Our stay was lovely! The house is a perfect place to relax and gather with friends. We had 7 people and there was more than enough space to accommodate us. We came from Pittsburgh and thoroughly enjoyed the respite from the city. Everyone in our party was talking about how they'd love to return in the future!
Perfect Country Retreat
Beautiful, isolated country house with many amenities. We were able to stay in the middle of the forest with a hot shower or bath every night, air conditioning in our bedroom, and a washer and dryer. The property is very well landscaped. The house has everything you need. The owners were kind and friendly. Would return. Highly recommend.
Most beautiful farmhouse, very inviting, everything you could possible need was there.
Well kept home , stocked with everything you could possibly need. Enjoyed sitting out in evening around the fire. Lots of room to spread in home, kids enjoyed hiking and even adventured into game lands. Highly recommend.
quiet nice and roomy place
We stayed there 3 nights. My daughter was graduating from Penn St with her Masters Degree. The drive from the house to State College was beautiful. It was a very pleasant drive that was not too long... less than an hour. The house itself had everything we needed. Plenty of towels for 5 adults and a baby for the three nights. The high chair was vintage and a nice touch and a big help. Four bedrooms upstairs with a half bath.... kitchen was huge with a dining room table in the middle... there was a den with a retro box TV... off of the dining room was another room with two tables and chairs... we really loved the added on back room with all of the windows and the gas fireplace. There were plenty of games and puzzles to play.... we really enjoyed the fishing time game! There was a bathroom downstairs with a shower and a separate room with a jacuzzi bath tub. They even had a washer and dryer in the basement which was very handy so we could catch up on laundry before we left. There was a stream that ran through the property... love that sound! It was everything one might expect from an 1890’s farm house.... not too many plugs for today’s technology but with some extension cords we made it work. Harold was very nice... helped out with some local eating places. I wish we could have met his wife Judy... but she was not feeling well and had just been released from the hospital. Over all the stay was very good and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable for us... my son 6’1”... 250... slept on the futon in the add on room... it was the only room that had the window unit installed. It was a wooden very sturdy and comfortable bed according to him. Why I am not giving 5 stars is due to the fact that the AC window units were not put in yet from the winter... it would have been nice being able to turn those on at night... my wife loves it COLD when sleeping. Also... the place was not dirty or nasty by any means but it could have used some deeper cleaning in some areas... but that is just probably a curse from my work background as a custodial Director for a school district. One more thing I might recommend... a more distinct driveway with stepping stones to the front door. It probably would have been fine but it had rained a lot while we were there. Thanks again Harold and Judy for opening up your beautiful farm house to me and my family.
