Our stay was amazing, we love the location, the hosts were super helpful and even took us out on a super memorable boat ride that my daughter loved! My only wish is we could have stayed longer!
Deer Track is really a perfect spot for a couple. My wife and I truly enjoyed our week. The location is centrally located to everything that MDI has to offer. The view from the deck is out of this world (I really don't think photos do it justice). Maria was so friendly and accomodating...thank you!
My wife and I had an amazing week at Deer Track. The location is perfect, close enough to Bar Harbor for shopping and restaurants, but far enough away to be peaceful. We were treated to amazing sunrises, bountiful deer and wildlife and beautiful vistas. The cabin has everything two people could need, is well appointed and immaculate. Weâve already booked our return trip to this idyllic cabin for next year. Thanks, Mimi and Rick! We can hardly wait to return.
It was exactly what we expected. Cozy large junior suite type accommodations with fine deck and small kitchen to cook. The only items I think could be improved are outdoor furniture which was a bit hard and uncomfortable and maybe a sponge and dish soap since cleaners must have forgotten to replace them
This immaculate, charmingly decorated cabin is better than its pictures. Waterfront deck (saw porpoises our last day!), fireplace with wood supplied, outdoor fire pit, use of kayaks, amazing views from the cottage, even from the bed! It was hard leaving every morning to explore the beauty of Mount Desert Isle, and coming back was always a pleasure. The location is ideal, just far enough into the "Quietside" to be peaceful, but Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are a pretty 20 minutes drive away, and cute Southwest Harbor about 5. I can't say enough about what a lovely place this is, I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else.
Great location. Comfortable bed and linens. Good water pressure. Amazing deck. Hosts were easy to work with, accommodating and went the extra mile. 10/10 would return.
* bring a dish scrubbie, extra trash bags, and your own kitchen staples.
Peaceful and beautiful. It's a great little cabin, perfect for a couple, with a very comfortable king-size bed. We had our two pups with us and they loved it! We have traveled a lot and rented many homes, but Mimi and Rick are easily the most gracious and responsive people we've ever worked with. Can't wait to return next year!!!
This cottage is perfect in every wayâŠgood location, great view and wonderful owners. Everything you need is in this cottage. We would go out and explore in the morning and hurry back to the cottage to spend time on the deck. The owners took us on an evening boat ride, which made our trip even more special. This place comes with very high recommendations.
We absolutely loved our stay in Hall Quarry. The property, hosts, and view were all wonderful. Loved the boat ride to get to know Mimi and Rick and the other cottage guests.
This property and the hosts are amazing. The location is central to many hikes and boating (we paddleboarded) on the sound is wonderful on a calm day. Though the space here is minimal (the shower would be hard to manage if you are tall), it is clean and has everything you could want in it to enjoy your week. The view and deck are the jewels here, though. Be prepared to wake up in the morning to beauty beyond belief. We did yoga on the deck every morning to start our days out right. The hosts are amazing and kind, and took us on a boat ride where we saw porpoises, seals, and a bald eagle. If you have the chance to stay here, don't hesitate! you won't regret it.
A real hidden paradise on the quieter side of Mt Desert island (to stay away from the crowds of tourists in Bar Harbor). The cabin is really cozy for 2 people and has one of the best deck/view situations you can imagine!
Host was really kind and helpful.
Best hiking we did was just 5 mins away on Acadia/St Saveur mountains; the vistas are breathtaking.
Would go back in a heartbeat; thanks for looking after us!
Wish I Had a Time Machine So I Could Keep Going Back to This Week
This place really is special. The cottage is adorable and feels much bigger than it is, thanks to the enormous deck which looks out onto Somes Sound and the mountains beyond. (FYI: The pictures are lovely but don't do it justice.) Mimi and Rick are incredible hosts, and you're basically in the geographic center of MDI.
