house.

TSRA FACILITIES OUT OF OUR CONTROL: Due to high demand and limited availability of facilities requiring reservations for lap swim and Tennis/Pickleball as managed by TSRA, we cannot guarantee that all guests will have access to the pools and courts. Please note that no refund(s) will be provided in relation to the TSRA facilities.

PROPERTY ACCESS DETAILS: Guest's check-in, checkout, and full property access details are sent at time of booking via our contract, digital guidebook and reminders sent periodically through and including day of check-in. Information is sent via email, SMS and are included in our guidebook with video and written description. Guests are are informed door code is live at 4PM, on contracted time of check in. Code to door expires at 11AM on day of Check-out as per contract. Owner is available by phone if further instruction or support is needed.

What a comfortable home! Everything one needs to feel at home. Extremely well equipped and easy. Great location near seal hangout and we were visited by fox and deer. Walk right out to the bluff trail. Husband and his brother loved the ping pong table on rainy days.

Beautiful property with expansive, excellent views. The home is very well laid out with plenty of room for all of us. The furnishings are both comfortable and modern. The patio and hot tub area is very nicely landscaped and immaculate. Our little beagle Daisy also enjoyed the views and walks. It was perfect even with some rain.

Great house and terrific location. Had our dogs with us and very easy to have them there. There’s a great dog park to give them a lot of running. House was equipped with everything you need and more. perfect ocean stay

The house is immaculate, stocked with everything you could possibly need, overlooking the ocean. Completely stocked kitchen with fancy gadgets, hot hot tub, comfortable furniture/beds, fabulous master shower. Steps from a bluff side trail that goes for miles and miles of scenic coastline. Stay and I'm sure you'll be back, as will we!

Another fun stay at Abalone Bay

Abalone Bay has become our favorite place to stay in Sea Ranch. To start with, it allows dogs and has a fenced in area for them to play. Our dog loves coming back. Beyond being a great place for dog lovers, it is located right on the bluff trail, has great views of the ocean for whale watching, and has a very well equipped kitchen with just about anything you need while staying there. Donna, the owner, provides a professionally done guide book that suggests where to eat, hike, fish, go for entertainment, and answers questions regarding operating anything in the house. One of the most important things to us is that although it allows dogs, the home is very clean with no dog smells.

Wonderful property, wonderful hosts

This house is beautiful, the property is as well. Right on the coast, exactly as pictured. It’s about a 40-60 minute lovely walk to the lodge for coffee and snacks- the trail along the water at Sea Ranch is one of the best parts! Donna, the host, was extremely responsive and has been wonderful - we left something important at the house and she helped locate it and get it back to us. Will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful Sea Ranch property

Our four-night stay was a superb, relaxing getaway at a five-star property. Everything was top-of-the-line, from bedding and furniture to appliances and audio-visual equipment. We even played some ping-pong! Donna was wonderfully communicative and accommodating, and the downloadable guide book was detailed to a fault, yet easy to search. Highly recommend!

Abalone Bay is the single best place for us at Sea Ranch, and we've sampled many!

There is nothing that Donna hasn't thought of AND provided at Abalone Bay. Staying here for the weekend with our family and our dogs was as comfortable as it would be if this were our own vacation home. Not kidding, the kitchen is better equipped than our kitchen at home; the decor is perfect for Sea Ranch, the location is beautiful, and every thing we needed for our weekend was here for us when we arrived. We have stayed at more than a few places in Sea Ranch, and this is the one we will use exclusively from now on. Really, really nice. And Donna was gracious and available for anything we needed (nothing!), and her instructions and online guide for Abalone Bay are complete and extremely useful. Overall grade: A

Beautiful!

The property was everything that was promised. From the moment we walked in to see the stunning coastal sunset, we were amazed by the beauty of not only the view but also the home’s decor, architecture and amenities. No detail was missed. Our host Donna went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional and her communication was always clear and friendly. Even though it rained a lot the first day, we found puzzles and games galore to enjoy our time together. As we explored the sights around Sea Ranch, we especially loved visiting the historic Lodge and unique Chapel, eating at Vue Kitchen, shopping in Gualala, and hiking down to Bowling Ball Beach. Wow! So much beauty to be found in Sea Ranch. This Abalone Bay Home will forever be a favorite vacation spot and place to stay!

Perfect Getaway

The house is in a fantastic location steps away from the bluff trail and only a few minute walk to see the seals or explore the tidepools. Beautiful house, incredible views, and a very comfortable stay. Kitchen was well equipped with anything we could need to cook our meals for the week. Exceeded expectations and would recommend.

This home is beautifully decorated and perfectly equipped. It was a pleasure to stay there and enjoy the surrounding beauty...inside and out!! After this rainy winter, the blooming yellow Lupine adds to the coastal scenery.

My husband, Jorge and I have always had a love affair with the Sonoma Coast, and most especially with The Sea Ranch. Just before we made up our mind to purchase our home Jorge went diving in the waters below. There he harvested his first 10" abalone! That cinched the deal and gave rise to our naming our new home "SeaRanchAbaloneBay.... " for the cove that graciously gave up the yummy mollusk. Unfortunately, harvesting abalone is no longer possible, but spearfishing and fishing off the bluff remain a favorite activity for Jorge and me, and our many guests. We'll be happy to share some of our insider tips with you too!

We give back to our community globally and locally.
We have always believed in the importance of family, friends, and giving back to our community. No matter where we have lived over the years we have always been active in the community we call home. That connection shows that we are all linked no matter where on the globe we or our guests may be at any moment.

In these times of climate change with its global warming, it becomes even more important that Abalone Bay recommits itself to the original covenant of The Sea Ranch. Further, we also declare a climate emergency. Based on the science before us, we promise actionable steps to stop the climate emergency we now face. For that reason, we have joined Tourism Declares. This initiative supports tourism businesses, organizations, and individuals that declare a climate emergency and take purposeful action to reduce their carbon emissions.

We also act locally as a member of the Sea Ranch/Mendonoma Community. A portion of our proceeds of your guest rental is given directly back to the people of "Mendonoma." We also invite our guests to join us in this endeavor. Local non-profits we support include: Coastal Seniors, Action Network, Redwood Coast Humane Society, Redwood Empire Food Bank.

Of all the places in the world we thought we'd settle in of course it had to be an oceanfront property in The Sea Ranch! We love fishing and abalone diving (which is currently closed).

Expanded windows in the oceanfront home allow you views of deer, whales, and sunsets. Recently updated decor provides you with a relaxing and family-friendly home to enjoy your vacation. Our garage with an EV outlet protects your car with salt-free parking on the coast.

Guests have private access to the whole house, private courtyard, one garage space, and common places.
Minimum night stay- 2 nights
Summer (Jun1-August 31)- minimum stay is 5 nights

Communication with guests include:
*Our more in-depth legal rental agreement that guest is required to sign to complete booking. Failing that owner reserves right to cancel the booking.
* A copy of Guest's Legal Photo ID (Driver's License or Passport) collected upon submission of our booking contract
*Email, SMS, phone
* Expansive, fully detailed Digital Sea Ranch Abalone Bay - Welcome Guidebook
* Welcoming guests personally with prior agreement and arrangement
* Guest's check-in, checkout, and full property access details are sent at time of booking via our contract, digital guidebook and reminders sent periodically through and including day of check-in. Information is sent via email, SMS and are included in our guidebook with video and written description. Guests are are informed door code is live at 4PM, on contracted time of check in. Code to door expires at 11AM on day of Check-out as per contract. Owner is available by phone if further instruction or support is needed.
