Amazing stay at an amazing spot

This was my 1st visit to Perdido Key and it will not be my last. Blue Heron by the Sea was the perfect place to stay. House was spacious and clean. Location was absolutely amazing. The Beach Club was just fantastic. The transport back and forth to the beach was a huge plus. Can't wait to come to back again.

Another awesome vacation!

This is our 3rd trip to the Blue Heron! The house has everything you need and is a short walk to the beach and beach pool/restaurant. We absolutely love being able to sit and have some good food and drink and have an ocean view. The neighborhood pool and weight room is also great to keep yourself on track for fitness goals. Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Pensacola Beach are all close. Flora Bama is a must! This year we watched the Blue Angels practice and that was incredible. Gulf Shores state park is an awesome place to go for a walk or e-bike ride. Lana, thanks for always being a gracious host!!!

Great Family Vacation

The pools and facilities in Lost Keys are very well kept and clean. The house is perfect for a large group or family. Would definitely recommend Blue Heron for your family vacation!

This Blue Heron house is beautiful and a wonderful place to stay. The decor and furniture inside is very fitting to the area and it makes you feel very at home. The owners are always available to contact for any maintenance or issues, and they get things resolved very promptly. I have loved staying here, and if I could, I would stay longer! Highly recommend staying here if you want a guaranteed clean, comfortable, and beautiful home to stay in.

Everything you need!

This home has just about everything you need! There’s plenty of beach chairs and a couple of umbrellas. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and tools. It was really nice how they provided soap, a couple of trash bags and dishwasher and laundry pods. The beds are very comfortable. The house was very clean and I am a picky person. We had a great week! The Blue Heron is a very nice place to stay!

Perfect place to stay!’

The Blue Heron by the sea is wonderful place to stay and perfect for families. It has great amenities with pools, fitness center and the private beach access with umbrellas and chair provided. We never had an issue getting chairs and umbrellas, the 2 pools (1 in the community, 1 on the beach with a restaurant/bar) were great. It is a gated community with security at the front, so only the people who have credentials are allowed in. That’s a nice feature especially when traveling with children. The location has plenty of shopping and restaurants close by, but because of the location it doesn’t feel like you’re in a busy area, it feels like a nice, quiet and private place. The house is incredible, spacious, well appointed has everything needed for a great vacation with small or large groups. I highly recommend staying here.

Great week at Blue Heron

Had a great stay at Blue Heron. House is well stocked with everything you could possibly need, plenty of room for everyone, and Lana was super quick to respond to any of our needs. Pool down the street was probably the kids' favorite and they loved being able to bike to pool and beach. Streets are pretty safe for kids to ride on. Having the pool and restaurant on the beach was a nice perk and it was never difficult to grab beach chairs despite the crowds. Lana's advice of dropping a group off at the beach and then driving back to house and biking back was the best bet. The public beach parking next door was usually full. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for everything Lana!

Lovely house but club needs improvement

This was our first time to Perdido Key and the Lost Key Resort. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Blue Heron. The home is spacious with ample room for a large family or group. The home is appropriately appointed for a rental property. (We could’ve used an ice cream scooper though!) We did not find the beds to be comfortable and the set of bunk beds were too wobbly to feel safe. The washer and dryer worked well and we were happy it wasn’t a front loader! The reason we deducted 1 star was due to the beach “resort”. Our vacation began by waiting in a queue for 30 minutes at the guard shack to register our vehicle and get a parking tag. We arrived at about 5pm on a Saturday with many other travelers. This information could VERY easily be provided ahead of time and a tag mailed or left at the unit for renters. Second, while the description is accurate that it is about 1 mile from the house to the actual beach, it is not mentioned that you have to cross a very busy highway without a crosswalk. There is a crosswalk down by the public beach access but not in front of the actual club. 2 of our party almost got hit by a car riding a bike across the cross path! If you’re used to Seaside, this traffic did not stop! While there is a shuttle, it is very hard to actually utilize. When we would call to request the car, we were told it would be 20-30 minutes each time, even at times when the busyness slowed. Since there isn’t parking at the beach club for guests, this was annoying. It is much too far to tote children, gear, etc: so we ended up driving, dropping off, and someone would ride a bike back. Lastly, we felt the beach club not to be worth the extra premiums paid for this rental. The pool by the beach (where the bar is located) is TINY and seats fill up very quickly. The larger pool is nice but also fills up quickly. It’s worth noting that you are not allowed to hold a drink in the water or even have it on the edge. Security guards walked around many times and made people remove them. It kind of killed the vacation vibe. The bar and restaurant are currently not open M-W (which was told to us a week before check-in via email). However, the drinks were good and the food average. If you want a beach chair, go EARLY as they fill up fast. However, be prepared to leave by 5pm because they remove the chairs at 5:30pm! All in all the house and owner are very nice and accommodating but the club needs some operating improvement.

