Smith Mountain Lake Home with stunning views with wet cove
The house has had a major renovation in 2018 to accommodate many, up to 16 people. The home sits on a large peninsula in a very big cove with a marina below.(Lumpkins) It has a beautiful view of Smith Mountain right off the deck, patio and dock. It is in a prime location. The home is a wonderful place for large-gatherings for summer vacations, in the fall for the beautiful leaves and the holidays. It can accommodate a few families, a large family, a large group of friends and has been rented for graduations, work retreats, marriages, proposals and many different celebrations. Smith Mountain Lake, nicknamed the "Jewel of the Blue Ridge", for its topaz water and emerald shores, has more than 580 miles of shoreline. It has become one of the most popular recreational lakes in Virginia, and a hub for boaters, wakeboarders, water skiers, kayakers, and fishing.
My family and I enjoyed five nights at this beautiful home. The house is spacious and well appointed and the views of the lake are amazing. There were also plenty of sheets, towels and hand soap, which made our stay more comfortable.
Fabulous week on the water and relaxing after dinner with breathtaking sunsets! Our first SML experience âŠweâll definitely be back! Thanks for the memories!!!
Sophisticated and clean holiday retreat with a great lake view.
Colorful fall view of smith mountain on one side from the balcony . We were 3 families - adults and kids.. we enjoyed this property very much. One of the best property we have stayed in united states.
We so enjoyed staying at this gorgeous property for a friends reunion! The house has all the amenities, a gorgeous view and absolutely stunning decor. The owner was wonderful to work with and very responsive. Cannot recommended enough!
This house was incredible. Good for entertaining with plenty of room for everyone. Great views from the deck with easy access to a marina just down the cove. Susanne was super communicative and responsive. I would definitely recommend for a family or large group vacation.
This beautiful lake home was a fantastic location for a weekend retreat! The view is gorgeous, the beds were amazing-soft and comfy, and the kitchen was an incredible place to gather, socialize and cook together.
The owner was super responsive to any questions or needs we had. We will be back!
It was a very Blessed week. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We Rented Pontoon boat, 4- Jet skiâs, tubing for some the first time doing all this. The house was perfect. The kitchen, excellent for our group. Would rent this again. Susanne was so helpful with questions. Ty
This home far exceeded our expectations! It was unanimous that this home was by far the best venue we've ever had for our 9 year golf tournament.
Thank you, Susanne for allowing us to use this beautiful home. You provided us everything we needed, and your prompt communications were appreciated. Everything about the home was amazing, and the cleanliness, quality and abundance of amenities were unsurpassed!
Look forward to coming back again in the near future.
Would definitely recommend this house for a large group!!
Beautiful house at a great location on the lake. Lots of room for everyone, bathroom and kitchens are beautiful. Beds super comfortable too. My only concern would be the stocking of the kitchen. There was not enough silverware for a party of 14 and no large stockpots to use for a large group and could not find a blender. But other than that it was fantastic!!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It was a good fit for our party as we required a large number of bedrooms. Just a few suggestions: 1) We did not find a good selection of serving bowls but made do with what was there. Some more dinner forks would also be good. 2) We had a rental boat and think the dock would be better if the edges were padded in some way. Docking on the side with the metal ladder is also difficult due to the presence of the ladder.
Minor complaints: 1) The housekeeper was still at work when we arrived at check in time. We realize she was short handed that day but it was inconvenient for us. 2) One bed was not made up; however, it was not needed by our party so not a huge issue.
Location - Perfect lake location with a dock on a quiet cove. The actual neighborhood getting there isn't stellar, but you spend your time out back where it's pretty private! Safe for kids to swim about, paddle board, etc...
Indoor space - enormous kitchen area and island - we served dinner for TWELVE at the counter each night! High end appliances. A bar upstairs and downstairs with ice machines, beverage fridges, etc... More TVs than we knew what to do with... Comfortable beds throughout. Well appointed bathrooms. There is a Keurig - bring pods! Several games, as well as some life vests and water toys available.
Outdoor space - great deck and patio, really well landscaped, easy walk down to the dock where we spent all day fishing, paddle boarding, swimming and playing. There's a screened porch with fans as well - took a few conference calls there!
Communication with host - Suzanne is so nice and very responsive! There were a few items we brought up right away - damage to floors and windows that we wanted to be sure she knew wasn't from us, inadequate silverwear for such a large house. All repairs and replenishments already under way from what I understand, and certainly nothing that detracted from our stay (all the kinds of things that happen to a rental property, unfortunately). I would strongly suggest shades in the owner's suite, or that renters bring a sleep mask if you want to sleep in! All in all, it's a beautiful house that's been in the family that Suzanne wants to be perfect for her renters.
We had a fantastic time, and know future renters will as well.
We had a great new year's celebration this year! The house was clean and spacious. Susanne, the property manager, was extremely helpful and communicated with us throughout the stay. TV's in every room, multiple bars, spacious kitchen, large deck and stunning views. Highly recommend staying here.
We had a great time - the cove was peaceful and the house was beautiful. The only problem we had was the wifi was a bit intermittent (some of the TVs didn't get signal and people who tried to do work or school had issues). Otherwise - it was great!
My family & friends loved this house for a fun getaway birthday weekend! There was plenty of room / space for 11 people and the views were stunning. Susanne was super easy to communicate with while we were on the property. Would definitely stay here again!
We completely enjoyed our stay at this great lakefront home. We love to cook and the gourmet kitchen was perfect for our needs. The living areas was very comfortable and the outdoor spaces were excellent including an expansive upper deck and paved patio on the lower level with a fire pit and a screened-in porch. The bedrooms were all well-appointed. Plenty of towels and linens provided for everyone and the owner was very responsive to our questions. Would highly recommend this property to groups big and small.
Hi Iâve been on Smith Mountain Lake since I was a toddler. Iâm not sure if Iâm prejudiced but I love this lake more than any other lake Iâve ever visited.
This lot has been in our family since 1979. . It once had a trailer on it when we bought it. In 1988, my father took the trailer away and built this house. He passed away several years ago and left the house to me and my sister. We then went in and gutted it and remodeled the whole home.
It has the most beautiful views and the space is phenomenal for large families, multiple families and/or couples. Lots of common spaces for everyone. You never feel on top of each other even with 12-15 people
