The Old Farmstead is a lovely historic home build in 1937. It has been renovated and refinished in 2021 without losing the charm of its origins. The house is completely surrounded by farmlands for a quiet and relaxing place to visit. It has unbeatable views of the Bitterroot Mountains, a breathtaking location to enjoy the sunrise and sunsets of the Valley. Centrally located it is only 7 miles for downtown Stevensville and 3.5 miles for the town of Victor. Only a 5 minute drive for a wonderful access point to the blue ribbon Bitterroot River.
We had a wonderful time staying at this vrbo while attending our sonâs wedding nearby. The property is beautiful, the house is clean and quiet. Would stay there again!
3 time staying here - always a great experience! Exceptional property with plenty of room to roam and explore- lots of deer and wildlife - very quiet/private setting.
We all really enjoyed our stay at the farmstead. It was really nice to be in a secluded area. The views are spectacular and we got to experience the local wildlife. The house was very comfortable and the amenities made it even better. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We loved our week in Stevie, visiting friends, fishing, seeing the Daly Mansion, and even mining for sapphires in a nearby mine! The Rhodes homestead is in the heart of it all but peaceful and quite and a charming home. Our family of five from early teens to grandma were easily accommodated and the home is clean and lovely. Will definitely stay here again!
We booked this as a venue for our weekend wedding. The weekend was beautiful. Property was clean and ready to go. So easy to set up and a beautiful space. Clean up was easy and simple post wedding so we didn't need to stress too much! Would definitely recommend.
We needed a spot to stay that was near our aging parentâs place on N Birch Lane when we came up from Idaho to do some major property improvements. This place was pretty perfect! It is cute, clean, and super close for us to run back and forth. It had the exact number of comfy beds needed for our group - and those sheets are so soft! And the circular driveway was great for our large truck and dump trailer. And the highlight was seeing the two baby deer every morning! Our only complaint was that there is only one shower so we had to wait as we took turns cleaning up. I kind of missed that detail in the listing but even if I had noticed there was only one shower, I am positive we still would have stayed there. In fact, I am sure we will be staying there once a year when we come up to help out the parents.
We loved the entire stay - from booking to check in, to the stay, to the check out. The host, properly manager and care taker were great. Beautiful old farmhouse. They allowed us to walk around the property. We made a campfire. We made smores. It was a wonderful stay.
Quiet, serene, peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, well-stocked, great communication from hosts, and I could go on and on about how much we loved this location! I would definitely stay here again as it's one of the best places!
The driveway was long and a little rough but the place was clean and well kept. We had some issues getting into the place but my host was able to get it corrected quickly.
Loved our stay in this lovely farmhouse in a prime Bitterroot Valley location. Peaceful, private and serene and perfect as a home base and a place to hang out and relax. Hope to come back again and again!
This was a wonderful home. We were greeted by our host who was cleaning up the yard after a storm which had just occurred. The home was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We wish we could have stayed longer.
This old farmstead was exactly what we were needing for the weekend! The host was amazing and very accommodating. The location is amazing, very reminiscent of visiting grandma's house. Couldn't have asked for a better place. We will be back for certain!!
For anyone wanting an immersion into the beauty of Montana, this is so perfect. The house is an old farmhouse beautifully maintained. The light inside is so peaceful and inviting. The grounds are just gorgeous. This was everything we wanted it to be.
It was the cutest home! Loved the views and property. The recent updates were nicely done, and it was super spacious! It was the perfect place for bridesmaid and close friends to stay during my sisters wedding week. We had a little trouble/miscommunication with the lockbox/door code (it was updated at the property but not updated in the correspondence), but we figured it out. The next day we got locked out but the manager and owner were there to help us within minutes. Super friendly and quick to help!
Highly recommend staying here! Youâll want to just sit outside and stare at the beauty that surrounds you - or cozy on up inside with a good book!
5 of us stayed in this beautiful home as our good friend was getting married nearby. The place was perfect, exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of rooms and beds, beautiful kitchen with everything you might need, and a gorgeous yard to enjoy. Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful place.
Julia Starrett is the property manger for this house.
Laurie Sutherlin is the home owner. She is a Montana native and respected member of the local community. She runs the farmlands (with her husband) that surround the home and lives full-time near by. Laurie has worked hard to restore his historic home and property.
The farmlands surrounding the home have been worked by the Sutherlin family for over ten years. They only acquired the home in 2020, when the previous family owners decided that the restoration project was to much to take on. Bringing back this home has been a labor of love and Laurie Sutherlin is happy to share its history with the visitors to the area.
Staying at the Old Farmstead allows for a unique opportunity to stay in a historic home. Updated with modern conveniences it is a relaxing property to come home to after a day of adventuring in the Bitterroot Valley. It is a very private and quiet setting with only the occasional farm equipment passing by during the day to remind visitors of the amazing farmlands that keep Montana a vibrant place to live.
