The Space:

Casa della Montagna X by Tiny Away, just 55 minutes from Cosenza near San Giovanni in Fiore, sits lakeside in the Parco Nazionale della Sila. This holiday home retreat offers a gateway to the region’s attractions: the towering I Giganti della Sila, historic Castello di Santa Severina, and adventures on Monte Botte Donato. Steps from Brillo Parlante’s craft brewery, it combines modern comforts with Calabria’s high-altitude charm.



Here, outdoor enthusiasts can try their hand at a variety of outdoor adventures: trekking, mountain biking/e-biking, kayaking, snow-trek, beer and wine treks with tasting of local products, and forest trekking and guided horseback riding on the shores of the lake.



A comfortable, 252-square-foot accommodation is set in one of the best tiny house rentals and serene locations with abundant natural bushland, easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.



The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (electric heated for hot showers). It focuses on satisfying people's needs with natural resources and processes to save water by using eco-friendly toilets to save the environment.

Casa della Montagna Sila by Tiny Away is located in the town of San Giovanni in Fiore in Calabria. San Giovanni in Fiore is known as the main town in the Sila National Park and is renowned for its Florense Abbey, a monumental religious complex, built in 1,215, by the prophetic monk Gioacchino Da Fiore.



The surrounding area boasts three Silan lakes—Arvo, Ampollino, and Cecita—ideal for experiencing and exploring all year-round. The local culture preserves folkloric traditions, and important food and wine traditions, including the production of a typical local dessert the “pitta ‘mpigliata”.



Staying at Casa della Montagna Sila provides an opportunity to experience the authentic mountain lifestyle and traditions of this Calabrian region.



Our local area offers plenty to explore. Parco Nazionale della Sila features dense forests, clear lakes, and mountain trails perfect for hiking, skiing, and wildlife spotting. Brillo Parlante is a local favorite for craft beer lovers, known for its unique brews and passion for quality.

Getting Around:

By Car:



- From Lamezia Terme Airport: Drive towards Salerno, take the Cosenza exit, and follow Highway 106 towards Crotone. The drive from Lamezia takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

- From Crotone Airport: Head towards Cosenza and take the San Giovanni in Fiore Lorica exit. The drive is around 1 hour.



By Public Transport:



- From Cosenza: Take a bus to San Giovanni in Fiore, which takes about 1 hour.

- From Crotone: Take a bus to San Giovanni in Fiore, also about 1 hour.

- Cab Options: Taxis are available from both Cosenza and Crotone for direct travel to the location.



By Flight:



- Lamezia Terme Airport and Crotone Airport are the two nearest airports. From Lamezia, the journey by car is about 1 hour and 30 minutes, while from Crotone it takes about 1 hour. Both airports have public transport and taxi options for onward travel.



Other Things to Note:

- Wifi is available

- Gas and Charcoal BBQ grill is available

- There are two tiny houses on the property

- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed

- Smoking is allowed in designated areas on the property

- Any damage in the property upon check out will be charged for

- Don’t forget to close the windows and lock doors when leaving the tiny house/ property

- Make sure to turn off the lights, air conditioning, and electronics (e.g., especially chargers)

- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge

- Mobile reception has good signals for Vodafone, WINDTRE, TIM, Iliad, Fastweb, PosteMobile, Very Mobile, Kena Mobile e Ho.

Pet Guidelines:

- Pets are allowed but must be declared at check-in

- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival

- Only one pet is allowed, and a €30 cleaning fee applies, to be paid directly to the host upon check-in

- We provide a welcome kit for pets: bowl, toy, cleaning wipes, waste bags, and two mats. This is all included in the extra pet cleaning fee of €30.



Important note:



- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban

- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas

- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
