Welcome to our beautiful cottage - newly-built, well-heated and nestled in rural, tranquil Ohariu Valley, Wellington - 20 minutes drive from Wellington CBD and 10 minutes drive from train or bus station.

Relax on the sofa with a magazine or stream to the TV with a cuppa from the breakfast station equipped with hot drinks, cold drinks and complimentary continental breakfast which includes bread, spreads, cereals and homemade GF/DF muesli. Nespresso coffee machine.

Sit on the porch and enjoy the fresh country air and noises, bird song and starry skies (with no city light).

Make use of the exercise equipment - mat, roller, blocks and elastic band.

Take a break from cooking, as there are no cooking facilities available, except easy heat and eat. Instead enjoy Wellington’s cuisine or nearby Johnsonville restaurants, or order in from the limited restaurants nearby that do rural delivery.

Snuggle into the comfy queen bed warmed by the electric blanket, quality cotton sheets, soft wool duvet and wake up to the native birds playing and eating in the trees. This space is best suited for an individual or couple, but a portacot or trundler bed is available on request.

Enjoy the convenience of the ensuite bathroom equipped with large shower space, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairdryer and towels.

Leave your pets at home sorry as we already have a friendly labrador - who is well secured elsewhere and always supervised.

This is a country property with working farm properties nearby. From time-to-time you may hear nearby farming activities or animals, or smell farming smells. These will be at reasonable hours and not last long.

There is limited cellular signal depending on provider - Spark signal is fine. Complimentary WIFI works great for iMessage texts, calls with apps such as Messenger, FaceTime etc.

Things to do near the Cottage Getaway:
Make the most of the excellent location, which is a few minutes’ drive to the train or bus station which will get you to Wellington CBD in 15 minutes.

Take a 5 minute drive to Spicer Forest for a short work through native bush.

Or for a more challenging adventure, from the cottage you can walk some of the Te Araroa trail - a walk that stretches the length of New Zealand - which passes through Ohariu Valley. Take a short stroll but perhaps turn back before the trail joins the Skyline and Northern Walkways traverses ridge tops for up to 6 hours (13.4kms)! This walk ends in the city after stunning rural, city and coastal views along the way.

Take a 15 minutes drive to Makara Beach for a short walk along the Makara coastline with stunning views of the Cook Strait and glimpses of the South Island in the distance (best at sunset). Or for a more challenging adventure, tackle the 3-4 hour Makara Walkway loop track!

Take a 25 minute drive to Zealandia Wildlife sanctuary.

Take a 10 minute drive to the motorway to head up to Kāpiti coast or the Hutt Valley.
