Private, secluded paradise! Spectacular rushing mountain stream! Abundant rhododendrons and ferns, and a small pond. Eleanor Roosevelt roses grow wild! Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and nestled in 10.5 acres of wooded paradise just 4 miles from Groundhog Mountain, 14 miles from famous Mabry Mill and 18 miles from Chateau Morrisette winery, and "Mayberry" Mt. Airy, NC. The Cabin sleeps 6 and is a perfect getaway for your family or romantic time away. OPEN YEAR ROUND VERY STEEP DRIVEWAY MUST HAVE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE OR YOUR VEHICLE WILL GET STUCK.
We really enjoyed our stay. Expecially the screened in porch. Spent most of our time on the screened in porch and down by the creek. Would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was very secluded which we really liked. We were glad that the owner noted to drive a four-wheel vehicle. The porch was wonderful. Beautiful wood rockers!! We found the lighting in the main room too low for reading and playing games. The overhead light, way up in the ceiling, was missing two lights. There was a lot of dust on the steps and along the walls that a little swiffering could have handled. The water did keep cutting out on us leaving us standing in the shower soapy with no water to rinse. The water would come back on after a few seconds, but during one shower, it cut off four times. Not sure what was causing that.
This is a beautiful cabin tucked away in the Virginia mountains just a few short miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The rushing creek out front is mesmerizing but you truly will need a 4 wheel drive to get back up the driveway! The private mountain setting is perfect and the host provided ample firewood for the fire pit or the indoor wood stove. While there were a couple of essentials missing, the cabin was a cozy place for a getaway. I had no cell reception there but the Wifi worked and I was able to use it for outside communication. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home for anyone looking to have a secluded mountain getaway.
I surprised my husband for his birthday with a get-away! The host was quick to respond to our questions and was very accommodating. The cabin was very comfortable and we enjoyed every moment of our stay! The seclusion was welcomed and the rushing water cascading over the rocks was simply therapeutic and seemingly washed any outside distractions away. We hope to return!
Amazing location close enough to get what u need or want to see. Then go back to cabin and hear nothing but the stream and nature. I loved the property and if I'm out that way again will definitely stay there again
This was a great place to stay for a vacation quiet and peaceful and isolated which was perfect to get away From friends and some family thank you for the opportunity
Beautiful property in a secluded setting was just what we were looking for. We thoroughly enjoyed the screened porch and had breakfast there each morning and spend our evenings there as well. We dined at Maples at Olde Mill which was close by. We also went to Primland to shoot sporting clays and enjoyed an early dinner at The 19th Pub. Very nice property!
The three of us stayed at this property in order to attend FloydFest (an annual music festival). While the trek to the festival site was a little longer than I desired, I comprehended the distance at the front end. So enjoyed the drive to and fro---thought I was on my own personal driving route! And, spending time on the screened-in porch letting the sounds of the rushing creek wash over me....just wonderful.
As stated, you will definitely need 4x4 to stay at this property. We did so it wasn't an issue at all. Everything was super clean upon arrival and instructions on how to get in were very clear. My husband and I booked the weekend for Valentine's Day and we weren't disappointed at all. We stayed in all day Saturday and loved every minute. We enjoyed the views, and listening to the creek. We played cards and watched Netflix and just enjoyed time together. Even though it was raining we took a small walk on a path near the fireplace outside and followed the creek and the scenery was breathtaking. The owner was extremely accommodating and very easy to get in contact with when needed. We cannot wait to come back and hopefully will during warmer weather and even bring the kids next time.
