Casita Bonita~ your home away from from home in Big Bend
Located just a 5 minute walk from downtown Alpine, Casita Bonita is a wonderful place to rest your head while visiting Big Bend. Centrally located and just an hour from all the major attractions, such as Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Terlingua Ghost Town, Ft. Davis and the McDonal Observatory. And just a 20 minute drive to Marathon. Casita Bonita offers all the amenties you will need for a comfortable stay and has a large fenced backyard with an outdoor seating area and a fire pit.
4 adults, 1 infant, and family dog stayed 3 nights at this home. We primarily picked this listing because it is pet friendly. The house had everything you needed and met our basic needs. Was not overly impressed with the neighborhood, but it was quiet except for the dog next door that barked ALL THE TIME - ALL NIGHT LONG!!! There is only one window unit A/C, which more than adequately cooled the house. At night, this part of Texas is cool year round so it wasn't bad at night with the doors closed. However, during the day it is hot.
This is a cute home with a nice fenced yard for a dog. Bed was comfy and there is Wi-Fi and Roku available. Washer and dryer are there as well. Very easy to access from 118 or 90. We only stayed one night but it was perfect for us and our puppy.
My husband, me and pups came to Alpine/Big Bend Region for a Birthday Trip. We chose this property as they allowed pets, had a fenced in yard and had room to spread out. House was very spacious, clean and comfortable. As mentioned in other reviews, there are prickers in the backyard (not bad during the time we were there). There are dogs at the homes on either side of the house and in the neighborhood. We (and our dogs) also heard dogs barking early in the morning (1 am) plus the train coming through Alpine (again early in the morning). Not a deal breaker but just be aware. The house does not have central heating or air. We came during a freeze. The house does have a gas heater. We did not use it due to safety concerns with the dogs, luckily the house also had space heaters and the bedrooms had more than sufficient bedding.
Itâs a cute small casita with all the basic amenities. Our stay was right in the middle of the really cold temp and weâre worried whether the property will be warm enough. To our surprise, it was comfortable during our stay with heaters being in all the rooms.
Only one thing that I suggest is to have more utensils (plates, glasses, etc) in the kitchen. Otherwise, it was a good stay for us.
This is a charming little house that worked well for us. Alpine is a nice little town with easy access to necessities.
It is about an hour from Big Bend National Park as well.
A few minor things noticed - like towels getting frayed, but otherwise very pleasant
This was a great place for our friendsâ weekendâŠeasy access to everything in Alpine and the perfect size for the 3 of us. I will keep it on my list for future trips!
We loved this adorable casita. It was comfortable and quiet. It met all of our needs as a base camp for a visit to Big Bend and Maria. The backyard was a great space for the fur babies and for an early morning cup of coffee!
My husband, 18-month-old, and I had a fun visit in Alpine staying in this house. Due to the near triple-digit heat (end of May), I must say the bedrooms did stay warm (78/80 degrees) due to the one window unit which is located in living room. The kitchen/living areas kept very cool. The house does have everything you need; there is an abundance of towels and toilet paper, which is especially nice! This was the first VRBO at which our dog (English Springer Spaniel) stayed and he had plenty of room to roam around in the large backyard. The yard itself (being in the desert) is made up of mostly rock and dirt (which we are used to, living in Midland, TX haha). However, there were quite a few grass burrs. Overall, we had a lovely stay and plan on visiting again in the cooler months!
Nice and cozy house, very clean, big back yard. Alpine is a small town so the location is close to everything.
My main complaint was the A/C, there is only one tiny wall unit in the living room, there were fans in the bedrooms, if not for that it would have been very hot in the house. I would hate to be there during the summer when it really gets hot. The washing machine only half filled with water, we just got back from Big Bend so needed to was cloths and it took a long time having to do half loads.
This property was as described and in town. Cute, older home decorated nicely. Loved the tree limb accents in the home and the thought put into the furnishings and art. Having a washer and dryer on site was super helpful. The location of the property was very convenient to the library and town. P.s. One thing to remember while staying in Alpine, all restaurants are not open every day.
The property is absolutely adorable. This is the best well stocked place we have stayed in, which was most appreciated. Wilma was accomodating as Google Maps over estimated our time to get there and we ended up being a bit early. Great location to visit along with Big Bend Nat'l Park and Marfa.
We had a nice stay. Small and charming. One bedroom has a dresser and access to a small backyard deck. The back yard was secure for my dog. There is a fire pit available and chairs to view the beautiful night skies. The kitchen is only minimally outfitted. We bought salt and ice trays. We used the space heaters at night for our March visit. There is an AC window unit in living room but wasnât hot enough to require it on our visit. Room for 2-3 cars in front of property. Shower worked great and towels were nice. Hairdryer a nice touch. Floors a little wonky and crooked between the bedrooms. Neighborhood nice and quiet except occasionally dogs barking. Living room furniture small, but ok for an hour or two . House was small but great for our party of two. Would stay again.
We had a wonderful stay at the cozy little house. The description was accurate and the rental was seamless. No issues with anything. The beds/mattresses were of the quality you would find in a 5 star hotel. We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay.
I was looking to escape to west Texas for a few days and wanted a rental that would allow me to bring my dogs. This cute home in Alpine was absolutely perfect. Itâs centrally located and has WiFi and streaming services so you feel connected, but watching the sun rise over the mountains youâre quickly reminded of the incredible nature all around you. And itâs an easy, short trip from Alpine to Marfa, Marathon, and Ft. Davis so thereâs plenty to check out with a short a 30-minute drive in each direction. Wilma was so accommodating and a joy to correspond with. I highly recommend this rental to anyone looking to spend some time in west Texas!
