"Summersalt" is the perfect backdrop for your family's vacation memories! The location in relation to the beach is this home's best amenity! Guests will find themselves just steps to the sand on the private beaches of Southern Shores. Only a short drive to the quaint town of Duck, your and your family can enjoy a day full of shopping or an evening of dining. This home is ideal for families looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the perfect spot to recharge and relax on some of the most pristine, sandy white beaches that the Outer Banks has to offer. Whether it's covered or uncovered decks you desire, guests are able to take in the unmistakable smell of salt air. Complete with an ocean-facing hot tub, these porches can be used no matter the season. Summersalt is located in the heart of Southern Shores. When headed out for a beach day, there are no busy main roads to cross, making carrying beach gear and kids to the beach a breeze! Despite being off of the main road (Hwy 12), Summersalt is centrally located in a way that makes a day of shopping and sightseeing easy to plan. If you find yourself needing a break from the sun & the sand, just a quick thirty-minute drive south and you will find yourself immersed in the rich Outer Banks History at the Wright Brothers Memorial. Continuing further south, you will find the expansive Manteo Aquarium complete with indoor and outdoor exhibits featuring our beloved Sea Turtle rehabilitation center and spotlighting different species of our native wildlife. For the fisherman in your party, head down to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. At the end of a long day of fishing, the Captain tosses their "catch of the day" on the dock. Onlookers only have a few moments to admire the bounty of the fishing trip before the fish are whisked away only to be served later that day in our local seafood restaurants. If adventure and a change of scenery is what you are seeking, just head north through Corolla and into Carova. Whether it is a professional guided horse tour or maybe you decide to take your own vehicle (not suggested unless your vehicle is 4x4), seeing the Wild Horses never gets old. With no paved roads and tons of space to explore, make sure Carova and the Wild Horses make it to the list of things to do while on the Outer Banks.

With a central location (for shopping & dining), an ocean-facing hot tub, tons of decks, and close proximity to the ocean, Summersalt makes it to the top of the list.

Loved this house! The open interior, large covered deck and hot tub were a big hit. And just a 2 minute walk to the beach was a plus! we'll be back!

Beds and furniture were comfortable. Kitchen was very well stocked with plenty of dishes, cookware, and utensils. Most importantly everything was very clean.

Summer salt is a lovely property. Although it states ocean views and does not, the house was more than adequately stocked. Full kitchen and anything you could need. Quiet area but close to restaurants. Basic cable would be a plus.

First OBX Vacation in 25 Years

We were very excited for this vacation. And Summersalt House did not disappoint! Beautiful home, the perfect size for us. Everything was immaculate. We ordered the linen package which made things so much easier. Just a short walk from the beach, close to shops, restaurants, etc. The hot tub was wonderful, and there is a porch swing in the front where I loved to drink my coffee and read in the morning. Really a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this home!

Plusses but big minuses.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall the negatives of our stay ought weighed the positives. It felt like there were preventable issues with this property that took our stay from wonderful to poor. When we arrived the counters were clean and rugs vacuumed but we also found dirty underware under a bed. There was a bug issue (roaches observed on the walls and counter in the kitchen.) You could hear the skittering of the bugs in the walls at night, even after someone came to spray. We observed bug traps over the kitchen cabinets that would indicate the bug infestation is a known issue. The signage in the home and the information provided in the app and via email was not accurate/inconsistent for things like Wifi and trash etc.The hot tub cleaner showed up at 8am on check out day. Could that not wait until we were out at 10? My daughter got a splinter from touching the wall in her room. (Bedroom adjacent to the hot tub)The security gates at the deck stairs did not latch.I am unsure if you were supposed to provide things like hand soap and trash bags but they were not present/enough for our stay. (i.e. No hand soap in a bathroom and 2 bags for the stay.)As a positive, your staff was very responsive and professional.I would likely avoid renting a property managed by your rental company again given our experience.

Great 4 Day Trip to OBX

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in Summersalt for a long, 4-day weekend in July. The house was the perfect size for the 7 of us. It was clean, with a nice kitchen and family room area. We especially liked the nice large shaded porch and the hot tub. The house included 3 nice beach bikes and lots of beach chairs, boogie boards and beach umbrellas. It is a very short walk to the beach and convenient to grocery stores and restaurants.

Great Vacation

Reviewer Comments: From the photos you could tell that there had been some updates to this property but it's always tough to know for sure how nice a place is until you're there. We were very happy with the property, the owners made some nice updates while keeping the charm on an OBX cottage. The layout is great, 1 king bed on one side connected by a jack and jill bathroom to a twin room then a queen size bedroom on the other side connected by another jack and jill bathroom to another twin bedroom. My husband and I stayed in the King size bedroom and the mattress was very comfortable. My 2 children stayed in the twin rooms (1 in a pack and play and 1 in a bed) and we were pleasantly surprised that the rooms had blinds and curtains. This is always nice when the kids go to sleep before the sun goes down so the rooms can actually get dark. The patio and patio swing were wonderful as well as the hot tub. The hot tub was actually hot when we got there as well so we got to use it the first night instead of having to wait for it to heat up. We ate at the house most of the week and found it equipped to handle cooking basic meals. The location of the house is great, the street is very private so the beach is also less crowded than other areas. It was an easy walk across the street to the beach for us, including my 4 year old and even my 16 month old could walk it. We did go up to Duck a couple of times and it was only a 10 minute drive. We used the beach cart and boogie boards in the storage unit which was nice to not have to bring or rent those items. The enclosed outside shower was wonderful to rinse off the sand before going into the house. All and all we were very happy with this house and would definitely stay here again.
