The Sterling House On the river and close to downtown
The Sterling house This Riverview college built in 1928 nestled in historic Washington North Carolina. The house within an easy and safe walking distance from historic downtown . Yet it still has a ambience of quiet serenity with itâs 180 views of the Pamlico river .
Highly recommend this property and visiting Washington, NC! William was easy to communicate with, kind, and thoughtful. The home was very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the proximity to town and listening to the cicadas while the sun set over the Pamlico. It was a fairly quick drive to Goose Creek State Park. FYI- this section of the river and the nearby Haven's Park are saltwater fishing designated. If you fish from the park downtown (past the railroad bridge), then it is freshwater. 20 minutes away in Grimesland, there are public ponds managed by NC WRC that stock LMB @ GPS 35.5825, -77.1716.
We loved the location of the house and the relaxing outdoor seating area looking on the water. House had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Owner is great with communication! Highly recommend!
Beautiful back porch which we enjoyed both morning and evening. We were able to grill our fresh seafood. Our dogs loved the backyard to run and the back porch, as well. We were able to walk the neighborhood and take in the historic homes.
House is in a great location, easy walk into town, kitchen was well equipped and the view from the deck over the river was perfect. Plenty of room in the house.
Loved the house and especially the back porch overlooking the water. Everything was clean and well-stocked. Gracious host. Would love to stay again on return trips.
William was a great host. The house is super quiet and quaint. We loved that we could have the dogs with us and the yard is a great size to play ball with them and let them run around. The river and pond are perfect for fishing and downtown is walkable. Super cute restaurants on main street.
Went with my dog for a simple, quiet weekend getaway. The interior of the home was very clean, had everything i needed and more. The neighborhood is pretty and very walkable. Communication from William was just right. Teally enjoyed mt stay, i would go back.
The perfect location for sunrises, sunsets, walks to town. The historic neighborhood is charming and was decorated for Christmas while we were there. The house is so comfortable and our host was readily available for any questions we had.
We plan to return to see the area dressed up for spring.
We really enjoyed this home. It was peaceful, well equipped and quiet. The house was very clean and well maintained. The location is fabulous!! We could walk to downtown or walk the other way and visit the inner water outfitters. Close to restaurants and grocery store.
William the host was friendly and responsive. The house had great views of the Pamlico and was just far enough from the stores and restaurants to be quiet while still an easy walk to all the fun stuff. Great starting point for a run upriver or down river. We used the house as a base for some college visits, but if you arrive by boat, the house is an easy walk from the city dock for a couple of nights ashore!
The Sterling House was very comfortable, clean & quiet. Easy location to find, nicely located for access to the areaâs sights. We visited the area for a wedding over in Moorehead City, NC Aquarium on the coast.
The visit, the wedding, the people we met were some of the kindest of folks..
Nice to visit a small town with that small town feeling.
Great time, great place, canât wait to visit again.
We needed a get-away. We stayed here a couple years ago and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return. The host is wonderful! Linens are not only included, theyâre already on the beds! The house is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. We relaxed on the back deck, watched the river, the geese, and the very entertaining squirrels, LOL! Downtown is minutes away and has some top quality restaurants. We highly recommend Blu Farm to Table, Ribeyes Steakhouse, and the Water Street Cafe. The Sterling House is a perfect place to relax and unwind.
Cute and cozy historic home with remarkable river view
My daughter was celebrating her 40th birthday so her dad and I visited Washington for the first time and stayed at the Sterling House. It is in a perfectly pristine district within walkable distance to downtown. From its charming character, to the ease of check in and check out, to the amazing river view porch, The Sterling House and its host William are true gems. The pet friendly house provided our daughter and her husband the opportunity to bring their dog Kenji and she loved the fenced in backyard and the doggie bed and bowls. Parking was easy, as was any communication I needed to have with William. The Sterling House will continue to be my first choice when we return to Washington.
Lovely period home in heart of historical district. Host was most accommodating! He answered all our questions, and provided us with everything we needed to have a wonderful stay. The view of the Pamlico River from the porch was incredible! We look forward to staying at the Sterling House when we return to Washington.
