Float On is the perfect cottage for your Outer Banks getaway! It is centrally located in Kill Devil Hills, providing easy access to neighboring towns and many OBX attractions.

This classic saltbox home rests in a quiet KDH neighborhood and features living space, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, one full bath, and laundry facilities. For your convenience, there is an enclosed outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach. Relax on the back deck or multi-level patio.

One bedroom is suited with a king bed and the other with two twin beds. Linens and bath towels are provided.

The fully equipped kitchen with countertop seating is ready for you to cook and enjoy meals. There's also a charcoal grill in the backyard.

When it’s time to wind down, hang in the living room where there is a 50-inch Smart TV and wifi. We've also stocked the house with board games and movies for those rainy days.

Your well-mannered pup is welcome here too! The backyard is fenced in; however, please keep your pet company while in the yard and pick up after them. While away from the home, we ask that you crate your dog. We do request a non-refundable pet fee.

Float On is not only located near many shops and restaurants, the beautiful Albemarle Sound is a short walk away where you will have water access, many an incredible sunset, and miles of paved multi-use trail. A public boat ramp is also nearby. The Atlantic Ocean is not far either. Third Street provides a crosswalk and a straight shot to the beach! Our guests enjoyed the bikes and beach carts provided.

Have kids or like tennis or pickle ball? The newest public park in KDH, featuring a splash pad, modern playground equipment, and tennis courts is a short bike ride away.

Whether you're ready to be active or to relax, set to shop or explore the Outerbanks’ rich history and nature, Float On is ready for you and your family and friends, to make memories!

We really enjoyed our first trip to the OBX. The property was advertised. It was the perfect size for my wife, dog and me. The bed was super comfortable. The living spaces were well appointed and comfortable. I would return to this property again.

An OBX gem!

Perfect place for my partner & my small pup for a week in OBX! The property was easy to find, comfortable, and just a short drive from beach access. We enjoyed the location/neighborhood & found plenty of excellent dining options nearby. The host was so friendly and helpful! I can’t recommend this place enough!

Perfect Home for a Week-Long Beach Trip

We loved staying in Josh’s home! It was sparkling clean and exactly as advertised. Its close proximity to the sound was perfect for long morning walks with our dog and beautiful views of OBX sunsets. We really enjoyed taking the beach cruisers for long rides. Thanks for the memories!

Great Stay

This was our first time visiting the Outer Banks and we found this home a perfect central location for all we wanted to explore. We loved being so close to the multi-use trail and rode bikes every day. The house was clean, the bed was comfortable, and our kids loved the outdoor shower. We would definitely stay here again.

Outer banks gem!

We enjoyed our stay so very much! The home is spotless! So many beautiful touches to give the home charm. The home was comfortable and welcoming. The king size bed was so comfortable to sleep on. We enjoyed the hammock on the deck to sit outside and listen to the birds. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. Having a washer/dryer is always a plus! Josh and Vanessa were so easy to communicate with and made our stay lovely.

Perfectly appointed, relaxing stay

I stayed at Float On for an extended period in June, as I wanted a quiet place to work, write and enjoy the beach with my dog after a very busy period. The property and hosts delivered on everything! The home is compact, extremely neat, uncluttered and located in a quiet neighborhood of full-time residents. Despite its somewhat austere furnishings, everything you need is here and of very high quality. For me, the atmosphere of organization and tidiness was extremely relaxing. My beagle loved the direct access from the front deck (my hangout) to the grassy fenced yard. On our daily walks on the beautiful soundside multi-use path, my beag and I were quickly befriended by the locals and I learned a lot about the community. And from this location it was a quick drive to free beach parking and being right on the sand in seconds! I usually stay in Corolla but was pleasantly surprised by how much more I enjoyed the close conveniences, less tourist crowding and smoother traffic flow of KDH. A highlight was walking down to 3rd Steet beach for fireworks on the 4th By the end of my time at Float On, I was genuinely sorry to leave. My doggo was so distraught at having to go he wouldn't get in the car and I had to chase him through the neighborhood. Thanks to the awesome locals, we had him in the car and ready to go quickly. Favorite things about Float On: Beach bikes, outdoor shower, comfy king bed, cute, quiet neighborhood, high -end washer-dryer, great hosts!

Great return stay

We are returning guests for our 2nd time and always enjoy our stay here. The neighborhood is quiet, friendly and a super short walk to the sound-side walking/biking path. We love the hammock, the neighborhood, and the open kitchen. Highly recommend this place for a sound-side stay.

