Beautiful home in excellent location for exploring Blowing Rock and hiking. Comfortable furniture and beds. Lovely master bath. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay and especially enjoyed the gas fireplace.
Our weekend at Evergreen Cottage was wonderful! The house was fully-loaded and had every thing we needed to grill/cook one of the nights. I loved the furnishings and decor in the house - they are top notch! My sister and I spent most of the weekend admiring how beautiful the house is! The couch was so comfortable and could fit many people. The layout of the house was perfect and I loved that each bedroom had a bathroom. We had a great time and have no complaints! I would highly recommend staying at Evergreen Cottage!
Very clean. Delighted with large array of cooking utensils and adequate supply of paper towels, dishwasher soap, washing machine soap, etc. Excellent location. Would stay again if no more than 4 people.
Problems:
1.If 3 people shower simultaneously, hot water runs out.
2. Could not use TV very much--Apple TV had updated and wanted a password to start (our passwords were in New Orleans). The agency staff could not get it to work even with an in-person visit.
3. Hot and cold water are reversed in washing machine, so must set on "cold" if desire "hot".
4. No hot water in master shower. Fortunately, my brother in law once owned a plumbing business and he could fix this.
5.Needs more light in stairwell.
6. Needs more light in living room, especially since TV does not work very well.
7. Master bath is poorly designed--should enclose toilet; either put in a shower door or drain by gravity as often encountered in Europe; and replace door to bed area in order not to awaken someone else if one uses toilet during the night (we solved this problem by moving to another bedroom on lower floor, since our group ended up as 4 instead of 6 people. Also, the mattresses in that lower floor bedroom were much more comfortable).
However, in summary, the house works well now for up to 4 people and I would rent it again.
only a 5 minute drive from Main St Blowing Rock and the Blueridge Parkway- still a very serene location with great views. Wonderful deck, nice fire pit, beautiful interior with the nicest bathroom you could ever think of, lots of natural light due to floor to ceiling windows, huge TV and cozy fireplace, ping pong table including balls and rackets and very tastefully decoration throughout the entire house. We loved every bit of it and will definitely be back.
We so enjoyed our stay. Just the get away we needed. Property was well equipped and so comfortable!
The only suggestion I would have for the owners to consider is a bar to help get out of the white bathtubs.
Overall, this was a great place to stay. It was very roomy, clean (minus a few spider webs), very easy to get to, and close to Blowing Rock or Boone. The only issues we had were minor. The door locks were hard to work, but after the maintenance guy (Dave, super nice guy) came out and showed us how to work them, it was fine. Another issue was our firewood. We prepaid for bundles to be left at the house for our arrival. Well, it was wet wood and did not want to burn. So we ended up having to purchase firewood out in town.
We stayed here for Labor Day Weekend and absolutely loved it. The home is beautiful, very well decorated and appointed. The kitchen has absolutely everything you will need for cooking and then some - Just bring the food you will prepare. Every square foot of this home is comfortable and accommodating from the huge sectional couch to the beds. It's a 4 mile drive into downtown Blowing Rock and very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiking spots. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will plan our next trip to coincide with the availability of this property. Highly recommended.
