The house is absolutely gorgeous, the backyard view is amazing only downside is the backporch camera it faces in the house and feels like you are being watched. I understand wanting to watch the doors but maybe put up a certain cause it looks like the camera looks directly inside. But other thrn that it was a nice stay.

Thanks for the feedback Amanda. The camera is actually pointed towards the deck while it does face the back door, because of the way that it's angled, you cannot see inside the home.

The Retreat

We were definitely pleased with the property and its location. There were a few issues with the internet speed, but the property manager was very diligent in communicating and trying to troubleshoot with us. We would love to stay here again in the future and would definitely recommend to friends!

Great stay!!!

We absolutely LOVED our stay!! The house is actually much larger than the pictures show - plenty of room! The beds were incredibly comfortable. My kids loved the foozeball table in the back. The backyard view were gorgeous (wish we would have gotten more snow while we were there) - we have a family of deer that came through every morning we were there. The host was more than accommodating! Thanks so much for agreat stay!

Family get away

Had an amazing time at the house. The kids loved the space, and loved all the games they had. Saw a quite a few deer and horses in the mornings, and the winter park is literally down the street that the kids enjoyed a lot. The view in the evenings were absolutely amazing sitting on the back porch. We would definitely return!

Family wedding

We have stayed at this property before, and we love it so much we keep coming back! The host is always so nice and easy to communicate with. We stayed the weekend for a family member's wedding located less than 10 minutes away. This single level home is great for older family members who aren't able to go up and down stairs easily.

So homey and amazing view!

As soon as we entered the house, it was decorated for the season and so cute! Everything was so clean. The bathrooms and kitchen were well supplied. The house was so cozy my kids kept saying they immediately felt at home and didn't want to leave. Of course, that view of the mountains as soon as you look out the backdoor was amazing! We loved getting to see deer and elk walk through and hang around the yard. We had such a great stay at The Retreat at 7500 ft!

Great place in Alto!

Rented this house for my parents, and they loved the house. The location was perfect for them, the covered patio was where they spent most of their time, were they saw elk and deer. It was important for them, not to have many steps to get to the house and this one fit the bill. There was an issue with a sulfur smell, which the House Manager explained and was quick to respond to. Overall they really enjoyed the house.

Comfortable relaxing getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was clean and newly decorated in the southwest style which is perfect for the area! The bedding is amazing(love the sheets)and the home is well appointed. The house is off the road enough so it isn't noisy and we saw three big elk out back and a couple of wild horses grazed in the yard several times as we had drinks on the patio out front. There is also a nice deck with a table and chairs and games out back so you can always find a cool spot front or back yard. We had a bit of trouble finding the house but a super nice man splitting wood next door pointed us in the right direction! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay at this home again!

Family birthday weekend

We went to Ruidoso/Alto for the weekend to celebrate multiple family birthdays. Other family members stayed at properties that were difficult for them to get into or had very odd layouts, but my immediate family absolutely loved this house!! So many homes in the area are multi level and are difficult for older family members to get in and out of. This house is a wonderful single level home (just a couple steps into the front door), and it also has a great driveway that is very easy to get in and out of. The host sent messages leading up to the stay with great information about the property and very helpful directions that made getting to the property very easy! We definitely want to stay here for future visits!

Nice Property, But has Issues

The home and property were very nice. House very well decorated. However we encountered the following problems; bad smell from bathrooms which owners air fresheners could not cover, septic aerator ran 24/7 in back yard, water very hard (bring your drinking water), hair in bathroom, towel hook fell out of wall (just had sheetrock screw, already been pulled out before we got there), very very slow internet. While host responded to phone calls, none of these issues were addressed while there, so may still be issue for future guests.

Thank you for staying with us, Terry. We apologize for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Often, the sulfer smell coming through is not necessarily septic, but the mineralized water smell (especially if the water hasn't been run in a day or two). It's often mistaken for sewer or rotten egg smell. We are consulting our plumber to ensure no we have no sewer issues. As we mentioned, the septic aerator is required by law and in the two years we have welcomed guests, we have never had another complaint that this was a nuisance. However, a box is being installed this coming weekend to help muffle the sound. In our description, we mention the water is well water and highly mineralized and is completely safe to drink but suggest if people don't prefer that, they can bring their own water. The towel hook was installed with the hardware that came with it and has lasted two years without issue. This issue has also been addressed. We were not made aware of the hair or internet issues, so we cannot fix what we don't know about. However, the home was cleaned right before your arrival so if somehow the cleaning crew left hair, we will address that with them. In the two years, you are the first non-five star review we received so we apologize your stay was not up to our standard but take all feedback seriously and will always look for ways to improve our rental so we can welcome guests to a cozy home in the mountains. Thanks again!
