This cute open concept home is great for gathering, relaxing, and making memories. Stroll just a few minutes to the white sugar sand beach, or take the complimentary golf cart to further beach access points and some of the best shelling you've ever experienced, jog for miles in the nature preserve, dine at the few local restaurants (Mainstays, the Boathouse, Over the Waterfront, Mangos at the Pool), or just tour this remote slice of paradise. Return to the house for a BBQ and more relaxation while avoiding the bugs in the screened in porch.
This island is only accessible by boat, ferry, or private plane. Once on the island, golf carts, bikes and walking are the modes of transportation. You can park at the ferry and take the short ferry ride over to North Captiva. Grocery shopping is recommended prior to coming to the island. You can pick up groceries on your way, or we do have grocery services that will pick up and stock the house with your groceries prior to your arrival for a fee.
If you are familiar with the island, it is on the north end, near the private airstrip. Public beach and bay access is at the end of the each side of the airstrip and this is the safest beach area on the island. You can also access the beach at other areas of the island, using the complimentary 4 person golf cart. Please note, there is no cost to use the golf cart. In the event of mechanical golf cart failure of any kind, it may not be able to be fixed during your stay and no compensation will be provided. Additional carts can be rented through Boats and Fun.
North Captiva Island Club is offered with this rental (2 pools, jacuzzi, tennis, bikes, kayaks). 2 exterior cameras are installed to monitor golf cart parking and the exterior of the front door.

This was our first time on North Captiva and we had a wonderful week at the Blue Pearl! The house is well maintained and the kitchen had everything we needed to feel at home. We had three kids under 12 and four adults and everyone was comfortable. The kids had so much fun riding around on the golf cart and swimming in the club pool. The owner responded quickly to messages and made sure we had all the codes we needed to check out kayaks. The property manager Raj was excellent and made the arrival and check in process seamless. He made sure we knew which ferry to take, had recommendations for grocery service, gave us a tour of the island so we knew where everything was, and pointed out where the manatees like to hang out (the kids were so excited!). I really cannot say enough good things about our stay and we can't wait to come back!!

Older but Well Maintained

This home is older but has been well maintained. Property offers an open floor plan, ample sized bedrooms, hot tub and is located only a few minutes away from the Beach. The Owners and Property Manager went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and were always available by phone. Internet service was limited but we were still able to watch Netflix and get some work completed on our laptops. Overall, we were very happy with the property and our experience.

Sweet little island getaway

Easy check-in and -out, super organized pickup at the ferry. The house itself is well maintained. All fabrics (towels, bedspreads, curtains) are new and tasteful. The kitchen was well equipped for our group of 6. We were at the pool several times, and also used the kayaks from the Island Club free of charge. It was very convenient to use the golf cart for little ways, or to explore the island. Super nice homeowners, always available. Thank you Tiffany for having us!

Island life

My stay was lovely. Things still are being worked on due to hurricane. No restaurants except pool bar open while we were there. Market not opened. Fish market just happened to be closed while we were there. Hot tub and wifi not working! House fine! Red tide meant dead fish and no swimming in ocean! But island folks wonderful, sunsets awesome, manatees in Bay, osprey nesting! Lots of shelling! So it truly was a great trip!

The property appeared to be in the middle of being updated. Once updates are completed it will be a nice property. General cleanliness of house and property while not poor, lacked attention to detail. Access road to the property (Mourning Dove) was not well maintained; brush over hanging road and enormous holes that flooded when it rained. Be sure to bring bug spray for gnats and “no see ums” and apply frequently; the island bugs can be voracious. Overall island experience was wonderful with abundance of friendly folks.

Thanks for your honest review and feedback, Bryan and while a 3 star review is unacceptable to me, I will use it to improve our next guest’s experience. We are constantly updating the property. Sometimes we start something that we can’t get finished in the time we have between renters, as in the case of the ceiling and appliances being switched out. While we aren’t responsible for road maintenance, we are working with NCIC and our neighbors to pay additional money to get the road raised and leveled. I have forwarded the review to my property manager so she can address the cleaning issue, as this is the first we have heard of it. I hope you enjoy your next trip to island.

Post Holiday Retreat

We recently stayed at the Blue Pearl. It was exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I just wanted a clean quiet place where we could shell, fish and read. This was the perfect escape. We had never been to North Captiva before. While the property met all of our needs, including awesome owners who let us bring our 2 cats, the island itself still has a long way to go in recovering from Hurricane Ian. I cannot imagine having to ferry everything over and then not being close by while work is being done, but owners seem to look out for each other and make things happen. We were under the impression from other reviews there would be more restaurants open, or at least open later. When we got to the island we discovered the more upscale restaurant was only open on Friday and Saturday and the club restaurant closed at 5:30. It’s our fault for not asking more questions before we arrived, but take it into consideration when planning what food/alcohol you might want to bring with you. We cannot say enough good things about Ed and Jennifer who met us at the dock. They were super nice and took time to show us around the island they also invited us to meet up with them and their friends in the evening to watch sunsets. Jennifer also pointed me in the direction of some good shelling spots. The property was immaculately clean when we arrived.

We have all been anxiously awaiting a restaurant at the old Mainstays location to open, as well as the club’s Boathouse. The latest Mangos menu has hours until 7pm, but they do regularly change their hours of operation. I hope you come back to North Captiva in a future year and see the progress and we would love to host you again.

Celebration getaway

My sister was getting married on the island! The blue pearl was a great choice for my family vacation… only blocks from my sisters house and the beach! We had some issues with the golf cart, Becca the house manager was so quick to answer and troubleshoot to fix the issue. We really enjoyed our stay! Thanks Tiffany!

Melissa, since our golf cart was broken prior to your stay, we allowed you to use our personal brand new side by side. I was surprised to hear the battery ran out on the side by side, as it actually has an indicator on the dash to tell you the battery life left. When it was low (I think 3 days into your trip), it should have been plugged in. A full charge lasts up to 40 miles, unlike a golf cart that only lasts a few hours of driving, at most. I did ask my property manager to go over the side by side with you, so sorry, if she didn't explain how to look at the gauge and plug in the side by side when the battery was low. Glad the rest of your trip and the house was great.

We love the slow and easy pace on North Captiva Island. We enjoy walking through the state wildlife park, sitting by the beach, playing tennis or swimming at the North Captiva Island Club, or an occasional visit to the local island restaurants.
We have 6 children as well as young grandchildren and we love to travel.
