This cottage is cozy, clean and delightful. The moment I walk in the door, I take a big sigh and feel relaxed and at home. The property manager works hard to ensure guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay. You won't want to leave!!
Our vacation was absolutely wonderful! We loved using the bike path every day and the little beach. The house is just beautiful and totally comfortable. Weâre sad to leave!
This was about the 5th time we stayed at this property, and we love it so much. It's the perfect size for us, close to all the places we enjoy visiting, and has everything everything we need. If there IS anything extra needed, Oleson's is a quick trip up the road. We will be back!
This house is absolutely perfect! Super clean, very cozy, and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed a full week here with our dogs while my husband was on ski patrol. The walking path behind the house was perfect! The house is very well stocked with everything you could need. The owner was absolutely wonderful. We cannot say enough good things and look forward to staying again in the future!
My mom and I were looking for a cozy place to celebrate our October birthdays and see some Fall color. We were not disappointed. The location was perfect for where we wanted to visit. We ate at many of our favorite places and even tried a couple of new ones! It rained each day we were up north, but we loved coming back to Harlow House to cozy up. The large windows were perfect for watching the weather roll by. We also loved the high tables/stools in the dining area. We had our work laptops with us, and these tables were great to work at - it reminded us of a Cafe! House was clean, updated, and we loved the decor. Patrick was also very prompt to respond if we needed something. We will definitely be back.
The property was clean, quiet and nicely decorated. Although we didnt use them, It had a number of outdoor things available to do. We were most grateful for a soft place to land at night after spending the days out with friends, air conditioning and washer/dryer access. If I could have wished for something to be different it would have been for a more accurate and specific description in the property bio. It looks as though its on the lake and it says that it sleeps 8. Neither of those were completely true. It was near a lake and offered a pack & play & air mattress as beds. By using the couch, we slept mom dad & 3 kids comfortably.
Very fashionable remodeled house. The trip wasn't without problems (not anyone's fault) but the owner and staff were wonderful in resolving the issues. A full dining table would've been nice, but we made it work. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
The Harlow House is an adorable cottage centrally located to wonderful area attractions. Immaculate, brand new interior with many essentials provided. Comfortable bedroom sleeping and enough indoor and outdoor entertainment for evening wind-downs. The sofa was okay for seating, but a little uncomfortable for lounging. Another living room chair or two might be suggested for a family who enjoys some evening movies together.
Our trip took us out of Oden, for the most part. We spent a day on Mackinac Island, a day up at Tahquamenon Falls, and short visits to the Tunnel of Trees and Petosky. Northwood Restaurant and House of Pies bakery within walking distance are both recommended if you stay nearby (Carmel apple tart was our favorite).
The bike path is awesome! We did not use the bikes because we had our pup, but I imagine you'd have quite an adventure all the way up to Mackinac City. We did walk to the Oden Fish Hatchery (which was 1.8 miles down the path) which I recommend, and also attempted the highway dodge across US 31 to the small lake access for the sunset view. Be careful if you attempt this...the lake is beautiful and is "steps away" from the cottage for the view, but those steps are not easy.
In all, we had a lovely stay. Keeping in mind the second cottage on the same property for the next time we bring the whole family. Thank you, Harlow House!
We stayed in Alanson during the Bay Harbor boat show and could not have selected a better place and hosts. We had a few schedule changes and were fortunate that Patrick was able to accommodate. Check in and out was a breeze and we appreciated their recommendations of places to see. The house was immaculate and very comfortable with all the necessities.
If your travels take you to the Petoskey area, do not hesitate to book! The location was perfect for getting to all the sites quickly and easily while still enjoying the backyard and the lake!
We had a wonderful stay! The home is very clean and the location is very close to skiing at Boyne Highlands or Nubs. The bike path in the backyard is awesome! The owners put a lot of thought into this cute home. Everything you need is provided and the owner is super responsive. We would definitely stay again.
We come to the Petoskey area every New Years for skiing with our teens. Weâve stayed at many different rentals over the years and this is another great rental.
The location is amazing for getting to BOYNE Highlands or Nubs. About a 12 minute easy drive. Itâs also located across the highway from Crooked Lake and literally connected to a 30 mile bike trail. For summer bike riding this is something we will come back to.
The place itself has been completely redone and has been recently purchased by a family member whoâs relatives built it. Theyâve done a great job modernizing and updating and itâs clean and fresh.
Since it just opened and is a newer rental we have the owner a couple of suggestions around a small number of kitchen items, a bigger dining table, and living room seating. In every case they were appreciative and had already planned the updates. When these are done Iâm sure the photos will be updated and then it will be even more amazing.
Overall we loved our stay and are planning to return soon. Location and local amenities, along with super comfy beds will keep us coming back, and we look forward to seeing the new additions! Thanks!!!
The property was renovated in 2019 and is very nicely decorated. Patrick was a great host, easy to contact and work with. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the bike trail to Petosky (literally steps away).
We had a lovely time staying at this property. The place was clean, cozy, and in great condition. The appliances are all updated, and thereâs a nice grill outside. The master bed was comfortableâwe slept really well.
The living room was right off the porch, so thereâs great light coming in during the day. At night, however, thereâs either a really bright overhead light or these neon blue lights, neither of which are relaxing when youâre trying to wind down. The living room couch is more of a decorative couch. If youâre planning on having someone sleep on it, Iâd suggest bringing a pad for the top. We didnât spend too much time indoors and didnât sleep on the couch, so it didnât affect us.
The location is pretty good; itâs tucked away just off a main road. The house is not right on the lakeâyou have to walk a bit to get to the lakefront access, and the public access section is pretty small. But the best part is that itâs right in front of a long bike path that you can take to various neighboring areas, including the Petosky Brewery. Although Oden itself is quiet without many restaurants in a quick radius, Petosky is a short drive away. We loved the locationâs close proximity to all the wineries nearby.
The only issue we had all trip was not having the code to unlock the bikes, but Patrick was quick to respond to remedy the issue.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and Patrick was a great host. We would look to book again! Five stars because the very little observations I noted werenât a huge deal. :)
This place was exactly as listed. Ideal location too - short distance to Petoskey, Mackinaw and Harbor Springs! Patrick was so great to work with too. Will book again in the future!
Excellent property for a long weekend with the family.
Excellent house that was just the right size for my family of 5 and two dogs. The was was very clean and the owner was great to work with. Look forward to coming back in 2020.
This house was built in 1938 by our late uncle, Robert "Pinky" Kline who was a World War II veteran and renown area hunter and fisherman. Pinky hunted and fished every corner of North America, and was successful in bagging all the big game he set his sights on.
After Pinky passed we bought the house and brought it back to its past glory plus some. We wanted to keep the original charm while taking it to a more modern place. We absolutely love this house and the area. Our family consists my wife, two young children and myself. We have put a lot of love and hard work into this restoration and we hope you truly enjoy as much as we do.
This property has been completely remodeled and interior has been professionally designed. We have spared no expense for a truly 5 star rural experience. You will not find a more luxurious short term rental in the area.
This property is located steps from Crooked Lake, steps from the Petoskey - Mackinaw Bike Path, a short 10 mins from the area ski resorts, and golf courses, and 15 mins from Harbor Springs and Petoskey. This property is also only 30 mins from Mackinaw Island, you are perfectly located for year round enjoyment.
