Family vacation

Good stay. Host was excellent in communication with recommendations on where to eat, where to go, what to do, etc. Enjoyed the local atmosphere in eateries and beaches. Check-in process was seamless.At one point, thought we may have to go and our host was super understanding, willing to reimburse for unused nights, and very generous.Would definitely stay here again.

Great stay!

My friend and I enjoyed the property and the private beach. I would love to stay here again when I return to Puerto Rico. I highly recommend this place. Not only is it affordable, but it is so comfortable. It's like a home away from home, for sure.

The advertisement was misleading. The community pools are in need of a redo. While it’s a beachfront residential complex it’s not a recommended bathing beach and not enough beachfront to sunbath.

Good morning Maria so sorry to hear about your pools concerns, actually the one close to the was renovated in January is the one showed in the main photo and the other one at the club area will be fix for leaking and renovations started two days ago, the guest that check in the same day you check out left a 10/10 review emphasizing access to pool and beach!!

The location of this property is not too far from San Juan and convenient to several beaches. It does have a small private beach, best for evening ocean watching vs. a beach day. The pools were heated and the kids enjoyed the tennis courts. This complex is clean however it's showing it's age. As far as the unit goes it was okay. The listing says each room has A/C, however that only means the bedrooms have A/C, the rest of the unit only has a ceiling fan. We asked for another fan (there was a small personal one in the closet) and we left the bedroom doors open while we were out and closed all the blinds and storm shutters to keep the sun out and pointed the fans toward the common areas to help keep it cool during the day so I was not miserable when we returned in the evenings. The master bedrooms bed is very uncomfortable and extremely low to the ground. I think the bed was once higher but may have broke and now the mattress is inside the frame. I'm really short and still found it difficult to get in and out of. The unit is showing it's age, several places on the walls are missing plaster or paint. And the kitchen cabinets are peeling. The stove no longer has numbers on the dials so cooking is trial and error and the toaster oven is in about the same condition. Pans are stored in the oven so beware preheating without checking first. And they did not have any hand towels or rags for cleaning up. The unit was affordable for the week, just don't expect too much.
Dinning Area, the legs of this table look like they have had serious water damage.
Back Balcony, this does not look at the ocean, but you might get to see Iguana's
Small kitchen, it worked for small meals, it does not have a regular toaster, just a toaster oven that didn't work that great.
The stove knobs no longer have numbers, it's a guessing game as to the temp.

Easy Breezy

From beginning to end everything went extremely smoothly. I felt very safe in the gated community and the private beach was an amazing bonus. My only suggestions are i had a little trouble with the gates at the pool as the beach the key was new but the locks a bit weathered. The blankets in the master should be replaced it was a bit uncomfortable...otherwise the owners were always available via text. There are plentyof local eats and grocery stores. Great location right between the city and the rainforest. Will definitely return.

Spacious, Relaxing, and Accommodating!

I traveled with my husband and 15-year old sister. The apartment was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. This is a great value given the space and all of the extras that you would not get at a hotel (kitchen, 2 balconies, organized closet space, washer and dryer, etc.) Angel and Mariam were very accommodating. They answered my e-mails promptly and met me at the car rental to give me the keys to the apartment. I was initially a little nervous about renting an apartment from a website that I was not familiar with, but I'm glad that I made the decision to go ahead with it. We absolutely loved the beach! It was a great place to swim and take pictures. We felt like we had our own private beach. Way better than going to the beach in front of your hotel! Great location. Not far from a number of attractions like el Yunque rainforest, last paylas, and sites for snorkeling. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone considering a visit to this area.

GREAT GETAWAY

what an awesome experience this was, even though i was a bit worried renting a condo i def. was wrong. Starting with the owners especially Angel from the time he met us at the car rental place he waited for us, we had a problem with renting he took us to a different place, all along his ears were getting tortured by my loud two year old and we followed him all the way to the condo which was secured, gated, very clean and well maintained landscape. the condo was very well equipped and not far away from any major attractions. Shopping 15 min, bakery with fresh bread 5 min, San Juan 25 min, luquillo beach one of my favorites 20 min, fajardo 30 min to take the fairy to small islands. The condo had two beautiful pools that my kid and wife loved and the beach was secluded and most of the time it was only you. In the condo which was very well organized with two balconies two bed and two bath, full kitchen with everything you need to prepare. Very well worth it it changed the way i go to vacations from now on Thank you Angel and Mariam

Wonderful beach location!

