Proximity to all amenities, including grocery stores, general shopping, beach, lidos, bars, cafes, restaurants and churches. Scalea is a quaint beachside town in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy. Scalea is approx. 2.5 hours from Naples via the fast train and approximately 5 hours via fast train from Rome. The town derives its name from its hillside terraced lay-out and is located at the bottom of the Capo Scalea promontory. With a population of 11,000 people (off season), Scalea offers true relaxation with excellent year round climate (t-shirts and shorts in December). Enjoy swimming in the warm Tyrrhenian Sea followed by eating the freshest produce served by local restaurants. The local wine is outstanding (and so incredibly inexpensive). When you're ready to adventure out, sights include Spiaggia dell'Arcomagno, Island Dino, Torre Talao, the Castello Normano, the Chiesa Santa Maria d'Episcopio, the Grotta del Leone, the Grotta Azzurra, Cave of the Sheep and, for super adventurous types, try the LaoRaft Scalea (for white water rafting). Pompeii is a 2 hour drive and a fun day trip.
We hope you enjoy this little slice of heaven as much as we do!
