This beautiful eco-friendly home overlooks the Shenandoah Valley and sits at the top of 40 acres at the Rolling River Holiday properties. This home was designed to welcome in the outside and create a wonderful and cheerful home environment from the comfortable indoor/outdoor seating and the gorgeous mountain views!
There are 3 bedrooms, one of the main floor off of the common area and 2 on the second floor, each with their own bathroom and wonderful views of the blue ridge mountains. There is also an additional bathroom on the main floor.
We have a living room, dining room and full kitchen on the main level that open to a welcoming main level deck and fire pit.
On the second floor we have another cozy living room and small kitchen between the 2 second floor bedrooms. The second floor living room also opens out to a second floor deck to enjoy the views from a higher elevation.
The attic is cozy yet spacious and is a great place for a movie night or for the kids to play if they want to take a break from the outdoors! There is also a pull out couch for extra sleeping space. Additionally, there is a laundry room in the attic for guest use as well.
There is private river access within 0.4 miles walking distance of the home and can also be easily accessed if driving. We also offer a few kayaks free of charge on request for the river, and tubes are also available for rent/purchase.
The location of the property was excellent. Nearby to the town of Front Royal, Skyline drive and the caves.
The house itself was recently and very tastefully redone.
The property manager was very friendly and responsive to questions.
Overall we had an excellent time!
Absolutely loved it. The photos don't do this place justice and they are terrific. Loved the layout, felt very comfortable and would recommend this house very highly. Thank you, Grace!
Our family just returned from a wonderful stay at this idyllic property. This beautiful home was the perfect antidote for the COVID blues! The house is lovely; the views from every room are stunning, and the decor elegantly blends comfort and style.
If you are seeking an escape from urban life or are simply seeking a retreat in the mountains that isn't too far from necessities (groceries, Target, etc), then look no further. We would absolutely return!
This Beautiful home gave us everything we wanted plus wildlife. The setting is very remote! The Gravel road to the house winds along side the Shenandoah River with great views of the water. Once at the property, there are so many windows it makes it really bring the outdoors in. The decks are awesome for morning coffee and viewing the Mountains. An outdoor fire pit would be nice for cold evenings. Great location surrounded by a lot of wineries! Had a wonderful experience here! Blown away with how nice this place is! Thank you!!!
What the O'Brien family have created and named Rolling River Properties is beyond a little slice of heaven. Just finished a quick 3 day getaway to find clear skies for eclipse viewing, and we cannot believe our luck. I have rarely seen a rental house so beautifully landed in its setting, and so beautifully appointed. The sense of peace and quiet was palpable and greatly needed. All that, and wild turkeys too!
Amazing!!! The home, location and views are awesome. I would recommend this property 100%. The owners are extremely helpful and professional. I would love to revisit one day. I've been telling my family and friends about my trip, WE NEED TO GO BACK!!! 10 OUT OF 10!!!
We really enjoyed our stay but had a few suggestions. The microwave oven would be more convenient to use if it was on the counter. Two ottomans instead of the glass tables would be more useful in the living room. Instructions for the TV would be helpful too.
This place is one of the best and most comfortable places we've stayed at. Well supplied kitchen with sharp knives. We like to cook and they made it easy.
Our stay 7/16-7/23. This property exceeded our expectations! More than enough space and very clean. Beds were comfortable, kitchen(s) stocked, outside very inviting. AC worked great and much appreciated as we were smack in the middle of a heatwave. Our dog Izzy had a great time trying to make friends with the deer, rabbits and our occasional turkey guest. We were close to town so was able to do a Target run. There really is no reason to leave the property, but we did venture out and hiked the Kennedy Peak. At the summit you are rewarded with a 360 degree view of the Luray valley. Izzy traversed the trail very well. We also hiked/walked nearby Rockland Park. The nights are very peaceful and quiet with a lot of star gazing to be had.. There are other houses on the property, but strategically placed in such a way that you could not see them. Grace, our appointed host was very attentive and responded to all questions right away. We would certainly give this property our consideration again if we find ourselves looking to visitt VA again.
We live in Texas, so I couldnât wait to visit this house, which had a beautiful view and was a short walk to the Shenandoah. Heaven on earth. The house was beautiful and clean and the hosts were the best. Accessible and friendly. We have kids in DC so we will definitely book this house again. Thanks, Grace and Frank!
The house is new with great decorative touches. It is fully equipped - including charcoal for the grill. It is located in a scenic area that is remote but not too remote. The views are gorgeous; we also saw wild turkeys, deer and numerous other birds. Communication with the host was superb. If we have the need, we'd stay here again for sure!
Wonderful views, very clean, modern and bright space to spend time with family while hiking after the holidays. Had some issues with the internet but got in touch with the host quickly and we werenât there to be on the computer. Easy access to Shenandoah entrances. Would definitely come back!
Everything was perfect for our stay. Starting with easy directions and checkin to arrive at a comfortable, very clean and well appointed home. Everything was so relaxing around the property, we explored less and found ourselves walking to the nearby river access or just taking in the views on both comfortable porches. Looking forward to staying again!
We had a fantastic time! The house was well outfitted with everything we needed for our long weekend, the beds were comfortable, and the views were incredible. Plus, Rose was responsive when we had issues & came over to supply us with a TV remote which had gone missing. We will be coming back!
We very much enjoyed our stay at "The Haven." The views are amazing, especially with all of the snow that had fallen a few days before we arrived.
We were constantly admiring the construction quality of the home and its design. All of the windows truly brought the outside in!
We visited Harpers Ferry, Fox Meadow Winery, Luray Caverns, and booked a trail ride at Royal Horseshoe Farm (cancelled due to the snow/ice on the ground).
We looked forward to our many walks in the snow, with the grounds around the home serving as a huge playground for our dog.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! We will be back!
Process to rent property was easy. Owners were quick to answer any questions before we rented and after. Property was clean and kitchen was stocked. We enjoyed sitting on deck each evening and cooking dinners and just enjoying the peacefulness and views.
Beautiful, pristine house! The owners were vvery accommodating. Great location....enjoyed the nearby restaurants and wineries. Definitely will book again!
The house is great with fantastic views of the mountains from every room. Impeccably clean. Didnât have to worry about a thing. 25 minutes to SNP entrance and Dickey Ridge Trailhead. So relaxing! Canât wait to come back.
