This weekend we stayed at The Hughes house because we needed to be in the area for my mom's funeral. This was our first VRBO. The host family was very quick to answer any questions or deal with any situations needed. We basically only slept in the home. However, it was much more comforting to come home to this house than it would have been to split our family of 8 into two hotel rooms
The beds we very comfortable. We appreciate appreciated a safe and comfortable place to come back to during this difficult time.
From the moment we arrived this property exceeded our expectations. This historic home have been beautifully appointed and renovated while still maintaining its charm. Thank you to Jeff for being such a responsive and helpful host.
My wife and I went to Amarillo from Waco to move her daughter and kids. We both loved this house! The house is a wonderful old historic Amarillo home that the owners have carefully enhanced for their guests. Beautifully decorated with all the amenities you need! AND some of the coolest coffee table books of all time!
We enjoyed the house very much. It is comfortable and beautifully decorated. Lots of special touches, bathroom accessories and kitchen items. We would stay here again
I was short on time and needed a place for 8 to stay, Jeff was on top of communicating the specific sleeping arrangements and it is a well put together old house with original charm. Enjoyed the stay.
We had a fantastic stay at this house. Jeff was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. I felt so bad having to reach out for minor questions/issues during thanksgiving but he was so kind! The pictures donât do this house justice, itâs beautiful! There was more than enough space for everyone. There are two living rooms downstairs and a living room upstairs with the loft. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Minor downsides that didnât really affect our stay but may be considered by othersâŠwhen we checked in there was a layer of dust throughout the house. We easily wiped everything down but I did notify Jeff and he quickly responded and apologized, they hadnât had any renters in a while he didnât think to have the cleaning crew come in since their last clean. The kitchen was a bit smaller than what we needed but we made it work! As long as youâre not cooking a massive meal the space should be fine. There is no common area bathroom. You have to go into a bedroom to use a bathroom. The loft upstairs consist of a small living room area, bed area and bathroom. There are no doors upstairs other than the bathroom doors. Again, these were minor details for our family. We had a fantastic time and would definitely book again if we ever find ourselves back in Amarillo.
We have made Amarillo our home since 1998. This Hughes House holds a special place in our hearts and we have tried to convey that to those that stay at Hughes House through its furnishing and fine touches.
Hughes House is historic at nearly 100-years-old. It's a bit of the old, a bit of the new, and it's close to everything Amarillo. Being in midtown and near I-40 and I-27, everything is easy access whether you want to go to Amarillo's amazing downtown area, or to the more contemporary southwest area of Amarillo.
