Upon arrival the house was spotless and smelled fresh and clean. Views from the upper bedroom and living area were breathtaking as there is a short walk to the beach. Quiet neighborhood even though they were working on the house next door, they were respectful. Inside furniture was very comfortable and lots of places to sit and enjoy the view of the water inside and out. 3 showers inside and 2 outside with great pressure and we never ran out of hot water. Everything was perfect and if there was another way to get there besides Rt. 95, we would definitely be back. Traffic was terrible but I guess that's the normal for the Outer Banks. Had a wonderful time and so did our 2 Boston Terriers.
Wonderful house with great views of the ocean. The beach is nice and wide. We saw several deer in the dune behind the house. We liked the small table in the middle of the main floor for games.
This house was just lovely, we enjoyed the beautiful views and comfortable layout. It was perfect for our family. Having direct access to the beach was just wonderful.
We absolutely loved our stay!! The house is great, with beautiful views!! The king bed is very hard, and we didn't get good rest. A new mattress is the only thing this home needs, everything else was great, and we look forward to our next trip down!!
The house was in great condition and very clean. For being a dog friendly house, there was no dog smell or hair on the furniture.
The kitchen is surprisingly well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The refrigerator also has a water filter and an in-door water and ice machine. In our years past visits, we have had to have a supply of bottled water on-hand as water straight from the tap does not taste the greatest. Having the water filter in the fridge was a nice bonus! There is also a closet with shelves right next to the kitchen that we used as a pantry. The one thing the kitchen does not provide is towels.
There are individual thermostats on each floor of the house which made temperature control easy. There are ceiling fans in the kitchen, living room and 3rd floor bedroom. However, there are none in the three downstairs bedrooms which became a bit stuffy. That, however, may have just been a personal preference.
We knew there was a park-style BBQ grill, but were pleasantly surprised to see it also had a cover, which was helpful when grilling.
The house is supplied with one bath towel and one wash cloth per guest. Each bathroom is also supplied with two rolls of toilet paper. Plan accordingly if you think you may need/use more towels or toilet paper. The 3rd floor bathroom has a walk-in shower and separate soaker/jetted tub; the two bathrooms on the 1st floor have combo tub/showers. There is also an outdoor shower (with hot & cold). Even with all three showers being used at the same time, we never ran out of hot water.
There are wonderful unobstructed views of the ocean from the 3rd floor bedroom, dining & living rooms with the only thing between the house and the beach being the sand dunes! There is a sand walking path from the house to the beach. The house also was supplied with two bodyboards, which was a nice surprise.
There is plenty of room to sit in the living room (two couches, a chair & ottoman) along with 4 cushioned swivel chairs between the living room and dining room. There is seating for 8 at the dining room table along with 6 bar stools at the kitchen island. The TV has surround sound with speakers in the living room and dining room. We brought a Roku with us and had no issues with TV connectivity or wifi.
This house worked out great for our family and two dogs! Staying in Avon has definitely become our preferred location as it is not as busy (beach, shops and traffic) as the northern areas but still has plenty of stores & restaurants.
***What we should have brought*** Hand soap for the bathrooms & kitchen towels. For the things we did forget, there is a Food Lion 2 miles from the house where we could easily buy the things the house did not have that we needed.
This house is oceanfront and very easy access to the beach. It is near stores and shops which makes it convenient. The house is "older" but comfortable. We loved the living area and ability to all sit comfortably and the view was perfect. Local Guest SErvices took care immediately of a few minor issues with house when we checked in. We will definitely come back here
Great location and well furnished house but... see below
1. Upon arrival at 4 pm, 4/2/22, we found the place was not touched between rentals. It took four different calls to 3 different phone numbers to get an emergency cleaning team to show up. We cleaned the refrigerator/freezer ourselves so that our food did not go bad.
2.We got locked out of the house two days after arrival because the coded lock system had a dead battery. Help arrived in the form of Ice, a gentleman from North Macedonia who replaced the battery, fixed the dishwasher, brought us a loaner vacuum cleaner and painted a white line to highlight a hazard on an outside walkway. I also showed Ice the location where feral pigeons had moved in the house ceiling because of a missing soffit. Ice was very professional and refused to take a tip from me say that he was doing his job.