Comfortable and modest

The house was exactly what we needed for a week away in the OBX. It was centrally located and easy to travel to all nearby towns and beaches. I especially enjoyed the fenced backyard for our dog, and the porch + hammock (which got a lot of use)! The host checked in on us and provided a local recommendation, which was really thoughtful. The kitchen was very well appointed with all the tools needed for a comfortable stay. Some recommendations for an even MORE optimal stay: -Offer guests more than 1 toilet paper roll. -Offer guests more than 1 garbage bag, especially if it is encouraged we throw trash out twice. -I think an economy sized shampoo/conditioner should be expected for a property at this price point. -Side tables in the bedroom should be slightly larger/higher with at least one small table lamp. -A full length mirror would be nice to have. -Citronella candles on the porch table and/or out back would be most appreciated. I also couldn’t find any lights in the backyard, but maybe I couldn’t find the right switch! -The yard really needed some maintenance. There were wild mushrooms growing everywhere (which are deadly to dogs) and dead cicadas everywhere. These are simple recommendations that would bring this rental to a higher tier. Otherwise, it was totally suitable for our needs and we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks!

Would not hesitate to stay again

We were here for as a family of 4 for beach trip. Our 4 year old, 18 month old and dog were with us. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable for a week and the location was perfect. We really appreciated the Gorilla cart for taking things to the beach. Communication with the owners and ease of check-in was great. The location was a 3 minute drive to beach access and 2 minutes from a grocery store and gas station, 30 min to Duck, 45 min to Corolla.

Float on is really nice!!

This place had everything we needed for a great time!! I REALLY appreciate the good beach supplies, I always bring my own wagon, chairs, shelter etc etc but Float On had a real nice wagon, (better then mine!). The chairs looked really nice and new. We used ours but my wife did use one to lay out in the back and she said it was comfy. The Deck upstairs is really nice and perfect for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. The backyard is fully fenced in and also has a beautiful deck and fire pit. We enjoyed how close the sound side is and there is a bike trail we took to the Wright’s Brother Monument. The 2 bikes provided are decent beach bikes, adjusting the seat height was a little difficult but that just might be my weak old man hands lol Full-size washer and dryer was very convienant along with an extra huge full-size fridge downstairs to store ice and drinks. All in all we would stay here again! Very nice home! Thank you!!

We had a wonderful stay!! We loved the hammock on the deck, the fenced in back yard, central location, and quiet neighborhood. The space was perfect for our family of 4 + our sweet old lab. Would definitely recommend!

Home away from home

Thank you Josh and Vanessa for another great stay at Float On. Hosts don't come any better than you two. Clean, quiet, and private with room for our dog to roam in a safe and friendly neighborhood. Everything was perfect for our Thanksgiving getaway. Can't wait to get back

Nice, quiet, vacation home

We enjoyed our stay at Float On! The house was very clean and is well kept and maintained. Almost anything you need for your stay is there. Josh was a great host checking on us prior to arrival and during out stay. He also reminded us about check out. The house is in a part of Kill Devil Hills where many year round resident seem to live. The area is quiet and convenient to shops and restaurants. Fiod Lion is a half mile up the street. Getting a parking spot at the beach access is no problem. Glad we came across Float On!

Float on is spot on!

Great house if you are looking for a quiet place away from the crowds. Perfect for a small family or two couples. Float On is convenient to both North and South beaches and a short walk to the Sound to catch beautiful sunsets. A perfect house to come home to after a day at the beach or from venturing to the lighthouses. The owners have taken great pride in providing extra amenities for beach comfort and for a comfy place to relax and enjoy an evening meal with family and friends.

However, our family of four live, learn and work in Norfolk, VA; so we also wanted to open our home to others. Once your are in Kill Devil Hills you are here! One could continue on about proximity to shops, dining and entertainment, but let's look at it another way. KDH's central location is just minutes after leaving the mainland and the car ride is over. You are now in The Outer Banks of North Carolina - Vacation ready! The already mentioned shops and dining are in fact nearby, even better though, you are positioned to explore further south or north with ease.

Float On is at the beach without being, at the beach. Shake off the sand and immerse yourself into a quiet neighborhood. There is a yard for the dog or for the kids to play in. If kayaking or fishing are more your thing, you are just a few minutes walk from The Albemarle Sound. There is even a spacious public boat ramp a few minutes up Bay Drive. Get your feet wet, see the sun set. In this part of The Outer Banks it's more than just about the ocean.
