Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a great rental, affordable, with great location! The unit could use some updating in comparison to other units, but when you look past what it needs, it truly is a slice of heaven. Perfect view for the sunset, and whale watching in season. Nice, quiet, private complex, plenty of parking, all the nuts and bolts you need in a condo stay. I would stay there again, if it helps anyone on the fence about another location. Great Lanai space. You can jump in the ocean right off the property. Only slight diss on the property is you have to leave to get to a beach, where some complexes nearby had their own little beach areas. Unit came with chairs if you did decide to leave the property, which was nice.

Babymoon in Maui

My husband and I had an awesome stay at Hale Ono Loa. The condo had everything we needed and was in a great location, close to beaches and restaurants. We loved spending time on the balcony and enjoying the tropical views. Would definitely recommend this rental! A very memorable babymoon.

The rental had everything we needed. Comfy king bed , kitchen with all essentials, and private lanai to sit out and eat or just enjoy the amazing view. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a/c. Had to sleep with open doors and windows. Overall a great place and shopping, beaches and restaurants nearby.

The best condo complex on the coast

Hale Ono Loa was a dream. We LOVED staying here. The ocean views, the terrace to watch sunsets, the friendly neighbors, the stairway down to the ocean... Being just above Lahaina away from the resort corridor, but close enough if you wanted to go there. We can't express how much we enjoyed staying here. We will absolutely be back! Mahalo!

Beautiful View - Needs Updating

Let's start with the good: Big Lanai with a great view. Complex is quiet and very well maintained and you will most likely have the pool and some of the surrounding area to yourself. Not So Good: For the price paid, this unit needs some updating, Specifically, the sofa and chair in the Living Room needed reupholstery and the bathroom, aside from being tiny, is old. Because there is no A/C, the road noise from the road at night can be loud - keep in mind the bedroom window faces this direction. The Really Not So Good: I was lucky enough to stay mostly on a weekend so was not impacted but as others have mentioned there was construction in the unit below me (loud!) and some exterior painting going on as well. Had I been there during the week this would have seriously impacted my stay. I realize this is tricky for the owner to be aware of and mitigate for propective guests but it's worth mentioning anyway. Overall, nice place with good potential. A small remodel (there's that noise again!) is recommended.

Nicely decorated. The sun rise comes through the windows over the bed which affects sleeping, road noise from mopeds and garbage trucks in wee hours of morning irritating.

Only complaint, not even a hello-is-everything-ok phone call from concierge and when I called she had no activity info for Molikini cruise or for Burn'n Love/Elvis shiw, Unit had no broiler pan or even baking pan. To their credit I did not call to ask for one since we needed it right away and just made due with foil that was there, thank goodness.

Almost exactly as described!

The only less than perfect finding: the photo made it seem as if the view from the balcony was just of the ocean. In fact, the balcony looks out over the pool, the deck, the BBQ area, and a large building with a deck on top of it. Still a nice view, but definitely not what the pics showed. Last time we stayed in Lahaina, we were in the Kaleialoha, which was indeed right next to the ocean. Also, no washer/dryer in the unit. But still lovely.

Stunning Sunset Views from Lanai

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit we stayed in was #311 in Hale Ono Loa in January 2015. The unit was very clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. It was also well equipped, except it did not have beach gear usually provided with other units, such as beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel equipment, etc. We enjoyed the location, but have to give it 4 stars instead of 5 for lack of a swimming beach. There is no public swimming beach within walking distance, but we found some nice beaches just a few minutes drive away in Kapalua. It's a convenient location for visiting Lahaina, Kaanapali, Napili, and north. We stayed 10 days here and 10 days in Kihei. The Kihei beaches were more abundant, but the Honokowai area has more of a tropical, Hawaiian atmosphere, with more variety of things to do. We enjoyed whale watching from the Lanai and did a whale watching tour with Gemini from Kaanapali that was a highlight.

Everything worked well and the furnishings were in very good condition. The weather was above normal so we missed not having air conditioning during the afternoons. We noticed that the pool and pool area needed a good cleaning. It looked likeThe area hadn't been touched in weeks. The check-in was easy and the area had many restaurants. We would go back again.

It was my first time in Maui and I definitely will come back to Maui, maybe to other place but not for the Condo, just to stay in ither areas in Maui like Wailea for instance.The Hale Ono Loa was a good condo! according with the price and with an outsanding view!Maybe i recommend to install air conditioner in unit 311 it was be hot sometimes even in winter.

First trip to Maui in great ocean front condo!

We loved watching the whales from our deck in the mornings and seeing the sea turtles feeding right next to the property in the late afternoon. It was a great place to relax after our many island activities (snorkeling, whale watching, volcano tours, etc.)

Okay experience with a great view

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For the most part it was an okay experience. There were some items that made the experience not so great for us. For one, we had a garburator issue. The communication with the property manager wasn’t very clear and we had to stay around for them to fix the issue (took 2 days). Certain things didn’t work and we weren’t advised of them. As well, based on the pictures of the unit, it showed a partition wall between the bedroom and the rest of the unit. We needed this as we had our infant with us and the partition wall would allow us to use the rest of the unit while baby spelt in the bedroom. When we arrived, there was no partition wall, which completely changed how we could do naps and bedtime for our infant. He had to sleep off of the kitchen area which made it extremely hard to make dinner while he was sleeping for the night. There was also a lot of noise due to other unit’s renovations. Added to this, there was work being done on the exterior walls of the building (painting, power washing etc). At times, the noise from the power washing and the extra crew painting were noisy. Overall, not exactly the quiet vacation we were imagining for ourselves knowing we were staying on site and using the facilities more then say a couple without a baby.

Fabulous rental

This condo was just the best. So clean, so well stocked with everything in the kitchen. Also had cooler available for beach time, maps in info on activities too. The view is so delightful. Watched lots of whales from the Lanai and lots of turtles out at the beach wall. Pool and large sun deck never crowded. Neighbors were friendly as i went in search of quarters for the laundry.
