Spend a weekend Up North at this charming cottage. This spot is the perfect home base to enjoy everything that our idyllic area has to offer! Bring your boat and launch it at the Inland Waterway access only half a mile away. Grab a coffee and take a short walk to the river to watch the boats come by. Spend a relaxing evening cozied up by the bonfire.
Located in downtown Alanson; 15-20 min drive to Harbor Springs or Petoskey. Easy access to local golf courses, beaches, hiking, and more!
Perfectly located in a central area with much to do in every direction. There was some construction on the main roadway so we had to detour to leave and come back to the property.
The cottage was perfectly located to visit everywhere we wanted with just a short drive. We enjoyed the privacy and quietness of the cottage. It was very clean and decorated lovely. Communication with the host was always prompt and pleasant. The cottage had many extras that are often not provided. We loved the bakery across the street and very much appreciated the shortbreads when we arrived to the cottage. Our family of three enjoyed our stay very much!
Our family enjoyed our stay in Alanson. The cottage is cute and recently updated. The rooms fit our family well. The outdoor space was nice and private. In just a few steps you'll find river access and a playground.
The cottage is in a perfect location to explore the upper part of Michigan and parts of the UP. It's about 10 minutes from Petoskey and about 30 minutes from Mackinac area, you can even make a day trip to the Sue Locks or Tahquamenon Falls.
The cottage is well stocked with kitchen essentials. It was clean and we really appreciated being able to easily use cleaning supplies, extra paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, and towels. One unexpected perk we also loved was the shower head, most rentals use cheap shower heads with minimal water pressure and the owners didn't go cheap in this rental.
For future renters, I would note the loft area is perfect for kids and is 'kid' sized, an adult cannot stand up straight. Our kids loved having their own area.
Suggestions for improvement, there are AC units in the bedrooms, but not the full cottage, this is fine, except most of the windows do not open. It would be beneficial if the windows and doors had screens so they could be opened for fresh air and cooling the cottage. It would also be great if more of the windows did open, as many are not able to be opened.
This area is my home and have loved every second of it. While I moved away for a period of time, it was hard to stay away. I now live here with my girlfriend and fully don't consider this a 'rental property' and hope neither will you but rather our wish is that you consider it your home away from home throughout your stay.
This property is so unique because it offers so much variety to outdoor activities. While the house is quaint, it is very secluded, away from the road with trees lining either side of the house. There is a firepit and a huge yard for your family to enjoy and make memories.
Additionally, it is 30 feet away from the river so you can jump on at any time. If you are a boater, you can drop your boat from the boat-launch (.5 miles away) and navigate several lakes (crooked, burt, mullet, etc.).
It is located in downtown Alanson so you can walk to dinner, but also a short 15 minute drive from Petoskey or Harbor Springs, a great jumping off point for any adventure.
