This is a nice small 2 bedroom cabin in Utopia. It is tucked away on County Road 355. It is just a half of a mile from main street Utopia. The Sabinal River runs though Utopia. So you can enjoy the Utopia Park Lake that has a dam with plenty of water to swim in and fish year round. Utopia is also 15 minutes from Garner state park and the Frio river. It is also just a 15 minute drive to Lost maples State park in Vanderpool. Come stay in this comfortable cabin and enjoy all there is to do in the hill country.
We enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is extremely clean and came with all the needed amenities. The back patio is very nice and the grill is fairly new. Being only a fifteen minute drive to Garner state park made it very convenient. We would definitely stay here again.
Spent the long 4th of July weekend with friends in a quite spot in Utopia. Great location to take trips through the hill country. Nice well equipped cabin. We saw deer each morning along with the local goats, golden retrievers, and farm cats. Great place to spend a few days with friends or family.
Really peaceful property. The welcoming committee is the 2 beautiful, super friendly golden retrievers and the cat. Our hosts were fantastic. Took care of all our needs. The cabin was super comfortable and very accessible to Garner State Park and Lost Maples State Park. Would definitely stay here again!
Clean and spacious property with plenty of space to hammock. Provided fire wood and 2 very cute golden retrievers who kept us company. Clean inside and neat house. Very good diner, Los maples diner, near by which was 3 min away and we went to a few times. Overall, fair price for what you get.
We had a great time. Garner state park is close by and we went to swim in the Frio river after cycling all morning. Short 20 minute drive away. 15 minutes away from Lost Maples. The house was as described and even had a family of deer walk by in the morning. The house was very clean and can tell it is fairly new or recently renovated. Had all the amenities we needed. Would definitely stay again.
Cute little cabin! You are on the same property as the home owners, and their house is kinda visible, but definitely in its own area.
Two entrances to the cabin, one is a access to the house and the next one is a entrance closer to the cabin, which should be marked.
The owners have animals, and I was highly disappointed the dogs left the cabin to go say hi to them when they got home. When we rent the cabin, I expect the welcoming committee đ maybe frame some pictures of the animals with their names for the cabin? Definitely a fun time! Great included grill, natural fire pit and deck.
We enjoy our weekend at Deer Run Cabin. The property along with the town seemed quite and safe. Prefect for relaxing. About a 30 minute drive to Lost Maples Park.
The cabin had everything that we needed and the check-in/out could not have been simpler. We were there for Thanksgiving and to do some hiking in Lost Maples.
Our only issue with the property is that there was a very strong odor in the home. It was even stronger in the bathroom (like septic or sewer). When we entered the home the smell was immediately apparent, but all of the ceiling fans were on, so we were hopeful that the issue had been remedied and that the smell would dissipate. When the odor was still present the next morning, we contacted the hosts. They said they would check it out. That was a week ago and we have not heard back, even after a follow up message was sent to the host. I am so reluctant to leave negative information, but if this issue isn't something that can be remedied, I cannot in good faith recommend this property to others. If it is fixed, I would absolutely recommend it. Since I didn't see any other reviews mention an odor, I am hopeful that it was an event, and not an ongoing issue.
My family had a great time at the cabin. I loved having morning coffee on the back porch and also loved ending the nights, in the front, looking at all the stars. Day #1, we went to Utopia Park, which is a super close nice park with easy access to the Sabinal. Day #2 we went to Garner State Park. For dinner we went to Lost Maples Cafe and had chicken fried steak which was delicious. The second night for dinner we bbqâed out front. My husband loved the pit, actually wants to order one for our house! đ on our way out we stopped at Postal Brews, had a scone and a great Americano. Everyone was super friendly, at the park, the restaurants, and the host was great! I would also like to add we did not see a scorpion during our stay. The two Goldens and the cat were all welcomed guest! Would 100% recommend!
This was ideal for us to make ax meal or two in and sleep. We spent our time at local parks during the day so ut was perfect to come back to a clean, no ruffles, adequate space- that was pet friendly.
For some reason we thought it will be further from road and other houses. Had 2 golden retrievers and a black cat to joined us for whole time we been there.
Interior is nice, owners communicate fast
Loved the cabin had all the amenities we needed. Feels like you are out in the woods but right beware town. Peaceful clean and perfect. Will definitely stay again !!