Perfect for our family getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay! We had multiple families with younger kids staying together. The property was clean and well appointed with everything you would expect. This was a perfect setup with plenty of space for each family to have some privacy, but also plenty of space to gather. The open floorplan kitchen and dining area was great! The adults and older kids could play games at the dining area table while the younger kids watched TV, but still all being together. The back porch overlooking the lagoon and golf course was also nice in the morning and late afternoons. A great place to chill out with your coffee or a book. The kids loved the bunk beds and the adults were able to have their own private rooms. The first level included a pretty big garage area and BBQ grill out back. The garage was nice to have for keeping the golf clubs, bikes, beach toys, pool toys, etc. It was nice having the option of the beach, as well as the community pool. We actually spent about as much time at the pool as we did the beach! The community pool is a short bike and easy walk from the unit. The pool is really nice with a zero entry area. There wasn't any food or drink service at the community pool. So, you will need to bring any snacks or drinks you may want. The beach is an little bit longer bike ride from the unit, but still not bad (about 3 minutes). Some days we drove the car and parked in the public beach parking lot (since there is not parking available at the beach club). The shuttle was also convenient and was a nice feature if you don't want to have to drive and deal with the limited parking available at the beach. It was nice having the beach chairs and beach club available throughout the stay. The beach club is right on the beach and is good for a quick bite to eat or a break from the beach. It isn't gourmet dining. However, it is good for lunch or a snack without having to leave the beach, and the kids enjoyed it (which makes the parents happy). The drinks were average and the staff was friendly. The bar at the beach club had a basic beer & drink selection. The daily specialty drink was nice and usually pretty good. The beach club also had a small pool and bathrooms available. The beach chairs were convenient to have available. Although, the public beach area was less crowded, so some days we decided to just put out our own blanket and chairs on the public beach, instead. If you take advantage of the beach chair service, you won't likely get chairs on the front row when you arrive, but the attendant will work you up toward the front as better seats become available during your stay. There was also an exercise room at the community pool. It was pretty nice. It had all the basic equipment you would want for cardio or weights. It was very clean, and all the equipment looked almost brand new. It overlooks the pool. So, it was nice being able to fit in some exercise while keeping an eye on the kids at the pool. We would definitely go back.

Spacious, well appointed, and fantastic location

We’ve stayed at Blue Heron twice with some friends and family and are looking forward to another trip back this summer. The house is huge! 6 adults and 6 kids comfortably sat in the wide open kitchen and dining area for meals. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The bedrooms are a great size and the adults and kids had plenty of room to spread out. We were able to catch the shuttle to the beach most days. It’s tough to find a parking spot so I’d recommend taking the shuttle when possible. The pool and clubhouse were awesome. The zero entry area was perfect for the little ones. Service at the beach club could be a lot better, but that’s no fault of The Blue Heron. We liked how central the location was to Orange Beach. The Flora-Bama and The Gulf were only a short car ride away, as well as the outlet mall.

We absolutely love this house, it is the perfect location close to the beach, pool, golf and tennis courts!

This house has exceeded our expectations! It is fully furnished, in close proximity to the beach, pool, tennis courts, golf courts, and a gym. Everything we needed was within walking distance. Lana was very attentive, and responded to all of our texts within 10 minutes of us sending them. Any problems we had with the house, which were minimal, were promptly resolved. I would highly recommend this house for any occasion, whether its a family vacation or a long term rental!

Great family vacation!

We loved our stay. Close to beach and pool but set back and quiet. The home was arranged perfectly for our family which included two married couples, and two sets of adult women and men.Everyone had their own bathrooms and we loved the common space. Plenty of room to spread out. We also spent hours on the back porch with a great lagoon and golf course view. Perdido Key had just enough to do to not get bored but not so much you felt like you had to be on the go all the time. The beach service was great and we took advantage of our chairs and umbrellas each day. The owners are very responsive before and during the stay if needed. Would highly recommend!
