The house in Northwood was in a lovely area and was a great space for our 2 families and with a few tweaks could have been really brilliant however it was not. We hired the house over the NY period, and it had some great streets with views of the fireworks. The kitchen was left in a fairly used state by the owners, The fridge was not clean and full of used food, milk, cheese, salad stuff, and going off fruit in the fruit bowl. I did contact the host and said we felt like we had stepped into a home that was being lived in and he did apologise and said they left it for us to use if required. That would have been very thoughtful if the food had been fresh and untouched but it wasn’t. So we left everything as it was apart from bin the fruit as it was starting to smell . The dish washer when opened was full of the owners dishes, again very odd and we left it as is. The work tops weren’t overly clean and there was really old washing scrubbers and cloths thrown in the sink. It felt to us, that the owners had literally left that day, leaving everything behind them. There was also lots of ants in the pantry, I appreciate Sydney has a warm climate and insects are part and parcel but there was a lot.The outside pool area was lovely, sadly with our busy schedule we didn’t get the use of it, but pool was very well kept and clean. BBQ was left pretty unclean too. Interaction with the host prior and during was good. We were left disappointed with the experience.