Our only hesitation in booking this place was because we typically try to stay within walking distance of restaurants and shops and Deer Track is in a (very) quiet, more or less residential area. But it's less than 10 minutes to Southwest Harbor and just 20-30 minutes to Bar Harbor, and anyway, it was tough to pull ourselves away from that deck and view.
The best HomeAway decision we ever made. Do yourself a favor and book this.
My wife and I stayed at Deer Track on an anniversary trip. Close to everything on Mount Desert Island. Peaceful setting overlooking Somes Sound. We saw deer every night, watched the sunrise and made camp fires in the outdoor fire pit. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we come back to the area!
Loved it! Everything was fantastic! View, cleanliness, dog friendly. Couldnât have been better. We also truly enjoyed the boat cruise with our hostsđ
A little piece of Heaven! Perfect for 3. The view from our deck was stunning & magical. Who needs a TV when you can sit on the deck and watch the sail boats & lobster boats go by. The owners thought of everything you would need for a weeks stay. Clean, comfortable, cozy and just plain cute! My grand daughter who is 21 fell in love with this cabin and wants to live there! We 3 ladies had a great time staying here and exploring Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor, Whale & Puffin watching, and surrounding areas. We're discussing a return trip in the near future & will stay here again. Depending on how many family members will come, we will have to rent one of the other 2 cabins on their properties. Larger and accomadates more people. Great Time, place & owners are great folks!
We have stayed in this cottage for several years, always in mid-June, for 2 weeks. View is spectacular, location is quiet and yet close enough to town. Mimi and Rick--the hosts--are friendly and available with information but they also respect guests' privacy. Cottage is well equipped for simple cooking and bed is supremely comfortable. We spend most of our time on the beautiful deck reading, or hiking the many trails on MDI.
It`s a wonderful cabin with stunning views. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. The cabin is cosy and comfortable. Acadia national park is close by. Really everything you need for a holiday in Maine. We gladly come back year after year.
Awesome stay. Peaceful, close to great trails and restaurants. Owners are super nice It was very clean and comfy. We enjoyed sitting on the deck. We booked for next year already.
Deer Track lives up to its name. When we would return in the early evening we were always great by three or four deer. Every morning we enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and sitting on the deck drinking our morning coffee while watching the porpoises and seals swimming in the Sound. We had a eagle fly ten feet over our heads while sitting on the deck relaxing after a bike ride on the carriage roads. The cabin is rustic cozy. Everything you need for a stay is provided. The hot shower with water pressure had my other half screaming with joy (we have stayed other places and had no water pressure). The fireplace was perfect on the one rainy fall like day we had. Rick and Mimi were both wonderful. Rick set me up with lobster after returning from checking his traps, it doesn't get any fresher than that. I am sorry we missed the boat ride offer with them. I have been going to Mount Desert Island for 20 years and stayed in many different places so far Deer Track is my favorite. You can not beat the location and million dollar view (that is what the houses down the road and on the other side are on the market for). We have already been penciled in to return next year.
My partner and I stayed at Deer Track (the cabin up the hill from Seaweed) for a week in October 2012 with our dog, and we absolutely loved it! And, as the name would suggest, we saw lots of deer!
The cabin is adorable and cozy with a prize-winning view. The open layout makes great use of the small space. We especially loved the expansive deck, the central fireplace, and the king size bed tucked into its own cozy nook. This cabin is comfortable but rustic. If you're looking for luxury, stay elsewhere. If you're looking for a comfortable and cozy place to sleep where you'll wake to a glorious sunrise over the fjord, this cabin is for you. The kitchen is small but nicely laid out. The bathroom is small andâwith a curtain for a doorâdoes not offer the privacy some might require, but it was perfect for us.
The uninterrupted view of Somes Sound and the mountains from high up on the cliff is stunning, and the location is perfectâon the quiet side of the island but close to everything. Mimi and Rick are great! They're friendly, helpful, and available. We always had plenty of firewood, towels, etc. Even the dog was sad to leave at the end of the week. It had become home. We're already planning our next stay at Deer Track!