Having never been to PR before, we were unsure of where to stay or where this condo actually was. We couldn't have been more pleased with it. It is located in the small town of Loiza, not touristy, very local. However, others reviewed the area as 'sketchy", I would call it 'locals'. The condo is in a gated community with many amenities and access to the private beach. We never felt unsafe and actually enjoyed being around the locals during their holiday weekend and getting a flavor of the area. The condo itself was perfectly set up and it was wonderful having 2 bathrooms for a 2 bedroom condo. It is equipped with everything you need inside as well as beach accessories. Angel was kind enough to have a basketball for my boys to use on the courts....very nice of him! The location of the condo is great to access El Yunque Rain forest as well as other attractions nearby and an easy drive to San Juan. You do need a car while you are here and driving is not dissimilar to the US. Easy to read signs and we had no difficulty getting around. There is a Super WalMart nearby for groceries as well as restaurants. I can't say enough good things about the place. Beautiful beaches, no one around, clean, very nice locals! Thanks so much for making our stay so wonderful!

The host was very good and always quick to respond, the facility and apartment, not so nice. Very old place in dire need of updates. No AC in the living space, only the bedrooms. To me, this was not clearly listed in the listing. Mild on the shower curtain in the master bathroom. No towels in the kitchen upon arrival. No washcloths, hand towels or bath mats in the bathrooms upon arrival. Requested them but didn’t get what we requested. Noisy area. About 5-7 min walk to beach.

Kathleen so sorry to hear this but your are missing information, the list mention that AC is only in the rooms. next day at your request we personally deliver hand towels and bath rugs ( I discuss this with my maid) when we arrive you had the AC of the room turn on with door open which could potential damage both AC since capacity is only for the room, you request fan which were use to improve AC circulation in the living area which shouldn't be done. Important to read the listing before booking, photos shows exactly what the apartment offers.

Great price! Just like the description & pictures.

Our hosts Mariam and Angel were very nice every time I spoke with them. I would definitely rent with them again. The condo is clean with all the amenities you need. The resort felt safe with security guards and locking gates surrounding. The best part was the beach access just a short walk from the building. This was my first visit to Puerto Rico, and those beaches are beautiful. The resort isn't particularly close to many things, but it isn't too difficult to get to and from major attractions. We went into San Juan regularly, and it was nice to come back to a quiet place to spend our evenings and mornings.

Looking forward to our next stay

Overall we were quite impressed with our stay there. I am from Puerto Rico and now that I live far away, we just go back on short vacations to visit family and I must say I have never stayed at a place in Puerto Rico that has actually been quiet and calm both day and night until now. Very pleased.

clean and comfortable- nice pool and private beach

The owner not only met me at the car rental place, but also let us follow him to the apartment. The owners could not have been nicer or more accomodating. On check out day, they just asked that we let them know when we were leaving- there was not a specific time we needed to be out. The apartment is comfortable and clean. All the basics are there so that you can just get groceries and then it is like you are at home. We really liked the 2 balconies- you just open the doors and you have a great breeze going through. The location is good and not good- you are close to San Juan, Fajardo, and El Yunque Rainforest. Loiza itself doesn't have much for restaurants or anything, and there isn't really anyplace to walk to. However, you are really close to the main highways, and it is pretty easy to figure out the how to get to the major areas. If you are looking for a wild time, this probably isn't the place to stay. If you are looking for posh and fancy, this probably isn't for you, either. We were traveling with a child, and really just wanted to relax, and so this was just fine for us. If you are staying here, you do need to rent a car. We went to the beach every day, and probably saw a total of 10 other people. We loved that. The pool areas are nice.

Very relaxing apartment

The good: Airy, roomy, well furnished with amenities, towels, beach toys. Clean .Great whirlpool and pool was decent. Very calm in property (gated). Felt Safe. Not a lot of tourists in the area so we felt part of the the community. The price. Very relaxing being in the apartment. The bad: Not a lot to do in the area. Had to drive everywhere. The surrounding area is depressed.

Well Worth It!

I can highly recommend this apartment at Villas del Mar in Loiza. Mariam and Angel, the owners, were very accommodating. Angel met us at the car rental agency to give us the keys and actually drove ahead us for a few kilometres to get on the proper road. Mariam was excellent about communicating via e-mails. The apartment itself is attractive and well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed including things such as oil, detergent, salt, etc that we only used a bit of and that buying a whole package would have been a waste. The rooms are nice. The beds were comfortable and having two washrooms was a bonus. Ample towels were provided and there is a washing machine/dryer for your use. There is a TV with many channels in both Spanish and English. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms but if you leave the doors open in the morning and night, the temperature throughout the apartments is fine. The complex is safe. There is a security guard and the complex is fenced. There are two pools, tennis courts and an excellent beach right beside the complex. There were landscapers and cleaners constantly working outside. A car is necessary. For groceries, you are about 15-20 minutes away from a Wal Mart Superstore and a Ralph's grocery store. Outlet malls and other shopping can be found with a 20 minute drive. We have just returned and the pictures are making me wistful. It is a great place that is offered for a reasonable price.

nice quiet complex, close to alot of local eateries. if u want to feel like a local and not a tourist you should definetly stay here. i loved it and will return soon. thanks mariam and angel for you hospitality.
