Fantastic location, great porch and the owner was excellent to work with. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
We had a wonderful vacation at this property. Beautiful ocean views from the porch and that is where we spent most of our time relaxing! Steps to Inkwell Beach and a short walk to town. Nice and quiet for sleeping as well. We will be back!
This house provides the old times MV cottage experience. A stones throw from town and the beach. Immediate access to the bike path and OB ferry, this place is really convenient. Loved it.
We loved our stay at the Pratt House! The location is outstanding- right across from a park and the beach. I loved people watching from the porch every night. We walked to Circuit Ave often and hardly needed our rental car. Greg was an outstanding host- from beginning to end. He was very patient and checked in with us regularly.
The home is perfectly located. morning coffee on the porch watching the wave crash on ink well beach. Evenings preparing meals in the well appointed kitchen or outdoor grill. Games for the kids. Location⊠Location⊠Location. The teens were able to walk to and from Circuit Ave and the basketball ball court with ease. Bedrooms comfortable (air conditioned )⊠beach chairs.. A great property=a fabulous vacation.
A lovely, historic home to stay in for a Martha's Vineyard holiday.
We had a lovely time spending the week at the Pratt House. The pictures don't do it justice. The house is very quaint and pleasant inside. The pictures make it look dark, but it's not. The house is in a great location, just a short walk to town and a very short walk to the Inkwell beach. The Polar Bears congregate in the water at the end of the street. (A must do, by the way!!) The Pratt House is an older home so be aware that it does not have air conditioning. But the house fans help and it does cool down at night. We spent a lot of time on the porch catching the breeze from the ocean and people watching. Greg was a great host. An all around lovely experience. Can't wait to make my way back to Martha's Vineyard next year.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pratt House. The location could not be beat! And the photos online do not do it justice - it's much brighter and has great spaces that are hard to tell online. As you would expect from an 1866 home, there are some quirks, like really small bathrooms, but they are forgotten as you're sipping your drink on the porch looking at the ocean. There were a couple hot days where we missed having AC, but the house fans helped kept it cool enough to sleep. There is a great breeze coming off the ocean that helps. Overall the 5 bedrooms were spacious and functional for our group.
I just loved this home. We picked it up last minute while at a Red Sox game. Having lived on the Vineyard for ten years, I wanted to try something in OB. This house was just a short walk to all the restaurants. We rolled our luggage easily from the ferry to the house. The beach is across the street and it was simply awesome to walk across the street and take a dip without having to pack the car, towels, food, etc. The best part of the home is the front porch. Very comfortable and very cool. ZERO bugs because of the constant ocean breeze. I was initially concerned with the limited bathrooms (2) in this house but as it turned out, we all used the very spacious outdoor shower which was a lot more enjoyable than any indoor shower. If you are looking for immediate walking access to the beach and the restaurants, this house is a must. Built in the 1800's it had a very comfortable feel to it. NO AC but we didn't need it being right next to the ocean, even during a hot week of July. I still miss that huge porch. Lots of people watching and it is covered from the sun all day.
The Pratt House is well maintained and displays the original character of the house with modern amenities. The location can't be beat because of the close proximity to the inkwell and Circuit avenue. Two things stand out that verify this is the right house to rent: 1) We did less driving than usual and 2) the kids never wanted to watch TV because of the great family discussion in the dining room and kitchen! The customer service was also outstanding. I highly recommend this house.
Great house with its original character and history. The upgrades in the kitchen along with each room ceiling fan, great furniture, cleanliness and terrific private outdoor shower made this house very comfortable. I think everyone in our group looked forward to that shower everyday. The kids fought for position in line even thought there were two other bathrooms! We enjoyed the back yard cooking on the grill and eating outside. We spent every night on the large front porch where there was a beautiful ocean breeze. We couldn't of asked for a better location since we had six to eight 12-17 year olds with us who walked to town every night and played football, Frisbee and corn hole across the street in the large park/field. The adults enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk to everything. The location allowed you to be close enough to walk but yet allowed just enough distance to bring quiet and peacefulness when returning to the house.
Greg the owner was pleasant to work with and made sure our stay was carefree and comfortable. I would highly recommend this house for your next vacation! We hope to visit again.
I stayed at Greg's house with several family members (adults and children) this past summer for two weeks. It is a nicely maintained older Victorian cottage. It is as bright and airy as the pictures. Inside there are comfortable living spaces and ample sized bedrooms. Cable and wifi were included. The kitchen is very functional, with newer appliances. There is an outdoor shower which we used after the beach, but also as backup to the two indoor bathrooms.
We barbecued in the back yard a few times and it was convenient to have this option. There is an inviting wraparound porch with a wonderful view of the water, ideal for relaxing on a warm day.
We found the location great for our needs. The Inkwell beach is right across the street. The house is walking distance (about 5 minutes) from Oak Bluffs ferry, in-town Oak Bluffs (10 minutes) , and tennis and basketball courts (5 minutes) , all of which we took advantage of. There is also a large park right across from the house.
Greg was pleasant to deal with, and left us a little welcoming gift. We would definitely rent here again.
We rented this beautiful house for our favorite August week in the vineyard. We have stayed several places in Oak Bluffs, and wanted a place that was "beachy"--clean with character, required minimal driving for most things and was close to the water. This house met all the criteria. Greg, the owner was great and very responsive during the entire process. The house was exactly what I envisioned for a relaxing beach vacation! It is a beautiful older house, but has upgrades in the bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with not only dishware, but spices, cooking tools and paper products. The decor is delightful and tasteful. We had 3 couples and 3 children aged 4-14. The house is set up in a way that was comfortable for everyone. The bedrooms were large and airy, one with a lovely balcony from I drank my coffee and watched the Polar Bear Club in the mornings! We walked to town daily and the beach was across the street. When events occurred in the evenings- Illumination Night, fireworks on the beach- we only had to walk out the door and we were there. I could go on about the house.... we loved it. And Greg was a delight to work with. We spoke several times prior to arriving. On our way up, on a Sunday, Greg called to alert me to a problem with the water heater. The next day while we were at the beach, he had someone come and replace the entire thing. He made sure we were not inconvenienced in any way.
We will definitely stay here on our returns. It was a true pleasure.
We loved staying at this beautiful home. It was right across from an open park where our kids could walk over and play ball, fly kits and run around. Another amazing feature that we enjoyed was the large front porch where we enjoyed watching the ocean, relaxing, reading and watching the children playing in the park right out front. We liked that we could easily walk to the Inkwell beach, come back and enjoy the awesome outdoor shower. We could also walk to Oak Bluffs center in minutes and ride our bikes to almost anywhere on the island. We have been blessed with the opportunity to stay on Marthaâs Vineyard many times. The location of this house was by far the best one that we have ever stayed.
We got exactly what we wanted, a summer vacation in a real summer home - cool air from the ocean across the street, a lot of light, windows and doors. We invited family up during our stay and they were able to come and enjoy without worrying about bringing a car over. It is so close to everything, even walking distance from the ferry. This location can't be beat. The porch and the view are worth the price of admission.
My annual relax at the beach was lovely as usual. The sea air and sounds made for the best sleep, also the beds were great. The best situated porch in Oak Bluffs made me LAZY in a good way! The house is very comfortable, charming, and the location is remarkable. I had my morning coffee on the quaint upstairs lookout porch and it was a postcard view. Can't wait til next year.
