The Dock Place was warm, inviting and well-appointed. The owners thoughtfully provided for little things, such as toiletries and essential cooking needs. The home is beautifully situated on the creek with a dock. It has the quaint Eastern Shore feel with pine floors in a quiet creekside community.
beautiful property, comfy house, great dock, wonderful views. Heard screech owls on 2 nights (max 4) and great horned owls another (2). Convenient to day trips to Chincoteague NWR, Eastern Shore of VA NWR, and Kiptopeke State Park. A naturalist's dream location. Had issue with grill one night, called owner and he had a man over fixing it inside 30 minutes. Very impressive. 2 notes for cooks: No broiler pan, no large saucepan (though several smaller ones). I had brought larger saucepan, so we were good.
This is a delightful and quiet location on the waterfront of a beautiful little creek. Leave the traffic behind. Pack your favorite provisions and enjoy the kitchen, outside grill and country atmosphere. Still close enough to local restaurants if you want to eat out, but you are on the Eastern Short of Virginia, which means that the hustle and bustle of big city living is nowhere near. A delightful screened front porch and kayaks for exploring the marshes and creeks. Bring a good book. Internet is solid if you need to work or stay in touch. We'll be back.
House was very nice and comfortable in a very quiet area. No criticism of the house or the management, but it was a bit far from where we ended up spending most days, at Chincoteague, but we had a pleasant and relaxing stay. Kayaks on the property for use from the dock were a plus.
If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet property on the water this is the place for you. We enjoyed our stay in the very clean , well furnished home. Each morning I had my coffee on the dock on the "creek" and than used the homes kayaks to go for a paddle. I didn't even see any other boats out on the water. We fished from the dock, but there were jellyfish so we didn't do a lot of swimming. The house is in a very quiet rural area. There were not any restaurants closer than a 15 minute drive. The supermarket is about 10 minutes away. We drove the Cape Charles (about 30 mintues) for a day trip to the bay beach and cute town with restaurants, ice cream etc.