To summarize, great place but not so great rental management.
The location of the house is ideal, offering direct access to the ocean. The house was clean, the kitchen well-equipped, and the bedrooms comfortable. However, the living room sofas could use a good cleaning. The outdoor table on the patio should be larger to accommodate the number of people likely to stay there. Additionally, some patio chairs were damaged.During our stay, we were greatly inconvenienced by major construction work on the neighboring house. Despite this, we still had a pleasant stay.
The pictures are deceiving. This property needs a lot of TLC and could use some updating. First we were told via email that check-in was 4p but when we arrived into town in the pouring rain we received a text that the house would not be ready until 6p. This started off the stay on the wrong foot. Overall the house was tidy but there was a good amount of black mold (HVAC vents, ceiling, etc.) and dirty filters, and having a high mold allergy, I knew what to expect for the week. Being a Property Manager for 23 years I would not represent this property (if in fact it is the owners that refuse to repair and maintain it). Needless to say the doors and windows remained open for the duration of our stay. The attention to detail was lacking. The master bath had a TP holder on the wall but no spring loaded tube to hold the TP (you know you can buy one at the Dollar store). The hot tub did not function properly (likely the age) and was a bacteria pool. Also having one of these at home, I know the need for balanced chemicals and the health hazards if not properly maintained. The view and beach access was spectacular and that made it bearable. The master bed was not comfortable and we ended up sleeping on the couches in the living room. This could be an amazing high-income rental if the owner invested a bit to bring it up to date. It was quiet and had all the basic essentials we needed. I liked that they provided linens and towels and first rental I have ever had that provided TP!
Very large and open house! Location, amenities and layout met all our expectations and needs. Upon check-in, Vacasa requested input on the cleanliness of the house. So immediately I went into inspection mode which is why I gave this house a 4. Dog hair was left on furniture, carpet has stains, and floors need to be mopped. I spilled water on the floor and wiped it up with a paper towel and alot of dirt came up with it. Maintenance needs to be done on the dishwasher as it is not cleaning dishes properly. Hot tub jets are at low pressure. Sliding doors need to be adjusted as some slide freely and others are stuck. Sliding door screen needs repair. Master bedroom drapery has mold at the bottom. All ceiling fans need proper cleaning. The vents need cleaning as they appear to be moldy or rusty. Impressed with the central vacuum! Will definitely stay here again because amenities and location are perfect! Plus, Deer walk on the sand dunes each morning!
We just returned from our 4th stay at Kenmare. We love its location, just a short walk to a quiet beach. The three story house offers a large living area on the top floor with room for any size family. The master suite on the third level offers a magnificent view from a private deck. The first floor has three bedrooms as well as two baths and a laundry room. We could not ask for more. The kitchen is well equipped and hosts a new oven and microwave this year. A wonderful deck across the back of the living area provided plenty of space for our family and dog.
The beach is gorgeous in this part of Avon. The home is well laid out for group time on the main level & has an awesome master suite on the third level. The negatives are poor quality bedding/ furniture in 2 of the lower bedrooms. Needs updating, but a comfortable house overall.
we have been vacationing in the outer banks for over 15 years. this house was unpretentious and functionally perfect for our small family and two small doodles. it was however overpriced for numerous reasons: medium-worn finish, age of facilities (hot tub, showers), had about 6 encounters with giant flying roaches ('palmetto bugs'), very slim accessories (pots, pans, utensils, games, etc). no beach chairs. no hammock. deck furniture is worn pvc, thus not comfortable. recommend at least two adirondack chairs or something comfortable at this price point. central audio is ancient no
bluetooth audio. who brings cd's or listens exclusively to i heart radio?
we were provided toilet paper, hand soap and washing machine soap which was greatly appreciated.
nice home, but in a 'normal market' this home should rent for about 25-30% less.
This house feels like home. The setup, on three floors, works well for our little family. There is space for together time with space for adults upstairs and young ones downstairs. The huge deck on the living level provides an immense space to relax and ocean watch. We just reserved this house for our fourth stay, in 2022.
