GREAT 2brm 1bth condo in the Mauna Loa Shores overlooking Carlsmith Beach Park, a unique park with protected reef, ez access where you can swim with the sea turtles. Fantastic inside and out. Comfort. The condo has everything you need for the perfect East Hawaii stay. Our management has decades of residency and management and will make sure that you know where to go and what to do to make it the ultimate vacation.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights with our 3 kids- ages 7, 9, &11. There was plenty of room for all of us, very well appointed, had everything we needed and the beach supplies were a nice bonus! Having the beach park right next door was amazing and the kids also loved the pool. This was a nice place to have as home base for seeing everything we wanted to see on the east side of the island!

Mauna Loa Shores Excellent Home Base

A great place to stay as a home base to explore the Hilo area. The condo is well-provisioned, comfortable, and clean, and it more than met our needs. The Carl Smith Beach Park next door is a huge bonus - the lagoon is a wonderful place to swim or snorkel - and you literally walk out the parking lot and you are there!

Great rental

Very nice condo with all we needed. The view and access to Carlsmith Park is a huge bonus. Terry is very good to work with and all went smoothly. We loved our week there!

We love Hilo

Lovely breeze, very clean and fresh, appreciated the coffee and tea, also the well stocked kitchen, easy to operate TV and beach chairs. We will be back.

Nice location

Condo was perfect for our needs. Pool was much better than I imagined from the photos on listing. Also appreciated having a designated parking spot during our stay. No a/c in this building so it was very warm in condo, but they had fans for every room. Would stay here again.

Clean and bright

We loved our stay at this place! It is located right next to Carlsmith Beach Park where you can snorkel and swim. It is very nicely appointed and has everything you need. It was nice to have an elevator with our luggage. We met the maintenance man on the way in who was very friendly and guided us to our place. Parking is free with a dedicated parking spot. The owner is very responsive and helpful!

Nice older condo kept in good shape next to a very popular park on the water. Very easy to go next door for a swim and snorkel. Can be noisy at times with road noise and loud music at the park.

I loved it!

The location and view were great, right next to the beach! It was super clean with pretty much all the appliances you would need or want were there. I did find a piece of garbage under my bed (food wrapper) but that was quite literally the only problem. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone on a two-person trip!!

Peaceful. Quiet. Close to beach.

Everything we wanted and more! The property was beautifully kept, offering views of the ocean right from the lanai and only a few steps to immerse in the water. The house was well-equipped with everything you might need—modern kitchen, comfy beds, and a spacious living area. The proximity to Carlsmith Beach was ideal, just a short walk away to enjoy swimming with sea turtles and exploring tide pools. The host was incredibly attentive and responding to all our questions within a few minutes. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway in Hilo.

Can’t beat this location

Clean, well appointed, bright 1 Bedroom that easily accommodated three adults. We particularly liked the lanai. Days, had a nice view of park and bay. At night, you hear the waves crashing against the rocks. You really are staying on the beach. Special mention of Terry, the owner. He’s super responsive. This was a great experience. Thank you.

Sitting on the balcony with coffee or cocktails and the beautiful view of Carlsmith Beach Park and ocean was so pleasant. Loved having an elevator for all our luggage. Beds were comfortable and all was clean. The floor was very slippery as we entered the front door and stove top is confusing on how to operate. Overall we enjoyed having this condo as a place to come back to at the end of our adventurous days.

Nice homey condo in Hilo

We have stayed at this complex before, this was our first time in this unit. It was very nice, especially the mattress. Wife and I both woke up first day and commented on the mattress. It has a nice balcony and very close to downtown Hilo. It is always nice when there are condiments left over from previous users. I am not kidding about that. We will stay there again next year.

Tropical decor by ocean park

Nicely decorated condo in tropical decor. Fit our needs for 3 day visit in Hilo. Small outside balcony with dining area was nice to enjoy, overlooking the park & bay. The condo unit was quiet. The only down side was the street was busy with traffic & at night loud street rodders, but it did become quiet by 10-11pm.It did not bother my spouse who goes to bed early. It was great to be close to bay & ocean. Saw 2 sea turtles that swam right by us!

great views

disappointed that check out was so early. i also thought that the fact that the shower was in the tub that there should have been bars to hold on to as you got in and out and maybe one on the wall so you could steady yourself while showering. i did find a stool to use to help get into bed since they were so high. i also would have liked an extra set of sheets so that i could spend some nights sleeping on the futon

This is my honest opinion. If you are bothered by excessive street noise, then do not stay on this street or this property. According to comments that I read the noise stops after 10 p.m. Well, that depends. On Wednesday and Sunday that is true. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the noise continued until after 1 a.m. I talked to two residents in the elevator. One has lived there 5 years. He said the noise is a major problem. The other said the noise used to be worse until they installed speed bumps. I have never heard such load music from some cars and such load noise from mufflers. Also, if it is hot outside you will need to open the windows in the two bedrooms. My wife couldn't open or close them. I could with a lot of effort. We quickly learned to open them to reduce the temperature in the rooms. And close them when we tried to sleep because of the excessive street noise. There are some positives. The lagoon is VERY family friendly. The view is outstanding. We could see flocks of birds leaving the area in the morning and if it was rainy we could see where it was raining. Everything else in the unit was okay (normal for condos). But not up to the standards of an average time share where everything works and plates etc. are brand new. Would I stay again? No. Too many negatives. The pool area was poor. The unit was average. The street noise was terrible.

Amazing home base for exploring around Hilo

We absolutely loved our stay here. Unit was spacious and well appointed. The building has a good sized pool and is right next to an amazing beach park which had surprisingly good snorkeling. The location just outside Hilo was perfect for exploring around the region including Volcanoes NP and we found great food in Hilo. Communication with the host was easy and they provided lots of excellent recommendations for activities and eateries. Only downside is no AC, so you have to sleep with windows open. The beach park and road outside were noisy a couple nights, so not good for light sleepers. There were a couple minor maintenance issues as well. Overall, we loved our stay and would re-book if visiting the big island in a heartbeat.

Awesome! Close to everything.

Great location, super close to downtown Hilo, food, snorkeling, swimming etc! Our condo was clean and we felt very safe. Staff was super friendly, parking was easy. You won’t be disappointed.

Swim Haven and Tropical Beauty

This condo is lovely and surrounded by tropical beauty. Its location above a city park is both entertaining and noisy. It is not a location for folks wanting a tranquil vacation because of its abundance of motorcycle traffic and active park. Aside from that we thoroughly enjoyed daily ocean swims outback and friendly faces.
