We had a great stay. The recliner didn't recline. We were also disappointed there was nothing in the condo, like salt/pepper. The carpet needs replaced but someone came to measure for that why we were there. Would stay again! The beach was beautiful.
First impressions outside the property was nice and the view of the ocean is magnificent. Entering the condo, the areas where there was carpet was very dirty and stained, all the chairs at the dining table were cloth and stained. The patio furniture on the balcony was all rusted and the table was so rusted it was unusable. So, just really run down. The stairwell out of the condo.was very dirty, definitely needed powerwashing, The pool had a buildup around the edge where the water meets the tile, that many people had written their name in. The management company was responsive and brought us a coffee pot when ours quit. But they were combative at other times. I don't think I would stay here again. It was very expensive. There were other reviews about the carpet, so that is on me, but Unless they clean better externally and updated the condo. I couldn't recommend it.
The cleanliness wasnât the best what so ever. Bathrooms were full of sand. Found some dark long hair in shower (we are all blondes). Carpet needs replaced, holes in carpet - had to be careful to not step on the tacks in carpet. Very stained as well. This unit is no where near how nice the other units we saw. This unit is over priced especially considering the quality.
Entering unit 303, we noticed the cleanliness just wasnât what it should be. Mold was in the main shower and secondary bath tub & mirrors dirty. 2 family members woke up w/ headaches & noticed rust & mold in & around the AC vents. The tile was sticky & unclean. It looks like itâs been a very long time since the light switches were cleaned. Items that were supposed to be included werenât & multiple times a maintenance man had to enter the unit (maskless) to change AC filters.
For the first time after years of visiting Destin & staying at Crystal Dunes, we learned chair service was not included with unit 303. We had no idea that a unit would not have chair & umbrella service as that had always been included in years past across multiple units at Crystal Dunes ($587 extra). The condo was in terrible, embarrassing condition. The curtain rod above the sliding glass door is rusted and coming out of the wall & the curtain doesnât open or close. The 3 bedroom closets had so much stuff in them, they were difficult to impossible to use as guests. Cabinet drawers and doors have long come apart, light fixtures are cracked and coming down, the carpet is unraveled, wrinkled & has bleach spots. The outdoor furniture was so rusted through, we were scared to sit on it. Both toilets flappers donât work effectively as one toilet runs constantly & the other barely flushes. The first morning we discovered the coffee maker only made cold coffee (it was replaced). Items needed for cooking were sparse. We were unsuccessful in locating the remotes needed to effectively operate the TVâs, so we didnât watch tv. The dishwasher isnât secured within the dishwasher space & falls over when you pull the racks out. The washing machine is so small that it only holds three towels & the dryer has to be run 2-3 times to dry.
We come to Destin annually, & this was by far our worst experience. In years past, we have appreciated the cleanliness of the beach, the location, the beautiful views & the beautiful & clean condos at Crystal Dunes. So many of the people that now make up the clientele were horrific & classless. The guests above us had children that ran throughout the condo from 6 AM until midnight. The 2nd night, a couple was screaming and cussing at 2am, waking our kids. On the balcony, neighbors smoked skunk weed throughout our stay & stunk up our unit when we opened the door.
Due to the rapid decline, we wonât be back to Crystal Dunes.
The location is spectacular on the water! We had better water there in the fall than they did closer to town. I love the distance from town, it was very easy access to amenities, but the beach wasn't too crowded. The unit itself has decent furnishings, but there is a lot that needs improvement. Ripped/stained carpets, old rusty brass light fixtures, old appliances like a dishwasher that barely worked. The management company was easy to call and speak with, but there were far too many issues for one quick stay. Many remotes were missing batteries so we couldn't even watch the TVs in the bedrooms. There was a full drawer of old clothes from the old guests plus stuff laying around. The towel ring in the bathroom fell off the first time we touched it. The dishwasher wouldn't close, so we couldn't run it. The DVD player didn't work. Crystal Dunes itself was fine, the pool was decent but the hot tub was closed for repairs while we were there. Disappointing. I wouldn't stay there again, but for the price compared to other units IN Destin, it was still fine for that quick trip during a school break.
